  1. agreed on all above points. another thing that can possibly be the cause or at least a major driving factor is vengence by bush jr for his fathers bush sr's. iraqi assasination attempt {edit: bleh, you spammer } since atinymonkey made two posts in a row, i was referring to this:
  2. Tao of Physics by Capra is a pretty good book
  3. i know i'm opening a can of worms, but what the hell, this should be fun eh? what are your thoughts on this? especially considering some of the very accurate predictions and demonstrations as shown by it's creators (James Lovelock & Lynn Margulis) about our own planet, mars, and even the Daisyworld... {edit: this should be in Biology, but I fear this will angrify Sayonara )
  4. i hate reviving old threads but i'd really like an answer to this; by the way, reading some of those responces was simply amazing. how gullible and naive people are is amazing. case in point: BubbaGump04 and his moronic petition
  5. why simply stop at relativity? why not pick any other theory or better yet all of them and prove them wrong using similar tactics?!?
  6. no, not yet, not by a long shot
  7. to what end? i personally wouldn't want to live that long 'till i loose my sanity and be unable to control my bodily functions unless ofcourse they develop something that extends or improves one's cognitions.....
  8. yeah, but vacuols also help with the intracellar digestion if i recall corectly it's just in animal cells they are not as big and can easily be overlooked
  9. http://ilil.essortment.com/liverscellsstr_ricl.htm
  10. A: Only time and further techonological breakthroughs will tell Q: Why does the one planet in our solar system that should be closer(ecologically) to us, isn't close at all?
  11. no, it's an organelle
  12. A: Well, they do need to rest and replenish their lost brothers and sisters Q: Greek or Roman mythology?
  13. in my earlier post when i said this wasn't THAT graphic, i really meant it. i promise that i do not go and look for that type of stuff, but once upon a time a jacktard friend of mine came over and wanted to show me a *cool new* website he found. and naturally w/o any warnings about what's on there. so, the stuff that he showed me, makes this pale and very insignificant in comparison as far as being graphical.
  14. Why? To show that they are serious Post it on the internet? Bragging rights Crazy? A matter of perspective which they don't seem to share I like this last question enough to think it warrants it's own quotation box It is easy to things like this to any living organism especially human if this organism is reduced to a mere object. Say you have a friend and you want to kill him, well as long as you think of him as another human being, you'll have difficulties in carrying out this task. But, should you start thinking of him as: "The enemy", "Garbage", "Rat" or any of the other million such fun names, then killing him won't be a problem at all since you're not really killing a human according to your own interpretations of the names you've labeled him/her.
  15. me too statistically, it is very, very possible that there is life out there. realistically, we'll probably won't ever find it. you're right oh i dunno, how about anything 'god' related?
  16. the code is much more evolved in vb than it is in basic. while vb maybe is backward compatible, the reverse is not true. i never tryed compiling the basic code in vb as i never saw a practical reason it doing so, but i guess i can try when i get home and see what that does. according to this, vb will compile basic code if it's of version 4.5 basic or 7.1 professional basic http://www.fys.ruu.nl/~bergmann/history.html
  17. Visual Basic source: it's a whole different language, different syntax, etc.
  18. what in the world are the designer babies?!? by the way, i voted for all of them, which i guess is the equivalent to none of the above. {edit} what exactly do you mean by: my idea of colonization is setting up a long term facility or society on a piece of land, in this case mars and not a simple mars walk for a few hours and then return to earth.
  19. i know a few highly experienced programmers who've done that either because their os isn't meant for the same architecture and or just cause they could do it. one of my friends recently was the head engeneer for pioneer and his task was to design an os that'll work on the pioneer digi boxes and he had to create a new compiler to do so. why, i don't know, but i'll try to catch him(kind of hard as he's still in the silicon valley) and ask. the time before that he was working with some high end printers(can't say which co. he worked for though for legal reasons) and had to do a very similar thing. some of the toys he has at least from the last time i saw him are: 3 sparks, 3 sgi's, 1 mac os X, a high-end midi mixer-something don't really remember...... and a host of other godly stuff it'll be programed under the os of your choise. since he's a hard-core c++ designer, the code can be made under windows, linux, unix, etc then it has to be ported to the system in question and recompiled. i haven't done c++ in a few years myself, but with c++, your ability to do things is only limited by your imagination(and skill ofcourse) which is something that everyother language lacks.
  20. no, vb is easier.
  21. as scary as they look, they are pretty fun to mess around with
  22. the skeletal structure appears to be well structured and balanced for many species so they wouldn't have a problem moving around. however, if it/they fell, that would have been a whole other story. for instance, on huge predators like gigantosaurus and tyrannosaurus and similar configuration, had very big heads in proportion to their bodies and needed very heavy tail to keep them balanced. hence their semi-useless front limbs(arms), should these have been developed further or longer, it would pose a major problem. ofcourse unlike depicted in jurasik park movies, these huge monsters most likely were not that mobile. also, the skull configuration would problably mean that many of these animals had a hard time seeing things, especially when running, etc. other very heavy quadrupedal dinasours such as brachiosaurus, tricerotops, etc probably had their weight distributed more evenly, etc. then for the highly agile and mobile animals such as the velociraptor, they had to use their oversize tail like a whip to help them give them an extra boost when they run, etc. the general idea is that most dinasaurs used their body to their advantage as much as they could.
