VB that comes with MS Office is not the full thing and it's not enought to make a stand alone app. Some of the things you can use that for is to make your Spreadsheet More effective or perhaps write a new version of ILoveYou virus. If you want to program in VB, get a Full version of Visual Basic and a Pretty big book to go with it. While it'll be very pricey at a retail store, you might want to check your local college for a Student's version which will have everything you need for starters. VB and Basic/QBasic is a completely different beast. If you want an environment of VB but can't afford to pay 200+ bucks for it, you might want to look for a Borlands C++ Builder. This is usually much cheaper, I got my version for about $70 for the full version but you'll need to learn C++, otherwise, the basic functionality of Borlands C++ is almost exactly the same as VB.

I've seen much, much worse. You being in the military, should of all people know that this war has gone far too long. Suddam is now gone(politically), but we have another nimrod to deal with, and after him, who knows how many will replace him.......

VB is slightly easier to develop windows only applications because for many of the functions you get to use pre-defined code, such as for Buttons, Menu, etc. all you do is take these given tools, drop them on a form and then link them(make them functional) with the appropriate source code. Doing so purely in C/C++ would mean that every little thing has to be rewritten. But then again, that's why there's Borlands C++ Builder which is pretty much VB, same functions(drag & drop items), feel and look, but it uses C/C++ code. plus with VB it's easier to communicate with say SQL server. in most cases or one of the ways, to start making a new OS from scratch, is to 1st design a new compiler, then using that compiler say it'll use ABLERTLEE code design an os. then use an assembly language to link the hardware with the software

i don't know. never been in that kind of spotlight b'4. but then again, like i said in post 8, they start telling people in HS that this is a very serious offence, blaming it on ignorance may be out of the question. unless one was commatose for the majority of the HS years.

yeah. especially if he knows for sure that his prof turned the paper to the committee. now if the prof would only give him an F and trash the paper, that's a whole different ball game.
-
doesn't matter. even if there was just one sentence that they could trace to another paper or document and find it to be exactly the same, it's still plagiarism.

not really. it's more fair than not, actually. suppose you've spent your whole life researching something and say you've finaly found the cure for AIDS and HIV and nobody else in the world knows what you know or has found what you found. you woudln't want someone else to rip your rewards for you, or do you? but then again, this is why they start grooming people in high school so that they don't make such mistakes in college

no med school. and if the committee decide to keep him in school, he most likely will be placed on an academic probation, which means any and i mean ANY deviations will cause him to be expelled from the current school. plus there's the extra added bonus of having this for a long time(if not perminantly) on his academic record
-
that's a damn good question. only 2 things that come to mind. 1) if he has some truly superb arguing/debating skills, to go and plead his case and hope & pray that the committee members will show leniency 2) if he has any body with sufficient power so that some strings could be pulled and this craptastic situation overturned

no, i say this is Survival of the Fittest. survive by any means possible and reproduce faster than would ensures the survivial of the species(in this case it's virii, but, same difference, really)

actually, for a plant, the best colors of lights are Red and Blue. green is simply a gradation of the above two. everything else is reflected back.

damnit, never in my life have i ever imagined owning one of those rat dogs. but evidently my found found one she and my son liked, so now i'm stuck with a chiahuahua(sp?). and naturally i can't say no to them both anyway, i know that they tend to be pretty aggresive to strangers, but how are they to kids? this pup is only 8months or so and my son was pretty rough to him last night. so i wonder are these dogs pretty good with children? or do i need to get him through some heavy duty training??? any help is much appreciated.

well, according to the rules of the 2 universities i attended(and still are), plagiarising is an automatic failure and a kick out of the class. but they might persuse it further and possibly kick a student out of the school....... it's a serious issue, so they take it very seriously also, i think an issue such as this, will stick to one's academic record {edit: forgot to answer for question specifically} plagiarism is plagiarism. it doesn't matter if it's a Doctoral Thesis or a homework.

not sure if it's in the right section, but hopefully you won't have much difficulties answering this. after seeing a weird hubcap on a vehicle, i had this nagging question, but 1st lets give a little background. on the hubcap, there was a picture of an eagle right in the middle and ofcourse when the wheel spins, the eagle image is reduced to blur. so now my question: how can one make a similar design if at all possible so that when the wheel spins, the image stays in the center and is not affected by the rapid motion(blur) of the rest of the wheel? one of the things i tough might be possible is the create this image like a blur in itself when the object is non-moving. for example: take an image and paste in in the center so that the head is pointing straight up or N, then one that's pointing more or less NE then one E then SE, so on and so forth. is this possible? another thing, if it's possible to create such an image that will stay centered and highly visible at high speeds of rotation, how can one calculate for instance how many revolutions the wheel make per second at say 60mph. i know that if you have the total number of revolutions then getting such finer details is easy, but assuming that all you have to go on is that the object(or a wheel as in this case) is rotating at speeds of 60mph, but there's no data as to how far it went(distance) or the total amount of revolutions in that 1 hour at speeds of rotation @ 60mph. ???

that's called hydrolysis(using electricity) and it's very expensive. {edit: i meant: electrolysis}
-
very true. since there is no pure Hydrogen gas anywhere on the planet, extracting, especially in sufficient numbers is a super expensive task.
