  1. Limxy, since this is obviously a homework question, I've moved the thread to the appropriate forum. Now, since we don't give answers here, can you share with us what you've done? Are you familiar with what pH is and have you been taught about ICE tables at all?
  2. Of course it's okay! Welcome to SFN
  3. ! Moderator Note And closed. You already have a topic on this, cofu, so please don't open any more.
  4. ! Moderator Note Split from 'People who believe in god are broken'. Also, I'm closing this to avoid further animosity and letting you two take a breather.
  5. Consider it done (and thank you).
  6. I appreciate this is off topic, but since Athena has decided to enter personal grievances in a thread and not to the people who are supposedly out to get her, I am posting this for clarification's sake: The only bind you're in is the one you've constructed in your own head. Athena, none of the mods are or have been mad at you for anything that I am aware of and even if we were, we'd hardly stoop so low as to ban you on the basis of personal opinions of your character. However, it would nice all the same if you could extend us a courtesy and stop accusing us of things we've not done. Edit: cross posted with the Cap'n. What he said.
  7. ! Moderator Note Everybody, Back on page 1 of this thread I made a comment that if this started getting out of hand, it would be closed and it would be closed without hesitation. This is a final warning. Get back on topic and stop attacking religious belief or the lack thereof and those who choose to adhere to it. And rigney, you should know better than to address someone with personal attacks. I would also strongly advise you not to ignore mod notes in future.
  8. ! Moderator Note Rigney, please try to stick to the topic. I'm not going to keep giving people a list of what this thread isn't about.
  9. ! Moderator Note DrDNA, this thread isn't about iNow and it isn't about the existence of God. Please stick to the topic.
  10. One thread per topic, please. Thread closed.
  11. Ah, well in that case I would recommend having a look at 'Organic Chemistry' by McMurry. It has an excellent beginners level chapter on NMR that would be well worth reading. Additionally, you can always post the spectra or specific questions about the chemical shifts and splitting of your compound here (if you're tutor is okay with it). We won't give you the answers, but I'm sure people here would be more than willing to assist you in understanding.
  12. NMRDB is fairly good (much better than the software in ChemDraw), but be wary. It's by no means accurate and isn't spectacular at taking into consideration secondary effects. I would use those sorts of things as a rough guideline and not much more. As for the OP, it depends on how much detail you want. Any decent o. chem text will give you an overview of how to interpret NMR and a tiny bit about how it works, but they generally won't go into any real depth and won't cover things such as fine splitting, etc. I'm not sure about specific text books about NMR, but I will have a look and get back to you.
  13. In Australia, the legal age is 18. Personally, I think that there are very few people at the age of 18 who have the mental maturity to really commit to such a thing. If you'll excuse the anecdote, although I myself am only 23, I am a far cry from the person I was when I was 18. I've grown a bit, developed a bit more and learned a number of things about myself that have significantly changed the way I perceive my life. More importantly though, has been the change in the way I relate to the people and things within it. I have had a number of close relationships with friends and family change or end completely simply because the value I once held in these interactions was altered or gone, which is a direct result of the changes within myself. While that may all be anecdotal, I suspect that that type of situation is not too uncommon in people around my age and younger. I myself am not particularly fussed about the idea. I don't object outright and if it ever came to pass that I was with someone who asked me and who I was comfortable with spending the foreseeable future with, then I would say yes. At the same time, it's not the be all and end all for relationships for me and, 'will you marry me?', is not a question I would ever actively seek out. I suppose the main reason is that I just don't see the need. It's a piece of paper that gives you a few extra legal perks (doubley so if you're trying to get residency in you partner's home country) and one that doesn't seem to really hold much value to most people of my generation except as some vague symbolic artifact and the cost of the wedding itself. Perhaps I'm just a cynic. I don't celebrate valentines day either and very, very rarely do I do anything for anniversaries. From the Australian Bureau of Statistics: I also found this: And this, which I think is particularly interesting: No. Couldn't care either way.
  14. ! Moderator Note I received a message from a member not long ago about my above mod note, so I just wanted to make something a little clearer to avoid confusion. I was not saying that anyone is/was right or wrong in what they are/were saying. I could have phrased this all a bit better, but my point to Sato was that his responses were a little uncalled for in their approach. It wasn't really an official warning so much as it is a reminder to keep things civil. Sato (and everyone else), if you think someone is being obtuse or deliberately misrepresenting what you are saying, please use our report feature to inform staff and let us deal with it. (And a thank-you to the above mentioned member for messaging me about this)
  15. ! Moderator Note Anders, a quick revision course in our rules seems to be necessary here. ! Moderator Note Staff have received numerous complaints about the nature of your posts and while you haven't explicitly made any hate speech, the underpinning sentiments presented in your posts culminate to give the same effect. As such, they are in violation of rule 1c. and they are to stop. This forum is not the place for soap boxing and it absolutely is not the place to air your grievances about people of non-Caucasian ethnicity. Anymore threads of this nature will be closed (this one is also closed). Any attempts hijack other threads with racial slurs will be removed. And if you keep this up, you will be suspended.
  16. ! Moderator Note Sato, give it a rest. Questionposter has been very polite and patient with you in trying to understand what you're saying and you're just being rude in return.
  17. ! Moderator Note pantheory, this is not the place to advertise your thread. Link removed.
  18. ! Moderator Note Changed the name of your thread. Princess, can you please start naming your threads so that people know what they're about?
  19. I think John's point was that if you start making things up outside of their standard definitions, then you could you could get your proof to say almost anything you wanted, which makes it fairly useless in terms of its ability act as a valid counter-proof for something.
  20. ! Moderator Note Moved to speculations. jozef, please be aware that we don't allow people to post their own hypothesis in the main Science forums. This area is reserved strictly for current and accepted mainstream science.
  21. ! Moderator Note After preliminary discussion with staff, this thread is being closed pending a full review. ! Moderator Note Since BlackJack21 has been found to be a sock puppet account of another user and since this post is related to a string of posts regarding synthesis of illicit substances, this thread is remaining closed.
  22. BlackJack21 is banned as yet another sock puppet of 00rich.
  23. ! Moderator Note Arknow, this isn't a place for advertising your website. I've removed the link. Please use this site for what it was intended for - discussion.
  24. Can I ask you what the solid is? I'll admit that this is kind of a trick question, since after having had a look at your previous posts, I'm about 99% sure I know what you're making. You wouldn't be making this as part of a research project, would you? Your IP says you might just be.
  25. ! Moderator Note Split from http://www.scienceforums.net/topic/65051-is-space-digital/ Policarpo, please do not use another person's thread to peddle your hypothesis. I've moved your post to speculations.
