  1. Very interesting! Thanks for the responses I might come back if I see any new weird patterns
  2. I find clouds really fascinating and spectacular. Today I was sitting on a bench and I looked up and saw this interesting pattern in they sky. There were long straight moderately thin clouds (low down and definately natural). And they were lined up across the center of the sky like this | | | | |. To me it looked like there was some sort of ripple in the atmosphere and these clouds were forming at the top of each wave. I was wondering if anyone had any speculation as to how they formed from a clear sky..?
  3. You could say consciousness is something we all share, and some people are closer consciously than others. That does not mean to say that you could be punished for each others crimes, as when it comes down to the crime there is a choice in doing it, and there's no way of predicting what someone else would choose, no matter how close consciously they are to the person who did the crime. B is a result of A having gone through prison/punishment. A and B are just different instances of the way someone is, realisticly you're changing with every thought you have. You could say that if the time between A and B was only 1 day, by which point B was really regretful about the crime he did and would never do it again and was really sorry, is it unfair to keep in jail? Which I would say no, jail is actually there to stop people doing crimes in the first place, you don't commit a crime without knowing how long you'll go down for if you get caught.
  4. After a long enough time the same, to be honest this is an idea I came up with the other day, I'm still running with it. I was hoping your guys ideas would help mine, I like to learn rather than try and teach.
  5. I really don't see why reincarnation must involve your soul actually exiting your body as some sort of spirit and entering into another fetus as people keep saying. I guess the problem really lies with what conciousness actually is, which I'm not sure we know just yet. If you take it to be neural patterns and behaviour which is specific to each person, then I don't see why the same brain activity couldn't be recreated in another brain/medium. I wouldn't like to say that you'd be able to remember your "previous lives", I just can't understand there being an eternal nothingness. As the old saying goes, nothing lasts forever, this should surely include nothing?
  6. The reason why I didn't reply was actually because I just wanted to read what other peoples thoughts, I'm not a great debater and would probably sound naive. If you just think that you have an Infinite amount of time to be reincarnated, how can your conciousness not come about again? In whatever form it may be, maybe in some bizarre universe completely different from ours. Surely anything can happen in an infinite amount of time? Or is that changing the question to "is there an infinite amount of time?"...
  7. Now my thinking is that when you die, you could wait an inumerable amount of years / universe births etc. until at some point your conciousness will be recreated in one form or another. So to me it seems that reincarnation is inevitable, because during the time you stop thinking, you will experience nothing until at some point you start to think again... However unlikely it may be that it happens. I'm sure what happens after death is discuessed here a lot, but I'd like to know what you guys thought?
  8. Thanks for the replys, I enjoyed reading This all sort of links to this thing I was thinking about the other day; that maybe consciousness is a dimension. I was thinking this because I was wondering whether conciousness / the mind exists in 3 dimensional space? Of course the brain does, but does that mean your thoughts do? If it doesn't then what does it exist in? To me it seems that as you said there is a universe which is agreed on, a "true reality" if you like. But each persons mind warps this reality into a perspective; a different universe. In all of these different perspectives / universes, the persons mind would be acting as a "5th dimension" as it creates the universe theyre experiencing. Sorry if I sound quite nooby, I'm assuming I'm a lot younger than you guys and have read far less books and don't know much about philosophy or anything past A level physics.
  9. Am I correct in saying that this theory says that the universe is splitting into all the possible outcomes the universe can create? From wikipedia: "According to the MWI, each of these possible observations corresponds to a different universe. Suppose a die is thrown that contains 6 sides and that the result corresponds to a quantum mechanics observable. All 6 possible ways the die can fall correspond to 6 different universes." (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multiverse) If this is true, would that not mean that each person's consciousness / soul / life would be seperated into it's own universe, where everyone else is just a dummy with "no soul" if you like. This would techically make YOU the only real person / conscious thing in "your" universe? You would therefore be "God" in your own universe as without your consciousness, "your" universe would not exist? Does anyone have any thoughts on this? Yoseph
  10. Hi I'm new here. I haven't read this whole thread, so I hope what I'm saying might be relevant. I was thinking earlier of what might of happened before the big bang, and I was wondering if anyone else thought my idea was feasable/interesting/or just dumb. Going from an already existing theory: maybe there was a universe before and our universe has come from a black hole inside it. I believe time slows down the closer you get inside a black hole? In which case the universe which a black hole is creating will percieve very little time during its parent black holes rampage through another universe. Perhaps there is some critical mass for this newly forming universe and that's when it explodes, thus being the big bang inside the black hole. Any thoughts would be appreciated, please feel free to point out if I'm being naive. Also, I could probably explain in more detail if what I've said is vague. Yoseph
