well, kinda i am more saying why does water evaporate even if it does not boil. so like you need to add J. to water to get it to boil before it starts steaming, so why is it that the water will evaporate when it is not hot enough to steam. are you saying that it tries to defuse so everything in the area (lets say it is in a jar) is the same quantity?

does a gas change tempp when presure is changed.

ok well after talking to him i guess i missed a big part. in the lab we did the volume changed... so we had a plunger and we pushed it to different volumes and the pressure increased that way, at the time i guess it did not mater. guess it did anyway. -
ok, so this i cant seem to get a clean answer. So why is it that something like water having a boiling temp of 100 still evaporates at room temp? i came up with two answers and want to see if they are right 1) the pressure of the water particles is a bit more then that of 1 atm and thus slowly break free, or 2) the substance bonds with the air and slowly evaporates that way. is one of thous correct?

Ok i have a feeling this is not the write forum to post this in but someone may know So i want to have something that can measure how much power i use. Main purpose is i want to see how much my solar panel collects. So it is in DC and at about 12 volts. Is there a way i can do this? i tried searching but nothing.

Ok this one has been getting me, Does the tempature of a gas change if the presure is changed? I could sware i heard it many times before but my chem teacher says that it does not. some one cair to explain
-
yeah figured that out, it went a lot quicker then i thought. on the same note, does anyone know the exact ratio of backing soda and viniger? i get crystals, but when added to water and boiled and cooled, they do not go to their "unstable" form.
-
well i cant think of a good vacume idea... Know of any idea i can make one, i have a refrigerator compressor, so all i would need is something i can put the liquid in to heat it up any ideas?
-
yeah sorry, sodium acetate Which one? The sodium acetate is for making the hand warmer (sodium acetate and water) liquid co2 just for fun no real need just would be cool (i guess i will stick with liquid nitrogen)
-
Ok i have two questions. The main one is so i want to make sodium acetate, i know i need viniger and baking soda and boil it off. I know have it in a vacume helps but does any one how to speed it up else wise? i can have it in a vacume, but if there is a faster way then that can you tell me. Also on another note, my chem teacher was talking about geting dry ice to liquad co2. He will not tell me but i know it has to do with presure and you need 3atm to get it. Is there a easer way? some why i dont need to spend 100$ on a clear presure chamber, some way i can do it on the cheep? thanks so much edit sorry about the spelling cant spell

o yeah, sorry pure stupidity. it was 1 kelvin and not 0.
-
ok. this is really weird but here it goes. I want to prove my chem teacher wrong by saying the exact temperature of 0 kelvin. He says its -273.15 C but i cant say for sure. google, my ti-84 calc, converter sites say -272.15 C but others like wikipedia say -273.15. What is is  Is it really that hard to get it right (hypthotical question)

how about windows media encoder
-
ok. i know it is a weird question but i have a Lorain floral rectifier. model number is a12f50. It should be giving out 56ish volts dc but instead it is giving out 88V dc. Do you know of any why to reduce the voltage? it has to be able to with stand possibly 15 amps. or even better if there is just something i need to change.
-
Yes. I put a 1/2 cup in a bowl. and put a penny in and copper wire in and notheing, not heat no bubbles... BTW just went out and got it. so it is still H2O2
-
Something is wrong. It is going to be the store bought hydrogen peroxide, but i got nothing. If i am right about the store bought one, can you tell me where is a good place to get some? (if i can get some in a collage or a local store that would be better but if not a site would work.) BTW. it is 3% hydrogen peroxide

Sweet! thanks this seems easy enough!
-
I am not sure... I was hoping to hook up a pump and hock it up to my welding tourch. So maybe enough to fill a 2 gal contaner. or something close to there
-
sorry. i was thinking a LOT of O2.
-
Is there a way that you can make something out of house hold stuff (or cheep stuff) to make and collect o2?
-
WOW i feel like a donkey. Thanks. I am now going to hide in a corner of my house for 10 days.

I think this is a good place to post this but i may be wrong. I have a small solar panel and a car battery charging off of it (sorry deep cycle) Bu the last time i used it to charge my phone by going from the battery (DC) to a transformer (AC) then to the charger which canges it to dc again. This was horable! it draned the battery compleatly off a small phone battery. Is there a conseritive way to do this most likely from DC to DC. The battery is 85 amp hr at 12 voltes and my phone is 5V DC at 1 amp. how can i do this? also will it matter if the battery changes voltes. it is at 14V mostly but can go to 10 before it is dead.

ok i will try to help as much as possible. I will make it a before and after so what we have now and what we want after doing what ever. Before: a large battery charger. (input 112V output now 58V at 12 amps max.) there are 8 deep cycle (gel) batteries linked to make 58V and 160 AH (each battery is about 14V EQ and 13V float and each have 80 AH) This was used as a backup for a phone system that used DC so no need to convert it. But the phone sys is broken and we want to use the batteries as a backup source. So we want to get a 12V DV to 110V AC inverter. After: 8 batteries linked up so 14V total with 640 AH and have a 12V DC to ac inverter attached. running continusly. The problem. Need some way to bring down the power from the charger from 58V to 14VDC so it can charge the batteries. BUT 12 amps MAY be going from the charger to the inverter. So resisters are probly out of the picture. So just if this is needed. we will be using at least 10A from the inverter to our computers. Hows this?

Hello all. At my job, we have a problem. Our APC batteries are bad and would cost 250 for new ones. But we have a "battery backup" the past compiney left us with 8 car batteries. thay have it so it is 58 volts and so is the charger. We were going to just make the batteries 12 volts and the max AH. and get a very good inverter. But that would require us to reduce the voltage from 58V to about 14V with a max of 12 amps possibly going through. Does some one know of a cheep way of doing this?
-
This is probily easy but i have a cheep APC with a 12 volt battery. I also have a 12v deep cycle battery lying around and was wondering if it would be safe to use the deep cycle batery to get more amp hrs. So my main question... is it safe

i found this in a website http://woelen.scheikunde.net/science/chem/exps/copper+zinc/index.htmlbut cant figure out how to do it. One question is what is a "spatula full" i tryed googling it but nothing and i dont think they mean a large spatula. Also i did not heat it up to much (dont have a glass beaker yet) but i would say it is 80F ish. Any idias? thanks
