      did you send it in Japanese? I suspect there area good reasons why they don't use liquid nitrogen. One is that they are having trouble getting any resources to the site due to the destruction caused by the tsunami, so sourcing and then shipping in huge quantities of liquid nitrogen is probably impossible right now. And on top of that there's almost certainly a physical reason why it's not the appropriate coolant.

During the Vietnam War, I was in the Air Force, serving as a Captain/Navigator (KC-135's and C-130's) and as a Command Briefer, 8th AF Hdqtrs, Barksdale AFB, LA. I have worked in the oil and gas industry for over 40 years (gas processing, natural gas liquids handling and storage, fractionation, marine terminal operations, gas plant Engineer and Manager, Supervising Int'l Project Engineer, gas and liquid meassurement expert, gathering system design and operation, expert witness, etc.
  4. Does anyone know how to get a suggestion for cooling the reactors to the scene in Japan? Approximately how deep are the nuclear piles in the Japanese reactors?
