  1. You don’t get banned automatically for having a certain number of negative rep points. However, it is my experience that members who manage to acquire nearly 50 neg reps in less than a week don’t stick around very long.
  2. My previous post was a gentle reminder to you that if you wished to discuss specifics on some of your ideas (as requested by MigL), that you should do so in another thread. I am not a climate scientist. I have no interest in trying to decipher your ideas when all evidence suggests that you've barely thought them through yourself.
  3. ! Moderator Note Is this actually a brain teaser / puzzle or just some ill-defined question you've come up with?
  4. I believe you would be best to seek the advice of a patent attorney. I am personally not very familiar with the process.
  5. That's not our job, it's yours. If you're the one coming up with the ideas, you're the one who needs to be able to support them with evidence and to provide some sort of rational framework for building upon them. So far you have failed to do this on all counts. Please be aware that it is in fact a rule of this forum that you comply with these mandates. We are a science discussion forum, not a place for people to offload their unsupported and unscientific dreamscapes.
  6. ! Moderator Note We do not do other people's homework for them. Please show some attempt at an answer and explain here you are stuck.
  7. ! Moderator Note Alright, we're done here too.
  8. ! Moderator Note Yep, we're done here. This is a science discussion site. We expect that you support your ideas with actual science, not nonsense anecdotes.
  9. That didn’t answer my question. Why didn’t it work when you tried it? What happened?
  10. ginaboyle275 has been banned as a probable spam bot.
  11. ! Moderator Note thethinkertank, unless the very next post you make in this thread contains scientific evidence to support your idea, then this is getting closed.
  12. ! Moderator Note If you're going to make outrageous claims, please also provide your evidence. I'm afraid that Buddha does not count as a reputable source of scientific evidence here. The existence of human immortality, to the best of my knowledge, is not supported by any science.
  13. ! Moderator Note If you wish to discuss something, please outline the topic and points for conversation. This isn't a place for distributing pamphlets.
  14. ! Moderator Note Stop spamming the forum with this question.
  15. Algae and Cyanobacteria use photosynthesis, and they are very much not plants. Unless there is some other context missing it seems that the teacher / answer key is incorrect. Could you clarify what you mean here?
  16. ! Moderator Note What's your point? What do you wish to discuss?
  17. What isn't working about it? How are you performing the reaction? Have you tried using K2CO3 instead?
  18. The member you are responding to hasn't visited the forum for almost 7 years. You are unlikely to get a response.
  19. hipster doofus has been banned following repeated attempts to infiltrate SFN with unsupported nonsense.
  20. I don't use them, but Google suggests that anything above about 10% water is extremely harsh and unpleasant. I suspect that the low boiling point and viscosity are not well suited.
  21. It’s hard to say with just m/z, especially without knowing where those numbers are coming from. Are you monitoring consumption of your triazole by TLC? How good / pure are your reagents? Are you doing everything very dry?
  22. They're making solid alcohol. I believe, but am not sure, that once you make the carboxylate with the NaOH, that plus the heat you generate allows for the alcohol to become encapsulated, giving you a powder. You can use a similar process to make gels using Ca(CH3CO2)2. Other types of commercial solid alcohol use carbohydrates (see here).
  23. I mean, I never said it was an esterification. I don’t believe it is, for the reasons you’ve noted. You can generate esters using base and the carboxylic acid, but you would need to pair it up with the alkyl halide rather than the alcohol. Can be a bit finicky, but it’s doable.
