  1. k thanks that makes sense, would it be fair to say that groups 1-13 have a negative electron affinity, since they want to get rid of electrons?
  2. ok, well thanks i get it
  3. so H=H (this is the bond) I realize it's a single bond but those 2 dashes represent the two electrons betwwen the two. so the bond axis would run right throuh those two electrons and through the nuclei?
  4. then what would have happened to all of the air in the bag? it just "magically" condenses. I am sorry if this is a stupid question, because I am probably just missing something
  5. so it's kinda like the desire of atoms to have a complete set of electrons or 8 electrons in their outer energy levels? if memory serves (I don't have a P table on me and I haven't yet cared to memorize it) potassium and lithium are two alkali metals, would they havbe the sam electron affinity, or would potassium have a greater affinity due to its greater mass?
  6. what??? can you explain? I am trying to learn all I can and I have no idea what this means. please tell me
  7. what is the actual formula from which one can keep using to derive all the digits of pi?
  8. TI-83+ can't do 1% of what a 89 titanim can do. I raced my 83 and 89. 89 is 4 times as fast. face the facts man. and its graphics are literally 4 times better, not to mention it holds 10 times the info. Calculators are my special field. GET THE TI-89 Titanium. Find a mint condition one on ebay for 90 bucks. it does everything all the way up to multivariable equations and dif-eq and all kinds of AP sciences just get it. I unfortunately also have a TI-83+ that I replaced. IT WON'T HELP YOUR SCIENCE GRADE IN COLLEGE!!!!. The TI-89 even has all kinds of fancy games and calendars social studies apps, science apps, foreign language apps, social life apps, geometry apps (geometer's sketchpad, booyah) it is what you want, no doubt and it has like 200000 bytes of RAM and 150000 Flash so there. IT PWNS everything else. 89 titaniums are also the highest grade calculator allowed on the SAT's!!!!
  9. no, use books. maybe the internet if you're desperate
  10. I am new to all this fancy stuff in science (hence my name) and just starting to teach my self all kinds of new stuff. can you explain how that mass seemingly "disappears"? (I know it really doesn't actually disappear but it isn't exactly where you would most obviously expect it to be.)
  11. yes, there are 32 in the n=4 level (not sublevel, sublevels=orbitals which are divided into s,p,d,f, etc, I don't know what comes next) so yes you would use 2n^2=32 your L Q# (Azimuthal) would be the sublevel, btw
  12. could the electrical pulls supplied by the electrons even hold the protons in orbit?
  13. um, I am new to all this fancy sciency stuff, but I am very eager to learn. So anyway, I have been doing some research and there are some terms i just don't get so, This is going to be my official what the "heck does this word mean?" post so I will post new words regularly. what do(es) the following word(s) mean?: bond axis-???
