  2. thx mossoi, I have tried to check the md5sum in the images directory..... and I think there could be an error, below is the orginal md5sum file: df2b3e5e259d55081ad17bacc6d33e44 cdrom-changedisk.img 8a98a8fa80055619555c3a2ef41ca74c cdrom.img 6e9796f6df07763cf5fbdc7a2fc65591 hd_grub.img 0bcea9db86050be3181bab0a43d0e74d network.img 45b70937615fbf0bce2bb91ed9a420bd network_drivers.img 9d88fded87b35d7a4c08aa8478352369 pcmcia.img and below is what the fsum checked in the directory: 8a98a8fa80055619555c3a2ef41ca74c cdrom.img 6e9796f6df07763cf5fbdc7a2fc65591 hd_grub.img 0bcea9db86050be3181bab0a43d0e74d network.img 45b70937615fbf0bce2bb91ed9a420bd network_drivers.img 9d88fded87b35d7a4c08aa8478352369 pcmcia.img As the original file has one more file which does not exist (shown in italic) would it possibly be one of the problem? I just want to make sure, so I dont waste on burning a CD... Albert

  4. I have tried with many different CDs and it wont fix....... I think it is the problem of the iso file.... Albert

  19. what a pity,...... Linux seems a bad result on me since it makes me struggling with the hardware compability.......

To dave, As I have said before, I got those pissing-me-off bad CD sectors when my DVD-ROM is trying to load Mandrake in my laptop.......and I am so sure that the CD is fine because it works on my desktop, but not laptop.... For FreeBSD, it is just fine when installing to my laptop.... Again, what is the point of using linux instead of FreeBSD? More over, compared with Slackware, which one is easier? Albert

I have just installed FreeBSD on my laptop....... and when I insert my PCMCIA network card after reboot, it shows this message: card bus 0: <network> at device 0.0 (no driver attached) vbb0: cardbus card activation failed I have search on the Internet for this, and people say there is NetBSD, which runs on just everything, but does that mean every platform, or every hardware? Secondly, is it possible to make a driver ourselves for FreeBSD? Albert
