bascule; The Federal Government is not capable of sustaining it's obligations, made through any of the welfare programs, it's as simple as that. Any postponing of the total collapse, will be at the other cost, which all lead back to an inevitable collapse of the nation itself. Pick your own source for CURRENT obligations based on longevity and over -X- number of years, you can pick from figures 50T$ to well over 100T$, currently obligated for, with no means to cover. With nearing 310 Million, people in the US, around 100 million already receiving some assistance, with less and less wealth to draw income from, can not be configured into a positive scenario. Privatizing Medicare, SS, possibly even throwing in the unemployment/disability or other State/Federal obligations into the mix, under the private sector, at least would give a shot to long range benefits for those under 50 today. Government, not only the Federal is in serious need of assistance itself. "Obama's bipartisan deficit task force"; This is pure political rhetoric, a campaign style argument and of no value to any potential solution. The TASK force already exist, in possibly 20 different committees in both the House and Senate, already, all have both parties represented, already being paid and have the AUTHORITY to enact change. It's Obamas job, to enforce any actions by Congress, not mandate those actions.

Everyone should remember, the Executive Budget, is primarily a request, Congress has the final say and it's unlikely this President would not sign off on any final budget, shutting down government. Even if he did refuse, Congress has the authority to by pass the executive with emergency funding. Bush II, never did sign the 2010 Budget, which started in Oct. 2009. If any areas, where States have influential Senators, say Texas/Florida, in the NASA or Science arena, those Senators actually have more power than the President.

Wouldn't "middle of the chest, indicate a digestive problem? At 23 yo, how would butter have anything to do with it? Don't know if this describes an anxiety attack, but sure sounds like what I was diagnosed, many years ago, at 21. On an unrelated item, Rush Limbaugh recently thought he had a heart attack, described it on the left side his chest, Any one familiar with muscle tissue breaking loose from the rib cage and the feeling?

Another nail in the coffin of the human made global warming myth
jackson33 replied to Horza2002's topic in Climate Science
If conditions in the each layer of atmosphere can influence Global Surface Temperatures or in fact the moisture of the lower, that could not be a direct reaction to human activity. The same would be true in Ocean conditions (oscillation) at sea level, which also never gets discussed. Almost forgot...........IMO. Horza, with out getting involved with another AGW thread, the mention of moisture is really not all that new. If interested in another skeptic of AGW, by a reputable Climatologist, formerly a NASA Scientist and author, you might check out 'Dr. Roy Spenser'. His research has also gone ignored and primarily based around surface moisture. By the way 'swansont' he changed his tune dramatically, on retirement from NASA, but had been trying to promote his theory for years. He is also a regular contributor to the 'Rush Limbaugh Radio' show, who pulls no punches, calling AGW a "HOAX". http://www.drroyspencer.com/ -
GISTEMP: 2009 tied for second warmest year on record
jackson33 replied to bascule's topic in Climate Science
I have previously sited a 2008 Petition Project, will now go further with the qualifications and actual names, many of which (if truly interested in both sides the issue) you should recognize. 31,000 American Scientist, is not a trivial opposition to AGW... -

Pangloss; One final thought, primarily to let you know, I've read your reply; Partisan and obstruction, are not equals. Your arguments have been the latter and yes, the Republicans did what ever they could through procedure, to hold off what seemingly was inevitable. I really don't think they were thinking the Massachusetts Election, but what was accomplished, allowing the Christmas recess for members to hear what the home folks had to say. The announced retirements (Dodd/Dorgan) indicated to me, results from the recess and the surprise package of Brown's victory, a little topping on the cake. Obstruction was never denied often admitted by Mitch McConnell, but keep in mind the Administration set several dead lines (opposite of obstruction) for Congress to complete this bill, none of which were met. One primary cause for concern both sides, has been the rush, for a bill that for the most part took effect in 2013/2014. The items/regulation to eliminate 'pre-existing conditions', additions to Medicare (which States pay 50%) or anything incremental, probably could have been passed last year. As for bad behavior, it's the system and both parties have and will used what ever means they can (IMO should) since the first day's of this country. Stubborn, maybe, but I've read a good share of the House Bill (3000 pages), know a little about how things seemingly harmless measures, can become other than what was intended. Then in the end, maybe if Congress (Not the President) insist on reforming HC, they can NOW come up with something acceptable and understandable to more of the electorate, than what was...say in 50 pages. How can any of this "harm the country"?

Brown, has made this election a 'referendum' on the 'Obama Health Care Plan' which plays to his advantage. Yes he is, by all measurements, a very moderate Republican and by no means conservative, but electable in New England. If you want to watch something interesting 'Joseph Kennedy' is the third candidate in this election. I'm sure you have heard the phrase 'Obama Voter'. Joseph Kennedy, is NOT related to the Teddy Kennedy bunch, but is a Kennedy and ironically the patriarch of that clan, husband of Rose Kennedy and Father to Ted, John, Bobby and the rest, name was Joseph. This Joseph Kennedy (used and on the ballot, not Joe), has gone from less to 1% point to near 5% now and I'd bet clears 5% in an election, he would receive 1%, or less, without that name. On the Health Care Plan, if Brown wins, the Democrats have figured out, the Bill already that has passed the Senate, if accepted by the House in conference, will not require any additional votes. This would be political suicide for many democrats, but then I feel many already realize they are toast and I honestly think Obama (probably being told) thinks in his case, he can overcome this by 2012, I feel incorrectly being advised. I'll predict a too close to call, possibly contested result at worst and at best IMO a 'Projected Winner', Mr. Brown, when the poles close. Your comments...
