I saw that comment as a stance on the rights involved. It really shouldn't matter if a woman wants an abortion, or if circumstances force her to make that choice five times. It's her choice, because it's her body. That's the only way anyone can call themselves a free person.

It would still be almost impossible to enforce if this were to become law. Women would be investigated by the police after miscarriages. Citation please? Forgive me, I didn't understand this at all. Which "toxic effects on humanity" are you talking about? Perhaps you could share your evidence? And criminal violence works what way?

But they'll never enact the changes that really need to be made, to turn our healthcare system's focus towards healthcare instead of profit. They can't visualize effective socialist systems that don't also make a capitalist profit, and they don't understand how mixing the two systems in the same programs is like planting weeds along with other seeds in your vegetable garden. Capitalism tends to take over when it's unregulated (something else they protest). It will never happen under Trump, but I'm convinced we need to do more to stop this wealth disparity. Not by redistribution, but with proven methods. Like restricting private schools, so the wealthy are forced to support public education fully instead of lavishing the best on their own children while starving public systems. Ditto with healthcare, standardize the systems so the wealthy are invested in support, so the whole society flourishes. It works elsewhere, the rich still get to be rich, and everyone else is better off so life for all is vastly improved.

Gravity Question, new idea push or pull?
Phi for All replied to CorrupD's topic in Classical Physics
Most of the non-serious science sites will let you wildly speculate. We get students trying to pass classes, so your "progress" isn't appreciated. If you think you have some evidence to support your ideas, you can try our Speculations section. Most people who come here want a rigorous approach to science. You can get what you're looking for just about anywhere. -
Why did white people become more advanced than other races?

! Moderator Note LucasRun was apparently here to advertise a homework service. The added racism had nothing to do with his being spambanned. -

I find your incredulity misplaced. This was an election stolen, perhaps by the Russians, perhaps by the FBI, perhaps by the electoral system, but stolen nonetheless. Clinton won the popular vote, and may have won cleanly without Comey and Putin's interference. While I don't condone the violence, I approve the fact that Americans are protesting something that matters, rather than just sitting back and taking it in the keister yet again. There are a lot of People who feel a need for change who were smart enough to know Trump wasn't the person to bring it. You're seeing a lot of Sanders folks who saw some very bright social promise turn into more conservative selfishness.

Given how long Howard Stern played him for a fool without him catching on, I'd say he's being played. Putin will be elected for life during Trump's administration, imo.

Has it ever been renegotiated by a man who is admired by his base as a ruthless, domineering, hardball businessman? The People who elected him don't care you're our neighbor, they care about winning, about not only making a good deal but also leaving you hurting because of our awesome, artful deal-making abilities. Trump once purchased draperies for a hotel. The draper delivered part of the shipment, Trump refused to pay, so the draper told Trump he was holding back delivery of the remainder. Trump had the sheriff's department raid the draper's factory and seize the fabric. Trump forced the draper into a settlement that shorted the guy almost $400,000. That's not business. That's thievery. He's a crook, worse than Nixon could have ever hoped to be.

The Russians are admitting they were in communication with the Trump camp during the election, but the Trump camp denies that. http://www.wsj.com/articles/interfax-reports-russia-had-contact-with-trump-team-during-campaign-1478791392 I think we're getting more details on how secretive and opaque this administration will be.

That's a long time to figure out what to do when that time comes. If everyone knew ahead of time, the society could all be planned in phases. It's hard to think about a million years being too short a time to invest in a civilization. It's like not buying a home because, with the way it was built, it'll probably fall down in a few thousand years.

Over 9000, bering strait, and meLothedestroyerofworlds have been suspended pending account review. We sure don't mind hearing controversial perspectives as long as they don't break the rules, and all three of these accounts have pushed those rules far past breaking. We'll be reviewing these accounts separately to see if the suspensions will become permanent. Upon staff review, the suspensions have been upgraded to full bans for all three. It's always been our policy to give people the benefit of the doubt when it comes to learning (very sorry it takes so long sometimes), but when it's obvious the learning is secondary to an agenda, we have to draw the line. It's even more important when that agenda is unsavory as racism and discrimination. No place for those in science.

In a deal that increases their market share by excluding Mexico? Why wouldn't they be? What I don't get is why Trump, who uses low-cost labor from Mexico and China in his businesses, now thinks it's bad for America? And why does he favor Canada's higher labor costs? Does he think Trudeau is going to opt for a lower Canadian rate? It looks more like Trump is trying to screw over Mexico as a country. The more he destabilizes their economy by shutting them out, the more he talks about his wall so investors pull out of deals, the more desperate the Mexicans become, the more ripe for corporate exploitation. He has a very extreme view of our neighbors to the south. I'm sure it has nothing to do with the color of their skin, nothing. I think I understand why Trump doesn't like trade deals. He doesn't want fairness and equity, he wants to screw over his opponent, crush them in the deal so they get nothing and he gets everything. That's been his defining character for as long as I've followed him.

You're right, every Trump supporter I know has had to do a massive amount of cherry-picking to make the vote palatable. They wanted the tax breaks, and are convinced he won't punish women who get abortions. They wanted him to throw Hillary in jail, and can't imagine his secret dealings with Russia during a campaign where the Russians hacked the opposition party HQ were in any way illegal. They wanted him to stand up to Wall Street (?!), and don't believe he'll insult neighboring Mexico by insisting they pay for a wall between us.

Please disprove my "Theory of the Sphere Grid Aether"
Phi for All replied to neuromaton's topic in Speculations
He asked nicely in the title, so his request was answered nicely. I'm not sure what the problem is. Surely he can't be saying, "If you'd bother looking past the misunderstandings I've based my idea on, you'll see it's quite profound"? -
I shouldn't have taken the bait, that was my bad. He got what he wanted. Frankly, I'm glad he's here, since it seems half my country thinks along the same lines. Always good to know where folks are coming from. Always good to know what the extremes are.

Good call. I think his definition creates a "heads I win, tails you lose" situation.

I see your problem. You think of energy as something a thing could be made of. Energy isn't a thing, it's a property of a thing, which is an entity of its own, the same as a dimension.

Without the right to your own body, what does freedom really mean? There MUST be a window where a woman's rights in this matter can't be taken from them, and supercede anyone else's, if you want any kind of freedom for yourself as a man.

Let's hope the owners of the china shops don't decide that several smaller customers might be preferable to one bull.

Until this kind of ignorance is given a chance to be dispelled, it will just get worse. We need better education, we need an independent media, and we need to start talking to each other in a circle instead of across fences. I don't know anything about how this administration will play out. I'm pretty sure Mexico isn't going to build us a wall, and that Vladimir Putin is not our friend. I'm also pretty sure that women deserve better treatment from men, and that People who aren't white aren't treated as well as whites. I'm very sure trying to maintain all that isn't ethical, and I want no part of it.

Arguement Against Evil - Knowing Good From Evil - Rejecting Evil.
Phi for All replied to Eli_Zsia's topic in Religion
Smart. Even if you don't think of people as being "good" or "evil", an act that one person thinks is evil may be good to another. I'm thinking along the lines of letting a forest fire burn, or aborting a child that will harm the mother. There's little nuance in good vs evil. -
How does Bill Clinton feel about Donald now? It always seemed tabloid to even ask, but is that friendship over?
-
No, you're a racist. You had an opportunity to make this about your candidate, but instead you titled the thread as an attack against a POTUS who did a damn fine job as our first black person in the position. Everything you've ever condemned him on have been things done by Republicans before him. He's less hawkish than either of the Bush's, he's right of Eisenhower. He kept taxes reasonable, even on the wealthy. I know you don't think People should have affordable healthcare, but Obama did, and I can hardly see that as evil. That just leaves the fact that he's black. So good job, David Duke. You're Obama's real legacy. We know how you really feel now. We always suspected, but weren't sure until now.

You could remain skeptical until evidence to support God's existence is found. It works for me. And I agree with Strange, title case is for headlines and... titles of things. Discussing things this way (where you capitalize every word) is like talking to a newspaper. It's a bad habit that inhibits communication, adds nothing, and creates extra work for you.
