  1. See, that's what blows my mind. I don't know anything about this stuff, so I'm easily amazed at the process. I've had to do some light reading on hormones, and even that seems "designed". How is it that science explains how all of these processes - hormones, enzymes, amino acids...etc - all came together to work perfectly together to make a functioning animal? I find this very fascinating.
  2. I don't know anyone who was killed by maggots or leeches. And I don't think Mosquitos are a relevant killer of humans. Bacteria though, that's a good one. I actually thought about disease and parasites after I made that post. I guess they could be our population check. So, are you saying we are not on top of the food chain?
  3. You're joking right?
  4. Nicely put and I agree wholeheartedly. And most people I know don't seem to understand this at all. Most folks see arguing as a negative. I prefer discussion over debate, but most of the time discussion seems to turn into debate. I recently ran into this problem with a co-worker during a discussion on psychology and criminal behavior. The moment I challenged his premise (that human advancement is bad), he got noticeably pissed off about it. I didn't even really have an opinion, I just wanted him to explain himself. Next thing I know he's using political platforms to justify his position. I wish people would quit being so dramatic about philosophy and deep discussion. It takes all the fun out of it.
  5. Actually, that's what I found more disturbing than anything. It reads like a guy pursuing a girl. This kid seems to realize his power as the one being pursued and seems to somewhat enjoy the attention. I didn't read all of it, but I read enough to know Foley is a disturbing man.
  6. Well, I guess I'm technically challenged because I tried that little button and it turned red and that's about it. I tried quoting after that and it still didn't include all of the quotes within the post. I don't see it doing anything different at all. I'm sure I'm doing something wrong...
  7. I don't know that it's liberal, but it's a good idea.
  8. Awesome...if I wasn't already married I'd propose...
  9. Is it also not plausible that men kill each other as a built in check and balance system? I mean, if you're at the top of the food chain, who's going to eat us...but us?
  10. Yeah, it's the ones with the bodies that we saw. Of course, they were still rather tame compared to faces of death. I'm sure you've got some gorey ones in mind. The ones we watched didn't have any dead kiddos or anything heart wrenching. Just raw meat photographed from the 60's.
  11. Yeah, we used to have to watch these films in Driver's ED. And that's without even establishing any criminal drinking and driving behavior. Of course, most of us thought these movies rocked!
  12. And did something change with the Quote button? I thought it used to auto-magically wrap up quotes within quotes rather than just the initial quotes. Now if you're quoting person A's post that contains a quote by Person B, it removes Person B's quotes. Does that make any sense at all?
  13. I have done that with tortilla chips and shredded marble jack/cheddar. Let it cool down a bit where it's almost the same as it was before I heated it up...and it lost all of it's melted flavor. I'm inclined to believe YT on this one for sure.
  14. Thanks, I had no idea. I wonder if there's a study on how many people prefer melted over non-melted. I'm sure we'll find that people who prefer melted cheese have much higher IQ's...
  15. 99% of the time I reject launching a witch hunt. This falls under that 1%, where there is no good reason at all for not acting on the information. That is extremely explicit. No ambiguity. Nothing tame at all. If the emails were all they had, then yes, I don't see any reason to burn anyone at the stake. But if these instant messages were in someone's possession for 3 years, then that is shameful and unexcusable.
  16. We were talking about taste today, yet another subject that we are clueless about. Were wondering why melted cheese seems to taste better. Is it just a texture thing that we interpret as better taste?
  17. Dak, you're completely misunderstanding my post. Just a few posts back I posted a clarification. Because I didn't want to be misunderstood while being judgemental of Cal's girlfriend. I then got a reply on that post from Gutz that said "huh?". So that post is in answer to Gutz. This has nothing to do with Cal or his girlfriend issue. Sorry, I didn't mean to stray from the topic.
  18. Amen. I would even suggest "obstruction" in this case. What about the good samaritan law? Aren't they obligated to report this? School punishments are a joke. I'm having problems with my 13 yr old, who is basically a carbon copy of myself, because he wants to be class clown. He keeps getting detentions of various kinds for silly little behavior problems. To the point he's getting suspended from school. None of those tactics worked on me when I was a kid. None of those punishments were a deterent. It's worth it to get detention and make pretty girls laugh. And suspension? What a joke. The only thing that worked on me was corporal punishment. When I decided to show off, a swift trip to the hall with a paddle on my ass straightened me right out. It wasn't worth it anymore. They end up laughing at you instead too. It worked great. But it's not allowed anymore. The liberals and lawsuits have driven out the only effective punishment for cut-ups. It sounds like schools have lost their proverbial balls when it comes to disciplinary action. Now we have to drug our kids up with ritalin so they won't embarrass the teacher when they "pursuade" children to behave.
  19. Ok, let me break it down for you. When you're a teenage guy trying to get your girlfriend to do a threesome, or whatever crazy thing you want to try, it's not smart to then call her a whore afterwards. She'll probably never do it again will she? There...does that make sense?
  20. Ok, I'm guilty of associating your avatar as female-ish. Now that's going to mess me up. I've been using a female voice to internally read your posts. Now I have to change it to the internal dude voice. This is going to take some time to adjust...
  21. I also want to clarify that the only reason I'm judgemental of this girlfriend is because she was in a monogamous relationship. I take commitment seriously. But, I think it's great for women to be more sexually explorative. We all get something out of it don't we guys? The last thing you'll see me doing is calling a girl a slut or losing respect for her when she offers herself up as a party favor or has a drunken n-some with assorted strangers. As guys, we're always trying to get women to loosen up and get naughty - then we turn around and call them names and lose repsect for them when they do. That's not smart. We're not going to get women to be that fun with us if we don't take up for them and show respect after the fact. Then maybe they'll do it again and again. Wouldn't that be awesome?
  22. Of course we know teenagers drink. WE drank as teenagers. I'm not casting judgment on your character as much as I'm casting judgement on your individual actions and applying them logically. When I drank as a teenager, particularly when the police brought me home, I was immature and shouldn't have been doing it. But most of us have and probably always will go through this 'right of passage' so to speak of binging and partying. But that doesn't instantly make us mature and respectful. I'm just saying, have fun do what you do but don't kid yourself into thinking you're mature and in great mental shape for deep commitment with a woman. Women are different than girls. Girls are party favors, women are mates. And what's with the embarrassed little smiley next to my witty statements? Do you not understand the difference between obeying the law and using the law as your guide to right and wrong? This is the same line christians walk between god's law and man's law.
  23. If those messages are the real deal, then anyone who kept those messages any longer than a few minutes without acting on it ought to lose their jobs. No matter what, they should all feel ashamed. That is very explicit evidence and someone could have been sexually abused all of this time.
  24. Legally sure. It's legal to do all kinds of stupid things. And at 19, he's too young to be in a serious relationship. Uncle Sammy might not think so, but I do. I doubt the battered and murdered ex-girlfriends of drunken psychos would agree with that. It's more appropriate to be reflective and relaxed...can you guess what would be better? Once again looking to uncle sammy to be the great legitimator. The government is the last place I'm looking for direction on when it's a good time to get married, have children, and die for one's country - or anything for that matter. We live under laws, but that doesn't mean they're moral or just laws - most definitely not sensible laws. I'm going to assume you scanned a little too quickly and missed that chunk of information in the OP. I don't see anything odd or twisted about basing callipygous's immaturity on his lack of respect for law, lack of experience with alcohol and the resultant girlfriend alcohol debacle afterwhich he goes for more ---> alcohol...and a jog. Would almost seem obvious actually.
