returning insect bite

! Moderator Note See a doctor. This isn't the place for medical advice. Closed. -
! Moderator Note I have hidden the last two posts. Quit with the personal comments / insults. MigL, that goes for you too. Eldad, you need to tone down the language. If you can't post respectfully, you will not be allowed to post,

! Moderator Note Could you kindly all get back on topic. If you want to continue this tangent, do so elsewhere. Edit: on second thought, I've moved all of the off topic posts to the trash. Please open a new thread if you want to discuss that line further.

! Moderator Note Let's stick to the topic of the OP.

Increased spam - working on solution
hypervalent_iodine replied to CaptainPanic's topic in Forum Announcements
Another PSA. We are aware that there is a lot of spam hitting the forum, often around this time. Unless the spam has been around for a day or more, please do not report it. Chances are we will see it before we see your report anyway. As stated above, clearing away multiple reports is about as much of a hassle as removing the spam accounts. -
Can anti-matter travel faster than light speed?

! Moderator Note I changed the thread title to better reflect the OP. -
I realise this is too late for the intended purpose, but to answer your question regarding balloons: no. Normal balloons are not good at keeping in hydrogen. You can mitigate it partly by using helium quality balloons or by placing one balloon inside another, but you will always get leakage. I wouldn't trust either set up to keep the hydrogen inside for days.

Is there any studies that says homosexuality is natural?

! Moderator Note You are welcome to start your own thread on this, but dragging this thread down specific rabbit holes - which is against the spirit of the OP - needs to stop.

You can name it such that there are three and still be technically correct. Your first name is not correct. Consider that you have given two numbers for the two ethyl groups, but you have not indicated this in the prefixture (i.e. with 'di' to indicate 2 groups). Regarding your next questions, the first step would be to identify another 6-carbon continuous chain in your molecule that only has two substituents, and work from there. As Fuzzwood has said, you will need brackets.* *You don't necessarily need brackets for naming it with two substituents if you are familiar with iso / n / tert / sec naming conventions. If you are not, then don't worry about it and continue as above.

Menstruation and back pain

My understanding is that it is just a result of uterine contractions, which radiate pain throughout the nerves in the pelvic region, which includes lower abdominal as well as lower back pain. -
Suggestions on a Scientific Calculator
hypervalent_iodine replied to Meteo_Zegarra2018's topic in Mathematics
I will preface this by saying that I have not done much math, either during, before or after undergrad. When I did ODE's and PDE's in undergrad however, we didn't use a calculator at all, and were not allowed one in the exam. You may find that getting such a powerful graphics calculator a waste of resources for similar reasons. With that said, either the Casio or TI would be fine. When choosing between the two, I would think it's more of a personal preference than anything else. -
There is computational chemistry, but there is a heavy physics / math component to this. It is nevertheless very interesting and increasingly important. Pretty much anything else involves heavy wet lab components. Kahn academy is a good start. The books a lot of places use to start general chemistry are Zumdahl and Zumdahl, and / or Blackman. If you wanted to go further, Clayden's book on Organic Chemistry is fabulous, as is McMurry's. Shriver and Atkins have a good book for inorganic. I can't comment on phys chem, as I've always done my best to avoid it. One thing I cannot recommend enough is to keep your toes in at least one other discipline, such as biology. It will be immensely helpful to you later on.

What is the worst job you have ever had in your life?
hypervalent_iodine replied to mad_scientist's topic in The Lounge
This is getting bizarrely personal. What are you hoping to glean from all this? -

Moved out of home pretty young. Didn't have money or anyone to teach me when I got my learners permit. You get used to it. I live in a big city now and public transport is pretty good, so it's never been a huge issue. I'm finishing off my PhD in medicinal chemistry currently. I love it. -

I couldn't really say if it's fed into my current role at all. It did give me a good work ethic. No idea about mileage either, but I also don't drive and don't have a licence currently. The walking and cycling I do has kept me fit, and given me a love for hiking.
