  2. It there a possibility that all the protons in the universe will eventually decay?
  3. General relativity explains gravity. The standard model explains electromagnetism and the weak and strong nuclear force (a GUT). They were united into a bosonic string theory, but this later turned into five superstring theories (using a supersymmetric standard model). Why have five theories? Because they are all sides of the same theory, M-theory. This is a theory uniting all forces of the universe (TOE) explaining events that are have large gravity and are very small (like a singularity).

    Nakedness

Technically, human's had to sin against God to become clothed and were initially intended to be nude. Why don't we follow God's initial intentions and be nude?
  5. I believe that the space between us and those galaxies is expanding faster the speed of light, which is ok because space does not hold information. Also, since these galaxies gave off photons far before they started travelling away so fast, we still may be able to see them. It does not violate Einstein's postulate.
  6. To my understanding, the Higgs Boson is just part of the standard model (a collection of the elementary particles in the universe), but it's theoretical. M-theory attempts to combine the five string theories. Each string theory is an attempt to combine the standard model with general relativity. Although this is all currently theoretical, the discovery of the Higgs Boson would not disprove string theory or M-theory.
  7. So what you are saying is this: An object leaves the earth because it's speed is greater than the gravitational attraction Over an extended amount of time the small attraction of the earth (assuming earth is the only thing in the universe...) will decelerate the speed of the object Eventually, the object will slowly accelerate back toward earth opposite it's original path This should be applied to the universe creating the Big Crunch, but it's not observed Dark Energy pushes the universe apart at an accelerating rate creating the Big Freeze Your defense: This "fuel" will obviously run out someday and gravity will take over Assumations you are making: The matter in the universe is finite Dark energy will run out? The critical density of the universe doesn't exist? I don't know Misconceptions you have: There is no escape velocity? I don't know

  10. What are the spins of the Gravitino and Higgsino? 1.5 and .5? or do they not even theoretically exist?

    God exists

Woah! This is the best idea I have heard in a long time... I am going to go try this right now...
  12. God's Cook Book Recipe One: The Universe Ingredients ~73% Dark Energy ~23% Dark Matter ~3% Free Hydrogen and Helium ~0.5% Stars ~0.3% Neutrinos ~0.2% Space Junk Directions: Mix together in three spatial dimensions. Wait 13.74 billion years. Brag to Odin. Watch him take the credit. Cry about it.
  13. can we detect it with how much it bends light waves?

    God exists

It is often a religious reasoning for why people go to war. Technologies made possible by science are just the tools or means of the people going to war. Taking away the technologies is not going to stop a religious feud~They existed far before science was regularly practiced. Although, the total destruction caused during wars is often due to both the reasoning and the method. If I a little boy hits his brother with a hammer, not only will the hammer be taken away, but the boy will be punished for his actions aswell.
  16. It is from a song, actually, but I think it's refering to parallel universes or something of the sort.

  17. Well, dimensions past our four are supposedly curled up so incredibly small that none of our universe's particles should be able to slip into them, due to string theory. So, I don't believe anything here should be able to interact with anything there and vice versa. And on the topic of consciousness, I find no physical evidence that it even exists. Aliens did not evolve in us, and they may exist in the future for all I know, but I don't believe they're in another dimension.
  18. IMO, I think that fuel cells in cars would be hard, based on the massive amount of hydrogen fuel we would need to generate. I would prefer solar energy powering generators for electricity. We could then invest in electric cars, a much more practical idea IMO.
  19. If it is anti-gravity, then it should push~expand. Gravity pulls. Dark matter is definitely one of the most peculiar problems with theoretical physics right now. The solution: possibly SUSY (supersymmetry) Supersymmetry states that for every particle, there is a supersymmetric partner particle which differs by half a unit of spin. Each boson has a fermionic superpartner, and each fermion has a bosonic superpartner. These superpartners are estimated to be much larger and weakly interacting that regular matter. They have most likely decayed into their most stable form, the neutralino. If this is true (there is no proof currently), then dark matter is probably just neutralinos, which we are hoping to detect at the LHC in geneva, switzerland. Also, they have probably accumulated at the centers of high-gravity masses like galaxies and stars. They can shoot off neutrinos, which scientists are trying to detect at IceCube in the south pole (it just recently got finished). Oh! and dark matter and antimatter are completely different things. Antimatter has been created in the lab. Dark matter has not and is more unknown.

    My Poem

Yes, it is a shakespearian sonnet. I wrote it for my English class hehe, but I had fun doing so...

    Clothing

Why not be nude in public when it's warm? Why not raise our kids to be okay with it? Where there not nude societies with better sexual security than ours? (Native Americans, Ancient Greeks, etc.) Clothes are for being warm... And fancy, expensive clothes are just silly...
  22. The amount of entropy in the entire universe is always increasing due to thermodynamics. Entropy is the amount of energy in a system that is no longer able to do work. When something can be done, there is entropy. When nothing can be done, there is no entropy. I've always thought of it like this: the amount of potential energy in the universe is always decreasing. Entropy is kind of the opposite of potential energy, I suppose.

    My Poem

The Universe expands at an increasing rate. I observe the night and the stars that shine. I notice how various, complex, and great, And wonder how more there are than mine. With star and planet in sync like clocks, How alike are we to them, how same? The forces governing the large, cosmic rocks Are akin to the forces which give us fame. Could our actions or even our complex behavior Be nothing more than an impending reaction? Does life itself require a grandiose savior, Or is it a simple human misconception? For the matter responsible for even our flaws, Are objectively known to follow universal laws.

    Agnosticism

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agnosticism In your opinion, do you think agnosticism is a good philosophy? Do you agree with it? Do you not agree with it? Is it the best way of looking at things, specifically religion? Which type of agnosticism sounds most like your beliefs? I'm just curious.

    Nukes!

I see. I think it is a freedom to scientifically and technilogically create nuclear weapons, just as an expirement; although, i suppose it is unnecessary to make thousands of them. As i said before, i think we need to mature socialy and governmentally before our species can handle the responsibility of making newer, dangerous technology. War and terrorism is silly. Nothing more.
