I don't know if this has already been posted. http://www.fda.gov/cder/drug/infopage/ppa/ Should I be alarmed of this? I've been taking such since I can't remember everytime I get a cold. I haven't noticed any action from our Bureau of Food and Drugs. Most of the drugs for colds contain PPA; what are some drugs for colds that don't have PPA?

my father is old (60), has asthma, hypertension, and diabetes type 2. i think it is very reasonable why he should quit smoking. aside from the effects smoking would bring to his health, i think he should allocate his resources to the medicine he is maintaining. but scaring him with what might happen doesn't really help. i even tried reinforcement mechanism; told him that i would stop this if he would stop smoking. but his colleagues are smokers that he would always be tempted to take one stick. he tried to quit once but he didn't get past a week.

yup, I agree. from my own experience, i thought of an approach that would give me the result that wouldn't hurt the agency's objective, because i was afraid that in using the other, it would come up with something negative. but then i don't really know what the results would be. (i'm still working on it and being as objective and impartial as I can)

what? i don't get it. half the people dumber than the average. more like most people have average (somewhere in the middle) IQ

or not. i get urges to cut myself. so i use the scalpel i have to make some cuts on my arms. i am careful though not to cut too deep and damage arteries, tendons, and muscles. i find satisfaction in doing this. but i hide the cuts, especially from my parents. i don't want the trouble of answering their questions or explain myself. i don't even know why i do this. i can control these urges though. am i crazy?

and people believe that the brain and the mind are two separate entities

people who seldom take aptitude tests get low scores in tests eg. IQ test, IMO. (is this even relevant? lol) anyway, what dak said makes a lot of sense. more people would rather choose to play and party than be interested in training their brains to get high scores in IQ tests. education and upbringing also matter. how you are brought up would affect your interests. but then, most of the population would really opt for whats fun.

Give me your opinions about global warming
carol replied to rigadin's topic in Ecology and the Environment
well what do you have to say about this? a beauty queen once said said stop global warming and all of us who heard her laughed -
I don't know if this would help. http://http://cwx.prenhall.com/bookbind/pubbooks/martini10/chapter22/custom2/deluxe-content.html

i've read about the third question. they feed on nectar. bats also eat the pollens and sometimes the flowers. about Q1. this fruit is usually sold in the market. is it alright if the data would be based on how much the farmer earned? would it be valid? maybe i'll try the nets. thanks:)

i'm working on a research about pollinators and how they affect the yield of a certain fruit. i have some questions. i don't really ask for specific answers. related ideas or hints would be appreciated. 1. ways to measure yield of fruit tree (considering both quality and quantity) 2. is there a way to control the type of pollinator that will have access to the flowers? 3. what "reward" do night pollinators (bat and moth) get from trees with flowers that bloom during the night? i'm also having a hard time thinking of how to control some variables.

I think so. And I am a biology student. IMO, the teachers tend to adjust to the level of thinking of the students, how well they could understand certain concepts. While some of my professors (oops!), i'd say, are pretty lazy and lack the enthusiasm in imparting knowledge and skills. An upperclass biology student, who is my friend, even commented that my professor doesn't have the what it takes to teach us a certain subject (oops again!). Regarding math, i graduated from a high school that offers math subjects higher compared to the other high schools in my country. Well, when i got to college i told myself that i am so tired of math and decided to take biology. there were a few math subjects that i passed with flying colors. and to my surprise, i missed solving math problems. Biology in our university focuses in ecology, IMO. We have been trained doing some field works and we are glad of the availability and proximity of areas we could get data from. However, I think we still lack mastery of significant concepts that one should learn to be a good biologist. I took a career competency test. On how confident I am of my knowledge and skills to be successful in my chosen career. I was rated poorly. This feeling is compensated for I think I have grown socially. I joined some organizations, which I think would give me challenges and would allow me to make use of my time wisely. I still hope I could be trained as well as I want to be trained.

I'm not really into physics so i don't know a lot about it. do you know of any lab equipment that can be used in a kinematics lab activity? maybe something for laws of motion.
-
I'm having trouble thinking of a project our class could submit for our physics project. It could be something that can be used in lab activities for kinematics and dynamics. i think our teacher expects lab materials or equipments. however, i think they already have almost everything (i guess). to be quite original, i was thinking of submitting a lab procedure for a certain activity. but i still have to ask her about that. about the lab equipments, maybe you have something in mind;)

I have read these points in a magazine all about psychology. The title of the article is something like ten politically incorrect... about human nature (i can't remember the whole title). It is argued in the article on why men are attracted to blond women or to women who look like Barbie. It has something to do with looking healthier and appearing to have a greater capacity to have children. I think I have found the article... http://psychologytoday.com/articles/pto-20070622-000002.xml Psychology Today

i have a copy of that book too. anyway, the number of vertebrae is very variable. its like asking how many caudal vertebrae does a cat have. it was asked once in our Comparative Anatomy of the Vertebrates class. one of my classmates answered 20. and the whole class laughed.

i guess i would agree that the number of cigarettes consumed per day increases with age. my father tried to quit once but he is always with people who smoke. so he went back to his vise and now he is totally dependent on smoking. but i noticed, he sometimes doesn't finish the entire cigarette. about a quarter or half would be left from the cigarette before he throws it away. he is 60+ now. does this mean anything significant?

it's gone now. so i guess it was just an allergy. but i still don't know from what. I can't remember anything i did that was unusual or applied something new. I had an experience with food. I was told not to eat shrimps or any food product with it because of my asthma. well, that's what my parents said. but i refuse to obey the advice since I don't notice any reaction from eating shrimps. About a year ago, I ate and my face got so itchy. It swelled. Well, do you think that I would be allergic with a certain substance but I take it all the time, the allergic reaction only appears when certain conditions are met?

lol. i rarely drink that's why i said i drank more than usual. so that night i'm not really drunk, my senses were functioning like i never took anything alcoholic. anyway, i got home at 9 pm (quite early for someone who came from a party), and slept at 10:30 pm. i now remember that i woke up at 1 am and started scratching. but i also went back to sleep. when i woke up and changed clothes, i noticed the redness. well, i went to the doctor and he also got puzzled. he said it might only be an allergy. so he gave me an antihistamine and said to come back if the redness persists.

when i woke up this morning, my midtorso is as red as a tomato, my belly and my backside too. also, there are white spots randomly distributed as if these areas have been left out by blood. Last night, i drank more than usual. I don't know if it might be related. do you have an explaination about this?

antimicrobial agents apply to substances that control the growth of bacteria, fungi, or viruses. since these subtances include a lot, their mode of action is also very diverse. for example in an antibiotic, the binding site in prokaryote(bacterium) is different than that in eukaryote, such as a human. antibiotics could bind to a component of a ribosome which could affect the protein synthesis.

I think there would be 61 types of tRNA. A release factor binds instead of a tRNA when the stop codon is reached.
