Is there any proper way to flush these cells or at least the river accumulating around them, other than coughing?

On this topic I was wondering if there were more bacteria, harmful and not harmful, in the mucus as compared to fecal matter. The reason I am wondering is because i cough up some fairly gnarly stuff. Also when blowing my nose I sometimes have similar results. Thanks Zack
