    Java

And Stusi, if you are a java programming beginner, I recommand you this book: Thinking in Java, you can download the pdf from the Internet....... This book is tremendous for me, at least, on Java, if you can read it with patience for half year. Secondly, it is possible for java program to work nearly fast as C program, you simply use JIT compiler, but while you loose the ability on cross-platform.... Albert
  2. but, Sayonara, it only tells what is streamming media, and the kinds of protocols the player connect to the server to get the media........... but nothing technically on computer,,,, only some difinitions...... Albert
  3. I found that there are some people say that's the complete source code, and others say that's only 1/40 of the whole source code........... who are right? ps. I think it is just a hoax about Windows leaking its source code, because the story is half year past, and there isn't anything violent yet since then..... Albert
  4. Hey guys..... I thought Windows is not open source........ but in this few days, I searched on some p2p software, and there are lots of Windows Source Code. one of the link is this: e*2k://|file|windows_2000_source_code.zip.torrent| 16496|5506c49ccca12204bab6fe960ce5602c|/ is this real? I doubt how can M*crosoft proof that SP2 is really secure... Albert
  5. Any body? ps, sorry for disturbance..... Albert
  6. I am always thinking, being a java programmers, how do I develop my own JDK? more over, since people can add additional libraries/classes for more functions in java-home for some reasons that companies need, does that mean we can program without using any methods and fields out of the libraries? Albert
  7. Sayonara,so,.. if it is possible to download the file, then how? (what do you mean by how the file is served?) Albert
  8. So It is impossible to find out the real path of the real file? Albert
  9. oh, that's why there is an URL in the wmv file.......... the wmv file is in the temporary file, but it is not the complete file I want, the complete one should be in asf format, right? Firstly, Can any one tell me what does it mean by "streaming"? Secondly, I feel it is very weird about why the URL of my wmv file is connecting to another wmv file which is the same URL of where I get them? because a wmv file is suposed to connect to an URL which is an asf format file...right? Albert
  10. And secondly, the method from 5614 is not working, because I dont have the permission to do "save as" on the "file" menu........
  11. hmmmm, as I have said, the codes after the question mark looks somehow like security ID, because now I dont have the permission to access that media any more, and I get to re download another wmv, to get another URL, the URL keeps on changing all the time???? why??????? Albert
  12. When I was watching a channel on Windows Media player, and I managed to download the 'linking' wmv file, and I open it with Ultra Edit to get the URL of where the real media file from...... but the address seems a bit strange: <asx version = "3.0"> <entry> <Ref href="mms://210.61.218.116/wms.media.hinet.net/d06/ctv/ctv_live/ctvlive.wmv?hicEC4C831A-1910-404E-9573-9AE820CCB6F6" /> <!-- NeTcAcHe inserted previous line --> <Ref href="mms://wms.media.hinet.net/d06/ctv/ctv_live/ctvlive.wmv?hicEC4C831A-1910-404E-9573-9AE820CCB6F6" /> </entry> </asx> and more over, the codes after the question mark seems some kind of ID, because it changes when I downloaded the wmv file at different time...... Can any body tell me how to download this media file? Albert
  13. pulkit, a class which inherits other classes means it has the functions and data of the being-inherited classes................... why just use the class that inherits to make one big object, instead of doing object casting............? any way, maybe asking in this way will make me understand better, can any one give me a meaningful example given with java codes that shows object casting is highly useful, or needed? thx in advance Albert
  14. Can any one give me a real life , meaningful example of object casting using java? because I never find object casting useful during programming, although I know how to use them............ Albert
  15. But I really want to ask, how can people make their own top level domains, like .cc for example? because my friend has websites under that domain...... Albert
  16. yeah, Sayonara, I want to have my own website and own domain on my box with DHCP, but I would like to ask, does IP only change when I restart my computer? secondly, can I make my own domain name server without any cost if my top level domain does not even exist before? if my domain is not under like .com .uk .us etc...? Albert
  17. question as above.........more over, it is about setting up DNS server.. Albert
  18. I have a dynamic IP address, and is there any free DNS server software that automatically change the IP of domain name, so I dont have to change it my self every time I re start my computer? Albert
  19. Ok, let me speak more clearly, I know how to use the programs...... and the reason I ask, again, I have tried fsum, which is somehow a calculator for checksum..... it calculates a few ways, like md5, md6, and many more....... what are they? In java, is there any function that calulates the checksum? because that was how I fix my problem on installing Mandrake..... Albert
  20. Yes, Linux/Unix can also do what ever on Mac,,,,,, but, the great thing I have thought about Mac is the proprietary bit...... That part is really what Linux lack!!! And more over, Mac's hardware, esp its CPU, is so much better than PC!!!! Albert
  21. thx for the responds....
  22. ANy way, admiral, what do you mean? Albert
  23. 5614, I am not soooooo interested in Mac computers...... I just want to be neutral on the information given from the issue I found that Mac is the best OS that it is half open source and half proprietary................ and the issue also stated that big company like Microsoft is also needed in order to build a solution compatible with every vendors, and that is what open source cant do within the community, and that is the advantage of big company. (Although it means Bill Gates will make it proprietary, but that's what companies are doing for ;-)) So, that's why I think that Mac OS X has both Open Source and Proprietary parts that other OS do not have, which makes it so interesting to me!!!! More over, I am not any zealot for Macintosh.... Honestly, I've only trie Mac, but I dont own one..... Personally, I think I am not any people who are either the zealots of Mac or Microsoft, both of them think the opposed system sucks....and believe me, that's the majority. People dont like others who are different to them in mind..... and those are not the wise ones..... Any way, I dont think there is not any advantages nowadays using Windows, because all its advantage in the first place when it first comes out is of the hardware compabilities that Apple dont and Bill Gates makes it with GUI and using mouse so earlier than Unix and Linux.......... but now it seems still so popular, because ordinary people have formed a habit using Windows and does not want to change it...... And from Sayonara, Why do you think the issue is from zealots? I find it really quite neutral and scientific Albert
  24. and also, thx to you guys...
  25. Any way, admiral, I have bought a book called "oreilly mac osx for Unix geeks" and it has many things to do with open source........
