My chem book tells me that Oxidation = loosing electrons Reduction = gaining electrons I am really confused why those meanings are called like such... what does loosing electrons have to do with "oxygen"? and What does gainning electrons have to do with "reducing something"?? gaining is obvious not reducing... Any help? Albert

I know, Silencer, but maybe you guys misunderstood me abit... I mean, if I want to create a very simple OS, and create the libraries myself (from scratch, so not using any OS's API), where do I write the codes?? and where do I compile them?? Albert
-
I thought that Windows isn't built on top of Dos!!
-
thx Silencer, so if I have the windows API + Windows, can I actually create a Windows-Like OS?? if so, any example?? thx Albert
-
thnx Cap'n Refsmmat!! but you compile the OS source code on top of what???
-
then how about creating Unix from scratch?? Unix was first created in Bell Lab... Let's forget everything How do you start a OS from Scratch?? How are you going to compile?? Albert

Can you guys solve Einstein's riddle??
albertlee replied to albertlee's topic in Brain Teasers and Puzzles
deductive reasoning??? is it helpful for solving the riddles like the Einstein's??? Yes, German has fish, that is what I got! -
thx for responds, Silencer so, in brief, what is the process (do you think) of making OpenBSD from scratch by the OpenBSD os programmers?? Albert
-
Einstein wrote this riddle last century and said that 98% of the world’s population would not be able to solve it. Are you a part of that 98%? * There are 5 houses that are each a different colour. * There is a person of a different nationality in each house. * The 5 owners drink a certain drink. They each smoke a certain brand of cigarettes and also have a certain pet. No owner has the same pet, smokes the same brand of cigarettes nor drinks the same drink. The question is. “Who has the fish?” CLUES 1. The British man lives in the red house. 2. The Swedish man has a dog for a pet. 3. The Danish man drinks tea. 4. The green house is to the left of the white house. 5. The owner of the green house drinks coffee. 6. The person that smokes Pall Mall has a bird. 7. The owner of the yellow house smokes Dunhill. 8. The person that lives in the middle house drinks milk. 9. The Norwegian lives in the first house. 10. The person that smokes Blend, lives next to the one that has a cat. 11. The person that has a horse lives next to the one that smokes Dunhill. 12. The one that smokes Bluemaster drinks beer. 13. The German smokes Prince. 14. The Norwegian lives next to a blue house. 15. The person that smokes Blend, has a neighbour that drinks water. I solved the question between 1-2 hours of struggling and I think my answer is absolutely correct Can you guys solve it?? Post up the answer and let's check!!

How about this, Silencer, you are not provided with a openBSD cd. All you have is the source code, and, let's say, a compiler on DOS or Windows.......... Can We still compile the source code?? I just dont understand, why you cant compile the source code in Windows, and then install it in partition??? you will do what to me??? Albert

so, Silencer, how will "you" compile an OS, let's say, I gave you the source code of OpenBSD?? Albert

What can we learn from Assembly language??
albertlee replied to albertlee's topic in Computer Science
How long do your guys think to learn assembly language? Albert -
why add extra 14?
-
so, Einstein's brain has a greater mass than normal person?
-
If we can live as long as we want (ie, never age), while we learn, will learning stimulate some matter of our brain that we "actually" become smarter and smarter???? If not, is there a "boundary" of how smart we can be??? Human species revolution has a tendancy of becoming "smarter", why is that?? Albert
-
thx 5614! By the way, what are *.cpl, *.ocx, *.res file types?? Albert
-
What can we learn from Assembly language??
albertlee replied to albertlee's topic in Computer Science
hmm... Do people program in "machine code"?? I find no books teaching "machine code"... Albert -
In java (which is the only programming language I use), the output, compiled file is always *.class file so I assume, under Windows OS, c compiler compiles the code into *.exe but when you compile a whole OS under Windows, will the file be still *.exe?? Albert
-
If we learn Assembly language instead of language such as java, c, python, etc... what can we actually learn from it??? By the way, is there a difference in Assembly language on different architecture of hardware?? Albert
-
Will you have different output result if you compile the source code on different OS?? (but using same hardware) if so how?
-
Just out of interest.... How long does the Bell Lab (I believe) take to make C language from assembly language? and How long does Sun take to make Java from C++ language?? Albert
-
the current one... Albert
-
so Jonathan, what does the program do? (Cant get it from description) and What you can use it for? except changing bootskin! Albert
-
Do you guys know how to compile an OS source code???
