BIGGEST EVER DINOSAUR Discovered in Argentina
Mike Smith Cosmos replied to Mike Smith Cosmos's topic in Earth Science
If nothing else , I have tried so hard to find the answers and evidence , from 18 years old to 71 years old ( that's 53 years. From 0 to 18 just opening my eyes and gazing about ) ! If I have not found something out about the world , cosmos and everything during these years ,to pass on . Then I despair ! A picture ,one of my daughters took of me struggling down a dry river bed on the Canary Islands two years ago . We were searching then ! I have collected sand ,grit and stones from all over the world. My friends and four daughters as they move about the world, have brought me stones and grit , ( my wife ,needless to say has not been well suited with this , ) from Patagonia, the atacama desert, from the Australian outback , from the Khyber pass ## , from the Indian Ocean , from the Atlas Mountains in Morocco, from the island of Vancouver ,Western Canada ....this one is amazing ( see below ) Absolutely ..Sirendipody ... ##. Link to khyber pass :- http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Khyber_Pass Mike -
it is fearful to talk about death.
Mike Smith Cosmos replied to yahya515's topic in General Philosophy
I have had a ' Near Death Experience ' , which many people have had, but I can only speak from my own perspective. I was in my 30's ( years old ) doing a construction job for a fellow businessman. His company was installing the roof on a new sports facility squash court. He asked me to drill holes on the top of the squash court walls , so that his metal roof installation could be bolted on . I was at the top of a very long extending ladder 30 feet or more. Masonry drill in one hand , gripping the top of wall red bricks with the other hand .i had successfully done many fastening position holes. On this particular occasion /moment , I was drilling.... Then found myself descending backwards ground wards with a drill in one hand , a brick in the other. I realised or experienced the compressed idea that I was about to die. No way could I survive this fall, The whole time thing changed . Everything reduced to a very slowed up passage of time, on the way down . There was a resignation on my part " oh well this is it ! " I can see it now 40 years later .it was like seeing an old fashion film , frame by frame on the way down . As it happened, I survived unscathed , and for days life was beautiful ( warts and all ) . Then gradually life per normal returned with all its ups and downs . I have heard other people having this time expansion experience. I actually met a guy who was electrocuted up in a tree and fell out dead , hit the ground dead . Lived to tell me the tale . Mike -

As to what is permissible, I claim scholarly use thus :- ANY reproduction without permission is a violation, unless you can claim "fair use" (e.g. in a scholarly article or review of the work). It's not obvious you can claim that. Copyright grants the owner of said copyright the exclusive right to determine use and distribution. You don't get to decide when it's OK to violate that. I have e mailed Franz Joseph himself for his permission. I will advise his reply . I hope somebody posts my pictures , I will be glad of the publicity ! Here copy this :- . Copyright free anybody worldwide . Thanks . I am mike smith. In case of any ambiguity . I am a contributor on the science forum for " I claim scholarly use " Bunters ! -
BIGGEST EVER DINOSAUR Discovered in Argentina
Mike Smith Cosmos replied to Mike Smith Cosmos's topic in Earth Science
The following picture like many others has been put up into the public arena for viewing , in this case with a clear identification as to its origin . removed by mod I have sought advice , due to my artistic activity as to the protocol , when utilising or referring to other people and artists work , with regards to copyright . It would appear that the key issues are :- (a) an attempt to copy and pass off as your own ,other peoples work , without due recognition. ( hence the courtesy of ) (b) to profit from other peoples work . In the example above , it is clear no passing off is possible as the work of the National Geographic and the particular artist Davide Bonadonna , are identified. In the case of Franz Joseph's drawing of three dinosaurs , was being distributed in a public arena. I was able to locate the author and made diligent reference to his origination showing due courtesy in the process. Also I am not attempting to profit from his work . So I believe I have undertaken the correct protocol. You should notice that I have done this in most of my recent posts. Mike -
Here is the start of a Composition . A naturally presented composition . This is a source image , that I thought had a certain dynamic and interest ,worth capturing ! It naturally has a composition , though NOT complete. However it illustrates points of a partial composition. Coming in from the bottom of the picture, which is a natural place to start, when viewing a sight. ( after all ,most of us glance to the ground with regularity , to prevent us tripping over stones, toys , computer cables or whatever. ) . Although non descript, our eye is drawn to the breaking white wave across the bottom of the picture. Quickly we are drawn up into the boat that , these African fishermen are taking over the waves to sea, with others of their fellow countrymen. Our eye is caught immediately to the poor chap in the back of the boat struggling with the outboard motor. We are led on to the next individual ' bailing like stink ' to prevent the boat sinking due to the ingress of waves. In front of him ,higher up the boat are two individuals ( one supporting the other ) where the pilot is drastically attempting to keep the craft facing across the wave . Phew ! Let's hope they make it . So far the story of this picture is exciting. Our eye wanders on to see the other boats already beyond the waves . Seen across the horizon to our left..... Here the composition peters out .... We can return to experience the launch another time ,or leave the picture to the top left hand side or continue our composition to complete a story .... Mike

However, the first time I saw this particular picture , I must admit I received a ' mixed message ' . There exists a similar picture to this , where a painting shows a fleet of ships in total chaos , with men falling out into the water , cannon fire , wreckage and all manner of detrituse in the sea , smoke and all sorts of mehem . The above previous picture , has some smoke or mist which did alert me to that past memory. Herein lies the nubb ! . I think we build up mental paradigms, say smoke at sea , with medieval battles, so possibly my brain was interpreting ,quite subconsciously the smoke. Then later with the men upright in the boats as ' peace ' ? Here is one of the paintings that built up the previous ' battle ' paradigm . Note the white smoke , but now the disaster in the sea ! Compared to this peaceful sea picture, similar smoky background , but just that more definite upright ' masts' throughout . Perhaps one can see how one can get mixed messages. Perhaps the dark ,and reddish background are more akin to battle ,images. ----------------------- -------- ------------------- Have just moved home . Listening to Mozart Requium . Found a mini -disc in the attic with this beautiful piece of music on. Mini disc is past technology ,I think now . However ,here I have recovered from the near past , a beautiful piece of music now playing . Yet this technology ( mini disc ) came and went . Fortunately , I also rescued from my attic a mini disc player . Now plugged into my Amplifier, and the music is coming forth . Thus we have - past ---- - present -------- future ...... In Time . To visually illustrate this Past - Present - Future . easily see the following illustration :- Past :- is illustrated at the bottom of the picture , set , yet no longer in the present . as moved on , mini disc no longer in vogue . No longer today's technology , just . Present :- the distinct line across picture 1/3 way up. Yet all colourful twirls . As today the present . I am currently listening to my mini disc playing . Mozart . Beautiful , colourful . now is happening , in front of me . With my ears and eyes. Colourful , creative. . Yet Future :- the top , blue sky in the picture , has not yet happened, vague ,yet in anticipation , interesting . Yet to come . Mike

Clearly this picture is one of some sort of royal visitation to the fleet. The whole picture is one of , Stature, peace, happyness Note how the sea is flattish ( horizontal ) , the masts are upright, the personell are all upright . (Verticle ). This is a peaceful ,happy, occasion! Mike

Separate pictures :- one showing comparative size of a man :-. . stegosaur. With its notable temperature controlling fins on its back . allosaurus . With its notable front legs ,looking almost like forearms .( suitable for grabbing ) ( not that much more taller than the man illustrated ) . Not that I would want to ' Arm Wrestle' with even an average Allosaurus ! Mike -

Have you got a picture of such an encounter Mike -
Oops sorry , it is the Black Sea , where all the ships are going through the bridge, and through the Bosphorus. Also the great building , highlighting Istanbul , was an attempt at Hagia Sofia Link : - http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hagia_Sophia I just love the illustration of the buzz of civilisation , there . That is fine . I am rather pleased. I never did like all this " Godzilla " type world . Now I can have sweet dreams of a more pleasant world existing on my Dorset , Jurassic, Coast just down the road . Fond pictures of creatures wandering and smiling at each other as they drift through grass glade woodland , ponds and peace . Mike -
SCIENCE - ART LINK . During the course of becoming more involved in recent years in the arena of ART . Recent investigations have produced by observation , an apparently close link , between ART COMPOSITION , OBJECTS, and TECHNIQUES and the .SCIENCE behind human and possibly animal recognition and response. What might have been construed as a lot of 'Prancing around ' , gesturing , and slapping paint around at random , by the Artist , may have given the idea abroad , that Art , was far removed from Science. I have been trying to get my head around ' Why ' line angle , has such a dramatic effect in boat/ship pictures . Namely :- Note the following two examples ; note the upright mast 90degrees to horizontal . The water level horizontal . Peace , well being , pleasant ! . The second example , note the masts are at an angle to the Horizontal and angle to the '' upright " . We have spent all our life , trying to keep upright . The ground and calm seas is horizontal , we have spent most of our life from falling to the horizontal or happy when we are horizontal in bed. If we are not at either of these angles we are unhappy , disturbed, frightened or even excited , but not calm . Note sea surface is NOT at a comfortable angle . Although these may appear as simple examples, they are profound , in that put those ' two ' angles ( horizontal and vertical ) into an Art picture by composition , can radically change the mood ( feeling ) . See following two examples : - The first picture , I intended to show the tranquil yet busy atmosphere, here at the junction between the Mediterranean Sea , and the inland Caspian Sea . All boats , small row boats to great cruise liners , have lines horizontal or vertical . The second picture I intended to be exciting , slightly dangerous , as the sailors, lean at an angle the boat leans at an angle , the sea is not all horizontal , Huge wake has the sea at an exciting angle . Note that all these ,sensed states , are by human experience, consciousness , feeling ( observation ) . However the experiences are common to all individuals ( thus a Science ! Predictable by design of the composition , planned more composition , provable, even experiments can be set up to test the feelings. It may be that animals , have more instinctive observations and feelings , nonetheless predictable , testable . ( including .. Fight and flight ) scientific ! Mike

.That is a bit of a revelation ! .. .. I have obviously been taken in by Hollywood Movies of Jurrasic Park . I had visions of lumbering monsters the size of a house , crashing through great forests . Enough to ' freak the living daylights out of anybody ' . But by what you are saying , the majority ,were horse size and downward . I will have to inform the grandchildren. They are watching a ' pack of fibs ' that monsters are the exception rather than the rule ! Mike -
Some of the great masters , established that magnetic fields do not exist on there own , but are inexorably linked to electric charge. So whatever the strange movement of electrons ,in association with an atom there is always an associated magnetic field. ( even when neutralised. However often this is neutralised by opposite fields . Hence the ' two ' or electron ' pair ' idea with electrons in atoms . With electrons in spin mode they will generate a magnetic field by dint of the moving charge. You may already know this , Ant , but it's easy to forget because so many pairs are neutralised its the residual charge that makes most of chemistry work . ( might be a slight exaggeration, maybe not ) Mike

DETAILS Quote " Title Polarisation of the Cosmic Microwave Background Released 05/02/2015 3:00 pm Acknowledgement of the origin of this information from and accepting the Copyright ESA and the Planck Collaboration Description A visualisation of the polarisation of the Cosmic Microwave Background, or CMB, as detected by ESA's Planck satellite over the entire sky. The CMB is a snapshot of the oldest light in our Universe, imprinted on the sky when the Universe was just 380 000 years old. It shows tiny temperature fluctuations that correspond to regions of slightly different densities, representing the seeds of all future structure: the stars and galaxies of today. A small fraction of the CMB is polarised it vibrates in a preferred direction. This is a result of the last encounter of this light with electrons, just before starting its cosmic journey. For this reason, the polarisation of the CMB retains information about the distribution of matter in the early Universe, and its pattern on the sky follows that of the tiny fluctuations observed in the temperature of the CMB. In this image, the colour scale represents temperature differences in the CMB, while the texture indicates the direction of the polarised light. The patterns seen in the texture are characteristic of E-mode polarisation, which is the dominant type for the CMB. For the sake of illustration, both data sets have been filtered to show mostly the signal detected on scales around 5º on the sky. However, fluctuations in both the CMB temperature and polarisation are present and were observed by Planck on much smaller angular scales, too. , " unquote Again acknowledgement to ESA Plank telescope . With all this extra information, this surely begs the question:- ......-------- . How, has all this come about ? . ----------............ Also at a personal level , I am not really sure how to interpret the COLOUR and TEXTURE of the image. In the description above it speaks about two different pieces of information 1 .. The temperature differences 2 .. The polarisation of the waves Which is which on the picture here presented ? And how is it portrayed exactly ? Which colour stands for what ? And which texture stands for what ? Dark blue, light blue , brown ....., texture ? What texture ? Where ? Mike

I watched a video given at the Royal Institute by Jim Al Kahili, University Prof and Broadcaster in Quantum Physics. There are research opportunities in entanglement and quantum tunneling to do with micro miniature magnetic crystals in the eyes and beaks of Birds . they apparently use entanglement and quantum tunneling for 'seeing' and detecting where they are in the world using the earths magnetic field . sounds interesting . not many in the field . When George Smoot , lead his team to investigate the background radiation , from the edge of space, he brought that first image to the world , that we have become familiar with, namely : the Microwave Background Radiation . On viewing the image for the first time ,he publicly said :- " I feel We have looked in to The Face of God ." Quote George Smoot project manager COBI Many more clearer images later and the precise details have proliferated , do we feel we are seeing , The images of ' How the universe was formed ' Mike

Yes. I think all these new values they have been discovering, by the Plank Telescope, Are very interesting discussed in the BBC correspondents interview as already quoted by others . The Sound Interview is well worth the time listening to (13 minutes ) . link :- http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-21866464 The proportions of dark Energy and dark Matter seem to have changed to what were previously thought. i wonder what the implications of this are ? Well I have tried , and better tried to crack this gravity opposite . Still trying . As a professor once said to me . He is dead now . " the first person to put a device on the table , and it goes skyward ,based on this antigravity principle , is the one that has proved it . " Keep going ,we need it . Speak again later . See currently adjacent thread about " new antigravity mass transport system " Link to thread : http://www.scienceforums.net/topic/77276-possibility-for-mass-transport-system-could-take-us-up-a-gear/ Mike -

.. .Keep going Ryan ! If you manage to find the opposite to gravity , you will have hit the jackpot . Come and see me , I am down in Devon . We will become rich , because when you crack the opposite to gravity , we leave the Earth surface and go into the third dimension like the Birds . Catch you a bit later . Mike
