So; I was watching UKTV documentary last night; Have I Got News for you is on, with Elton John and Janet Street Porter. Anyway. At the bottom of the screen when the camera pulls out cmes this writing, in a font similar to Times NR (one after another); "For Eltons Taxis ring (077189) 343264." "They won't let you down." "Unlike Ray." "Bastard." Wierd. Now this came up twice during the show, when the camera pulled back, obviously not subtitles as they never said that, the font, and they wouldnt say something like that on the show. Finally at the end of the show, the camera pulls back and a message springs up; "Next week; Britney Spears and Prince Philip" Which seems to be a joke refering to the host of Quiz shows saying whos on next week. Anybody any info on this? I assume that nobody can "hack" into the computers and do that from home, but could a disgruntled worker be cocking about with it? Was very spooky.

Note that i have changed the resistor values so that the gain is now 5

Indeed I will. Im buying most of the components from http://www.rapidelectronics.co.uk, this is because im doing 2 projects the other is a power amp for my car/mp3 player and maplin dont sell high power p-channel mosfets for some bizarre reason. I am however buying some strip board from maplin tommorow. Here is the schematic for the power amp;

Cheers for the responce. Have you got a link for one that worked? (a PIC programmer)

I have planned an electronic data logger for my car based around PIC16F84(A) (cheap & have found a circuit diagram for a PIC programmer i can build for it). Here it is; Just wondering if any of you had any idea; i) On programming the chip (using a C compiler) to make it to do what i want it to do (as described below). ii) How to wire up a pic chip once it has been programmed. The Flow chart is attatched; 4 Sensors (thermistors etc) give an analogue voltage to an individual input on the PIC. The PIC (i hope) has ADC capacities and converts this voltage into an 8 bit binary value. The 5th sensor is a (de bounced) reed switch, which gives a high per fan resolution, and somehow (maybe using a shift register) this needs to be converted into a binary value; maybe the sum of highs is stored and sampled on a regular clock cycle. Now another 8 bits needs to be appended (bearing in mind this is an 8 bit chip), so that when each data byte is multiplexed along the serial cable into the computer, the programme on the computer, knows which sensor data the following byte will be. Anybody got any suggestions on wiring/ coding this? Cheers Ed (A VB programme will be written to display graphically the incomming data.... Yes I know.)

This is nothing new, infact fruit flies were the first organisms purpousely sent into space.

http:// http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transactional_interpretation For those wondering. *sigh* its been a while since i last did anything in php.

Transactional interpretation thankyou very much.

And I assume you grant the same fate to Pandas Walrusman.

merg. somebody explain what BIKINI is an acorym for, in terms of British Military Defence.

I'm curious if cars release carbon dioxide into the atmosphere?

Under the high temperatures in the combusting chamber is my understanding of it. -
/me gingerly puts up hand. Aleast it teaches emo kids how to code badly.

Ye who charges me less insurance for a hybrid car can have my babies. I dont see why that should be the case though.

Indeed.

just buy the following book; Black Holes a Traveller's Guide. You dont need to do anything else
-
Well what i did was; 1. Buy some interesting physics books (i.e. Pop Science books) they're interesting & they will teach you a lot of stuff.2 2. Download the specification of the course your doing (get the right exam board...) that usually tells you what you need to know.

LASER's and the photoelectric effect?

Hmm Ive been wrestling with this for a while now (hence my return to sfn ). It goes as follows; Imagine a wire of 0 resistance. OK so unless there's a rule of physics im missing then we arn't loosing any energy in the wire. So i decided to wave a flornscent tube around the wire. The magnetic fields around it make it glow. . So wheres the energy coming from? By introducing the florescent tube am i introducing a voltage drop?

Indeed. Although you could say, what if the fire wasnt there and the forest just got bigger, and hence the carbon resevoir got bigger? I dont think that actually can happen in most situations though.

well, when a rock is liquid, its magnetic polarity can change. When its solid it is stuck that way forever. By seeing what polarity each band is you can count the number of years back to when the continent was formed.

He just believes that humans life is much > animals life, that doesnt make him a hypocrite. Its not a feeling i share particularily.

well i google image searched mouldy soap. It didnt come up with anything which probably means no. I dont think mould particularily likes NaOH as a growth medium nor is its preferred food pure fat.

when i posted a thread about my 1000th post it got deleted. Man the mods are slackening up the rules these days .

Can we get and actual figure for the power needed to make such a spark?
-
I do. But i think we'd be pushing the boat out a little to far for me to describe myself as a scientist. I mainly use it for the bands/ to quench my insecurities regarding who does and does not like me.
