About similar terms in wrting a labreport....
albertlee replied to albertlee's topic in Other Sciences
And secondly, what order do we have to write each of them in a labreport? -
And I dont think a person with the most symetrical, but alien face would be attractive to me...
-
Love looks not with eyes but with the mind Any way, I think the theory of more symitrical the more attractive is wrong, but I might be comvinced that the more symitrical the more beautiful!! Symetry is indeed beatiful, in terms of art and mathematics... Many renaisance artists use techniques like symetry of composition, proportion, etc to form some masterpieces... I think the term "beauty" here means more "precise" to reality? Albert

What do guys mean by "symmetrical", here? do you mean that some one has a face with no symetry? One eye is bigger than the other?... Albert

I am quite confused about the purpose of each of those 3 parts of a lab report: conclusion, evaluation, and discussion.... These 3 particular parts of a lab report generally mean the same to me, so I am struggling when my teacher asks me to write each of them individually in my labreport.... Any help? Albert

What is the difference of electronics andb electricity?
albertlee replied to albertlee's topic in Engineering
I have checked the terms in the dictionary.... Electriciy = the branch of physics dealing with electricity (a form of energy existing in charged particles) Electronics = the branch of physics dealing with the behavior of electrons, eg, in gas, semiconductor, etc.... but more better explanation? Albert -
well, in general case, scientists are mostly dealing with experiments.... And they design the apparatus and build/carry it out themselves.... but, engineers are less dealing with experiments.... They probably only learn the knowledge the scientists have discovered and use it for practical aspects? Albert

umm.......... So how can google make a server that ISP connects to it?
-
As stated in the question, to me, both actually study the same thing.... What extent do they study differently? Albert
-
so google is basically like an ISP, but it does not its bandwidth to users, instead use the whole bandwidth as a website?
-
thx you guys... I am just wondering, I am going to host a website on my own server with a fixed IP, but the bandwidth is too narrow, it is slow to access it..... How can I increase the bandwidth of my website? or For a big website like google, what kind of ISP does it use? Albert
-
so, how can I connect myself to all the website servers, without passing through ISP? Albert

Well, I think the reason why this does not make any sense is much more about mathematical reasonning.... for eg, 3/0 does not make sense, because in any mathematical equation, you cannot devide any number into a complete nothing..... it is like if I sell you a slice of meat, and you "chop" it into as many pieces as possible, every piece may become very very small, but there is still something.. Albert
-
Another simple example that something divide by 0 is not logical 3*0 = 0 if you devide both side by 0, what do you get???? 3 = 0/0 Aha does not make sense!!!

I have read some networking books now, and I know forming network with higher bandwith is mainly due to the quality of lines and its quantity..... but, when we form a network like this, it is only a local network..... how do we connect this network to the world wide web? or in another saying... How does the ISP connect to the World Wide Web while its customers connecting to him as a subnetwork? Albert

What does "recreational mathematics" mean? what sort of things in mathematics is considered as "recreational"? is "recreational mathematics" another word of "game theory"? if not, what is their difference? and maybe their relationship? Apreciate for furthur responds Albert

The Colossal Book of Mathematics: Classic Puzzles, Paradoxes Aand Problems http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0393020231/ref=sib_err_dp/104-9010478-8647951?%5Fencod ing=UTF8&no=283155&me=ATVPDKIKX0DER&st=books On Numbers and Games http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/1568811276/qid=1098480872/sr=2-1/ref=pd_ka_b_2_1/104-9010478- 8647951 Above are two good books about recreational mathematics I found on Amazon, which one is better? More concentrated on the idea of game theory? since for the first book, it is quite weighty, and I was thinking about its quality.... Any comment on those two books? Albert

thx Severian, and Swansont To me, I never remember those formula by heart, only the physics principles, because we could solve problems in many ways...... The reason I asked is this is a formula given importantly from my textbook, and people in my class, just remember it by heart to deal with all kinds of physics tests by substituing the algebraic symbols by numbers.... My textbook is from Oxford Uni Press. I think all the physics "teaching" book should not include equation like this, because people just remember it by heart without knowing any physics principles behind it
-
Swansont, I know there is more than one way/solution to solve any particular physics problem, and I know you are giving another example for this. But, what I am asking is, before v2 = u2 + 2as has been used widely, what did the original maker of this equation come across or, what is he/she thinking to approach the solution of problem? Albert
-
swansont, can you tell me what are the algebraic symbols: W, K, E2, E1, s, m, v2, v1? in your equation?
-
bloodhound, I know much about how you manipulate algebra and such..... but why did the oringinal person (who found out this equation) take equation 1) and 2) and eliminate t from from? What is he/she trying to find? It is like when you find the area under the velocity time graph, and the area determines the distance but how about finding the area under distance time graph? It makes no sense, since distance times time doesnot make anything..... Just like the equation, what is he/she trying to find? Albert
-
I know bloodhound, but, as I have come across physics for several years, I have never face a problem to manipulate those algebraic symbols in this way... the subject v2 does not make sense to physics, why would I find something like the square of final velocity? so, there must be something more in its background, since it is not just algebraic manipulation that you just come accross naturally, but it's an equation that many textbooks taught! Any body? Albert
