! Moderator Note Does this thread have a point for discussion? If not, I will be closing it and asking you to stop posting these sorts of threads in the future. They are a waste of space and do not belong on a discussion forum. Edit: I've had a change of heart. I'm closing all of these threads. If you have a specific question to ask, start a new thread and ask it. In the meantime, stop being a pest.

! Moderator Note Getting a little tired of this, but I will copy paste the mod note into all of the offending threads. Does this thread have a point for discussion? If not, I will be closing it and asking you to stop posting these sorts of threads in the future. They are a waste of space and do not belong on a discussion forum.

Auto Oxidation & Reduction Reactions
hypervalent_iodine replied to Parshotam's topic in Inorganic Chemistry
! Moderator Note Parshotam, I am aware that you have been warned about this before or had it mentioned to you, but you really do have to work on your clarity and your soap-box like posts. It gives people nothing to respond to. Furthermore, if you are going to insist on copy-pasting things from other websites, you must remember to attribute your quotes, etc. to their proper sources. Anything less is plagiarism and it will absolutely not be tolerated. -
Reduce PH of water using Hydrochloric Acid
hypervalent_iodine replied to Rod9966's topic in Inorganic Chemistry
! Moderator Note Parshotam, Please try and remain on topic when responding to threads. None of what you have said is helpful to the OP and does nothing the answer the question. If you don't understand the question, perhaps it would be better to ask for clarification or to read the responses. -
This thread does not need to be open. Please start a new topic if you wish to discuss something rather than responding to 7 year old threads, but do so in keeping with our more recent rules on discussing explosives.

! Moderator Note Well-spotted, Arete. Since they are the same person, I have merged their identical threads, Furthermore, as Darryl has asked to have bans on both accounts, and as I see no reason to keep this nonsense open, I am locking the thread.
-
DarrylForests and his original account, darryl88, have been banned as per request because, 'forums do not represent reality.' The humor of that statement was perhaps lost on Darryl.
-
! Moderator Note I recommend responding to some of the comments and criticisms in this thread instead of spamming websites, or this thread will be closed. I'm removing your link. Please make posts of more substance in future.

A lingual theory of everything
hypervalent_iodine replied to Mike Smith Cosmos's topic in Speculations
! Moderator Note Popcorn, After over 9 official warnings in your log, many of which are for thread hijacking, you should be more than well aware that it is not acceptable. You already have a thread about your python script. Do not derail this thread further by introducing it here. -

! Moderator Note SFN is not a place for giving or receiving medical advice. -
krash661 has been suspended because full account privileges only come to those who accept the rules.
-
! Moderator Note krash661, You were warned once in this thread and numerous times in other threads to keep discussion polite. You seem to be utterly incapable of doing that or following any staff instruction, but it is nevertheless prudent to remind you that continuation of this behavior will lead to your account being suspended.

Cognitive load of being religious and scientific
hypervalent_iodine replied to icehorse's topic in Religion
! Moderator Note Greylorn, this is not the thread to be spreading your misguided opinions on what you term evolution (but is actually abiogenesis). And please, everyone, do not drag this into yet another discussion about whether or not God exists. -
! Moderator Note Also, since this is a discussion forum, it would be appreciated if members could avoid making posts that amount to little more than, 'lol.' krash661, this isn't the first time staff have removed these sorts of posts by you. Please aim for something a bit more constructive in the future.

Cognitive load of being religious and scientific
hypervalent_iodine replied to icehorse's topic in Religion
! Moderator Note I also do not think that this is addressing the OP. Please try and stick to the topic. -
Prophet12 is permanently banned for thread hijacking (again).

You would more likely use AA and maybe mass spec. I don't have much to do with it personally, but the institute I work for uses ICP machines for testing metals and other trace elements. I think you would use FTIR for testing for oils, but not much else. There are various wet methods for biological testing. I think titration is used for things like H2S, ion chromatography can do things like NH4+, Ca2+, etc. GC would be useful if you were looking at volatiles like methane or CO2. What you would use depends on what kind of pollutants you want to test, really.

What is this that I cut out of my back?
hypervalent_iodine replied to northwis's topic in Medical Science
! Moderator Note Please seek medical attention. We will not dispense such advice on this forum. Thread closed. -
Struggling with English because it's not a first language is, IMO, distinctly different from the use of u, coz, 4 line running sentences and what have you. Obviously we're not going to penalise someone for genuinely struggling with a language they don't normally speak. ! Moderator Note I will agree that this should be closed; however, I will do so temporarily for now to give other staff members time to review it.
-
! Moderator Note As with the other thread you posted in, it would be beneficial for all if you could please make better use of the English language. It is very hard to read a sentence that is 4 lines long and contains no commas or any other form of grammar. You will also find people here will take you more seriously.
