You seem to be asking about two separate things. By number, I can only assume you mean CAS number, but these certainly don't cover every compound in the universe. That would be an absurd and impossible task. Figuring out the CAS number of a known compound only requires that you have access to the Internet. Equipment for identifying or characterising a compound is something very different, and there is no one thing that would do this. There are very many techniques chemists use, and which of those you emlpoy depends on the compound, and your knowledge of what it is already.

I haven't seen where you've shown the EnChroma results, just some random tests of your own. The EnChroma test should specify what sort of colourblindness she has. If it doesn't, try one of the many others the Internet has to offer.
-
You can get her to do colour blindness tests online so you can see what her problem actually is. EnChroma has a free one.
-
None of what you've said in any way supports your claim that she sees yellow for green. Not being able to distinguish between shades of blue is not that same thing. If she's colour blind, there are plenty of tests that can tell her what type of colour blindness she has. Does the EnChroma one not do this? If so, what did it say? And just to add, no one said she wasn't colour blind. We're addressing what you posted regarding her seeing yellow for green and green for yellow. I'm not sure that would even count as colour blindness, even if it were true.
-
Okay, you're clearly not hearing what people are telling you here. All you've really described here is a person who doesn't know the name of colours, not someone who sees green for yellow.

Need to learn to basics to advance level.

Kahn academy is a great resource. In the way of textbooks, I would recommend Blackman's Chemistry. We use that book to teach low level undergrad at my university, and it's fairly comprehensive. -
How does space get inside of an inflating balloon?
hypervalent_iodine replied to JohnLesser's topic in Physics
! Moderator Note JohnLesser, this fingers in ears approach of yours really isn't going to work here. This thread has trailed a bit from the OP, and your obstinance tells me that you have no real interest in discussion. Thread closed. -
Well, miracle of miracles, she was actually very receptive to my more detailed break down of the picture via PM. There's hope for us yet.
-
I have a suspicion she is still in school, so I'm trying not to be too harsh. Yes, this was my biggest gripe with it. Besides it being plain hogwash
-
Who knows. The link she posted with the image is even more perplexing: http://healthsachoice.com/supplements/are-synthetic-and-natural-vitamins-the-same/
-
Thanks, all. Good investigating. The OP's response for clarification was this: So completely meaningless. This is from a parrot forum (I have lovebirds) in a thread about diet. Research is a bit thin on the ground regarding optimal diet for all the various psciattacines people own, so threads on it can get a bit silly.
-
In another forum I frequent, a member posted the following image as an argument regarding the difference between synthetic and naturally sourced vitamin C. It's obviously rubbish, but I'm really struggling to tell what the pictures are actually of. I posted in this section as it looks very vaguely biology-ish...I really am at a loss.

Any Tangible Medical Benefits for Circumcision?
hypervalent_iodine replied to Gavinchi's topic in Medical Science
It's more that it's inherently non random. You're exclusively asking people with presumably limited (comparatively) sexual experience about penis aesthetics. -
How does she know?

language barriers
hypervalent_iodine replied to mantraphilter's topic in Modern and Theoretical Physics
! Moderator Note That's not how this works. If you want to discuss your ideas, you present them here. Starting out hostile towards those with the education and ability to engage with you will not help your cause. Thread closed. You're welcome to open another in the Speculations section if you wish to actually have a conversation. -
Any Tangible Medical Benefits for Circumcision?
hypervalent_iodine replied to Gavinchi's topic in Medical Science
Exactly who did you ask that of? People from your school? That hardly seems like a fair sample pool. -
It's really just because otherwise things get too hot and fumey, as EE says. No need to over complicate it.

How does space get inside of an inflating balloon?
hypervalent_iodine replied to JohnLesser's topic in Physics
Fair enough. I'm not well versed enough in physics to know to spot the analogy. -
How does space get inside of an inflating balloon?
hypervalent_iodine replied to JohnLesser's topic in Physics
It doesn't? The air inside the balloon comes from your lungs, and the air inside the box either partly escapes to maintain normal pressure, or remains in the box with an increase in pressure (almost certainly the former). Perhaps you could make your question a bit clearer? -
I can't think of any question to ask.
hypervalent_iodine replied to JohnLesser's topic in The Lounge
If you have genuine questions, please feel free to ask them. Your thread that was closed did not read this way, however. I didn't see a single question mark in your OP. Heck, even the title was a bold assertion. People did reply to you, with actual science, and your reply to them was that they needed to rethink or to listen. Instead of bullheadedly screeching the same point over and over, and ignoring the perfectly valid math and science others did in fact try to share with you, perhaps you should take some of your own advice and rethink your stance from an objective standpoint. We won't tolerate any less here (we are a science forum, after all), and yes, you will be banned if that's how you plan on using this forum in the future. -
I can't think of any question to ask.
hypervalent_iodine replied to JohnLesser's topic in The Lounge
No, it's more of a follow the rules or go elsewhere forum. -
I can't think of any question to ask.
hypervalent_iodine replied to JohnLesser's topic in The Lounge
It's more relaxed, but the rules still apply. The lounge is really reserved for general chit chat rather than talking about absolutely anything you want. -
! Moderator Note Sure, but you can discuss why you converted without this devolving into a debate about the inconsistencies of the bible, etc. it's related to the topic at hand, but it isn't the topic itself.
-
! Moderator Note This is not a thread about the holes in the bible, or whether science is a religion. There are other threads for that.
-
! Moderator Note Spirit of Science, This is a discussion forum. If you don't intend to discuss your ideas here in full, then this thread is going to be closed. We will not permit you to get around that by simply telling people to go read your website. The science is discussed here in this thread, or not all. Furthermore, I have removed your email from two posts ago. This is not a place to advertise or attempt to drive discussion elsewhere. Do not respond to this mod note within the thread. Please report this post or PM a member of staff if you have an issue with it. Edit: I have also moved this to Speculations. Please take note of the additional rules this forum has.
