Tell them they will find me on the streets of Exeter or the surrounding towns of Devon ( Between the Jurassic Coast to the Granite Tors of Dartmoor ) Discussing TIME ( A paradigm Shift ) and painting a picture of Time both now and over Earth's far distant past . 100's of millions of years , billions of years.

Well according to Prof Lee Smolin , since the turn of the century the science community , following Einstein's lead , felt that time was more an illusion, and to be viewed more as a dimension of space time to be moved across , as it were , like any of the three space dimensions . But he was re introducing the age old , moment by moment view of time , rather than the illusional view of time . Hence oft quoted ( oh time is just an illusion ! ) If you can spare the time , the above lecture does give a very clear, ( if you can hear above his mumbling ) view of this paradigm shift . ( reborn paradigm shift ) . I imagine the apparent ambiguity in what I am saying , is that :- a paradigm tends to speak in terms of ' a world view ' The world at large , probably has not yet caught up with Einstein's view of thinking of time as part of a four dimensional space-time continuum . The world view within parts of science has just about struggled limping into viewing time as a dimension within the 4 dimensions of space time . The ' reborn' as far as I can make out is separating time out to how it was before Einstein , in other words how most of the world thought that's how it was anyway. But Lee Smolin , as far as I can work out is trying to paradigm reborn back out , the science community , into to the old way of of viewing time . Paradigm shift. Reborn . I think ! That is, the shift he hopes for , is more in the science world . ( world view - Paradigm ) ( there is a good chance , that sounds a little ' gobble- de - goop ' . Prof Lee Smolin has introduced the issue of a Paradigm Shift in our approach to TIME in his Book 'Time Reborn '. Here he speaks of time being a moment by moment event. the only part being real is the Present , Now, the present moment. The past is gone , the present moment is real and now , the Future is only partially predicted , but by no means certain. the past has remnants of the present. I am out on the street in various Towns, Villages, and Cities . Painting and discussing in the street while I paint among other aspects of Reality this new Time picture. ( painted three separate pictures ,similar to this one, it is evolving as I repeat them , so far , it is of this time concept) I am getting a good response , particularly by discussion . :- Here the bottom 1/3 represents the past , the middle 1/3 the present , and the top 1/3 the future. One of the science forum members has gone to see Lee Smolin in a visit to London. He spoke with him about his released book ' Time Reborn ' with a view to setting up communication with him . Shortly the said member will be visiting me in SW England when we will discuss the matter of time further. In the mean time I can be found on the streets of various towns and cities painting and discussing the great paradigm shift in our view of time . New views on the inland warm seas, in basins of a supercontinent . . I think if anyone was observing us, and they had any degree of intelligence greater than current humanity, surely they would want to contact us , if only to say things like :- " Hey guys , You really do need to do something about your accelerating method of consuming energy to sustain your life style. Cos if you don't, soon, 'you are going to be out of gas PDQ, like any time soon ' . Do you need a hand ? " A bit like some scientists are saying ( James Lovelock , whose latest Book-' Rough ride into the Future ' Etc )

Well a least we have a pretty powerful idea ( " in Tune with the universe " ) to cherish . In itself this is a wide ranging and comfortable sentiment, that few would complain about, be you salamander, human , or material substance. I do understand your argument about things being in their own type. As regards the matter of whether there are higher beings than us.? Civilizations over the past thousands of years seem to have concerned themselves with this issue, different cultures seem to have come to a variety of beliefs, which are fairly common knowledge, and still have many followers. However for some reason science seems to have become very sensitive to ideas in this area. I am best keeping out of that debate as I get into bother if I even hint at evidence of " excellent engineering ,in nature " . I personally have no problems with either the ideas of superhuman intelligence or evolutionary systems. Everything about the universe utterly amazes me and I find it all quite incredible. All I want to do is understand as much as I can , about what actually the universe I am in " IS " and " How it works " I have come to realize fairly recently that when I look at or observe anything :- Perhaps that's why I became an Engineer . I can't really stop myself. Even though I strictly speaking do not have to do that any more . I am going to compose a series of isolated observations , and ideas about my observations and thoughts. They may be of some use to someone(s) sometime. They will probably be illustrated, as that is how my mind tends to work . Perhaps I will peer too hard into the Blue Beyond and get drawn in. ! mike Ps This weeks New Scientist ( June 28th page 17 ) gave some results of research done into " near death Experiences " say in an operation, accident or whatever. Three common traits came out of the research 1) An overwhelming feeling of peacefulness 2) An out of body experience 3) Perception of time changes . Fairly comforting !

All this about the change from grit to soil , that you speak about and specialise in, is a very interesting subject in its own right . Yet tied closely into plants and small life. I am wondered if two dimensions ( like a hologram ) was more the information. Say an engineers drawing of what he/she intends to have manufactured. In moving the project into the third dimension , in effect means giving substance to the drawing or information , and manufacturing reality, substance. Thus two dimensions is as thick as the graphine layer of a drawing . ( vaporous ) . Three dimensions is reality , substance . Mike

I am ordering up a ' shed load ' of black paint for my next picture of inland basins and near rocks ! Everything seems very dark ! What do you reckon ! So far ! Mike Hang about ! Comments about bell curve ...... I wish you had noted my introduction to the bell curve ..... I think then you might not have been ' quite so quick' to criticize This was intended for new readers, and as a conversational discussion on a speculation forum, where it originated. and as an indication of what could be anticipated , if such an experiment was to be conducted, and if increasing entropy had any competition. The sort of " back of a fag packet, engineers sketch" that could make the focus of a discussion between colleagues. I appreciate this is now in the main forum , but I was trying to rescue aspects of a discussion we were having on Entropy and any decrease in entropy. I have removed the " clever " bit as too many felt this was not for them , but am trying to restore the drive to decrease entropy provided by Gravity, Living things, and open systems. I would accept a minor apology . ( If you are up for that sort of thing ? ) I will give my apology to any readers , that I prefer to deal with the concept of an issue , rather than the detail maths of a problem. I do understand the maths behind these issues, but do not have the frame of mind , now-er-days, or the memory, or the patience to buckle down and do the maths. Sorry . mike PS. Am I correct in saying then , that the start of inland shallow seas are likely to arise, or start to form in the " BASINS " which appear to accompany " Orogeny " . ( Mikes ) Musings :- Light Blue= Uplifted Mountains Associated Darker blue= the Basins ( thus possible location of Shallow inland warm seas ?? ) Then Large rivers would exit these inland seas to the oceans ? Am i getting the picture, or am I at sea ( eeuuh ) Mike
