in a news paper article i read about this topic it said about having it connected to the earth. if your going to power it with electricity it needs to be connected to the earth so that we can get power to it. The article i read said there was a possibility it would be in the sea out of all the flight paths. thank you "Sisyphus" for putting on about powering the elevator.
