  1. Maybe initial contact is in different ways that are difficult to count unless you know what to look for , when at a bar it's , ' Would you like a sexy drink ? ' , whereas , at a math convention it might be , ' Would you like to talk about this sexy integral ? ' and during a chess convention it's possibly , ' Watch this sexy chess move ! '.

  4. CaptainBlood , Let f(x - 2) = x^2 + 2 Find f(3) , This is exactly what I would write on paper , f ( x - 2 ) = f ( 3 ) , x - 2 = 3 , x = 5 , f (3 ) = ( 5 ^ 2 ) + 2 , f ( 3 ) = 27
  5. You may be correct in thinking that you have not gone over the speed limit . I didn't do the math as I am unsure of exactly what you mean but if it is as simple as reading two numbers on the sides of a graph and seeing which side of a line you are on when you make 2 perpendicular lines then maybe you are correct . Truly and honestly , if you get away with this road traffic offence you may then be setting a precedent depending on what the reason is . This precedent could affect hundreds and possibly thousands of cases . Do you see the bigger picture ? I once got overcharged by my government to the tune of Euro 8.00 , but I realised that the law which made the deduction by the government possible was valid from a few days after they made the deduction . I realised that there could be up to 450 000 people that this affected which is a total overcharge by the government of Euro 3.6 million . If the government gave me my Euro 8.00 back I would be happy but I am sure I am happier that they have the Euro 3.6 million . I know I am correct , which is all that matters to me .
  6. Swansont , I understand the graph you provided and the link is totally relevant to what I am asking about . For the unknown reader who is yet to understand transmissivity and the different wavelengths that make sunlight , I provided the 2 links and the graph as background information . As for a question , here I am again . Why , for soda lime glass , is the derivative of transmissivity with respect to wavelength so severe of a drop when the wavelength is in a narrow range around approximately 2.6 micrometres ?

  8. As an Australian , what do you want to do with the foreign language that you learn ? You already have a foreign language in the sense that English is foreign to the country you are from . Do you speak native Australian ? , though not a foreign language it would be a good place to begin learning a second language if you don't know a lot . If you intend travelling to Europe I think English will help you as it will be spoken by a lot of people , but it will also hinder you if the object is to learn another language . German , Dutch , French , Spanish , Polish , Russian ..................................... the list continues !
  9. Maybe you could use some sort of a timer switch at the wall socket , if a wall socket is used , that can be set to allow electricity to get to your charging apparatus for different amounts of time .
  10. Matt880 , It only takes small mistakes to invalidate legally any information you may privately obtain . Is it about time you went to a solicitor ?
  11. As sunlight passes from air through glass and back into air again , i.e. , through a window , what constituents will be extracted ?
  12. npbreakthrough , my reply is short and to the point . I am trying to encourage you to take the idea to a physical existence stage , which can lead to two more options , then . You can accept the idea will go no further or you may then notice something you had not noticed before and continue on . You may start to design a door and finish designing a window . I don't need to make myself feel smarter , there are people in these forums who I will learn from and if people learn from me that is also good .
  13. npbreakthrough , Your idea is failing at the concept stage . Would you prefer to spend a few dollars to make a prototype , then fail at the prototype stage or maybe learn a valuable lesson ?
  14. The Germans announced a couple of days ago that they are getting rid of their nuclear power stations within 10-11 years .
  15. There are many things in our daily complicated routines , which fall into place naturally , like when almost without thinking we awake , wash , dress , eat breakfast and go on our way to do our daily activities . When long periods of time are spent awake , there is no waking up another time for washing , dressing and eating breakfast to fall into place as the natural next activities to be done . Don't be tempted to wear the same clothes for 3 days and to wash once in total before you fall asleep exhausted , dirty and smelly . The world is a weird place when a person stays awake .

  17. I noticed that the fireplace where I live has an inner arch shaped geometrically like the inner arch in Stonehenge and the mantle piece standing on two side columns is shaped geometrically like two columns with a crossing stone of the outer circle of Stonehenge . Is Stonehenge in some way an ancestor , architecturally speaking , of the modern household fireplace .
  18. As an example , Trump tower was built within the last decade ( I think ) and it could not have had any influence on the thinking of those who built the Empire State building because the Empire State building was built first . Stonehenge was built a long time ago and it is very difficult to know which other structures of that time may have influenced it's construction or those it may have influenced . People move around from place to place and see with their eyes the modern ways . What is the current best reputed estimate for the period of building of Stonehenge ?
  19. http://www.ehow.com/...ant-tulips.html I don't know if this video will be available to you as the link may not work but the information I extracted from the page , says , dig holes 3 to 4 times as deep as the bulb is wide , usually about 6 to 8 inches deep . I planted tomato seeds way too deep at 35 mm and they are only to be planted at 10 mm or so and they all had no problem finding the sunlight after a few days . If you actually mean , does the bulb move up or down to be in the best place it can be , I would just think it starts to make roots if conditions are good and genesis has begun .
  20. Just a short note Essay , if you post images try to keep the memory small because otherwise they will fill up your personal memory allocation pretty soon , meaning you might have to soon delete some of these images from your posts . You could probably request more from an administrator but I don't know if they will allow it .
  21. It is difficult to make a photograph of these pieces and have them looking like the view from the human eye . I could put more detail in a higher pixel density image , but they are a good approximation of how they then would be , already . In sunlight they look very shiny , whereas in the shade they look comparitively dull .
  22. This thread has answered all I wanted to enquire of , thanks to all , hygroscopicity is very interesting !
  23. Marat , In the 21st century there are books , magazines and newspapers written to communicate views as censorship has changed dramatically in recent decades . People appear on state television and radio and commercial television and radio to communicate their views to the public as again there is more freedom . Also , discussion in schools , colleges and universities takes place , for example . Lastly , a knuckle sandwich is bad practice unless you morally deserve it . But , be aware that , there are plenty of cases of people who have received one over the years and due to how they took it or how they landed on the ground it became their end .
  24. Marat said , Ireland as well has developed that peculiar integration of Catholicism, government, and culture that hardens into a type of cement which blocks all critical insight into its flaws among nearly all of those born into it. The Irish people are free to exhibit a critique of Catholicism if they wish . This is the 21st century , not the 1920's .
  25. I've never read any of the Bible apart from when there were small quotes in mass pamphlets at Catholic masses , which I don't remember . There are many fine minds who know exactly what the bible says and if ever I wanted to know a thing or two , which is probably unlikely as I just try to sense the generalities of what's right or wrong and I'm happy with that , I'd probably be surprised at how responsive modern religious orders may be to a well written and courteous E-mail .
