1. 6" = Much Ado About Nothing 2. 9" = As You Like It 3. 12" = Taming of the Shrew 4. Wet = A Midsummer Night's Dream 5. Dry. = Twelfth Night 6. OO, OOO = Man and Superman How's this?
-
Could it be just our own hope that 6" = As You Like It? Would a woman say 9" or 12"?
-
So we've got: 1. 6" = As You Like It 2. 9" = Taming of the Shrew 3. 12" = The Merry Wives of Windsor 4. Wet = A Midsummer Night's Dream 5. Dry. = Twelfth Night or Love's Labours Lost (think it matters that this actually reads "Dry Period"?) 6. OO, OOO = Fanny's First Play JohnB, how we doing?
-
Maybe JohnB would be so kind as to let us know which 3 out of 4 you got right in post #2 (wink wink, nudge nudge, say-no-more).
-
Is OO, OOO Shaw's Fanny's First Play? That's sick. Dry could be Love's Labours Lost.
-
You saw it first and must be on the right track, so you've got an extra 180 on your twist, my friend!
-
If you're using the "key" I think you're using, would 12" be The Merry Wives of Windsor? If so, then you could add 3" for Much Ado About Nothing.

I hope you're not saying that, by simply being pro-choice, a person has committed a crime. You say, "I don't know what to think" but you obviously think abortion is wrong and those who don't are criminals. I haven't seen any reasoning from you so far on this, just judgement and conclusions. Care to elaborate a bit? You don't comment on any of the other posts but instead choose to watch a video to help you decide. What's up with that?

It's not a bad system but I dislike the idea of lobbying against other forms of education funding in order to bring it about. I think students would suffer all the way around, especially those who aren't college bound. I don't think businesses who hire lesser skilled personnel would be interested in paying for technical training in the same way.

I'll predict that one of the next big markets is going to be education, in the form of loans and job placement afterwards. You'll start an account with a private firm to go to college, then agree to a curriculum that certain corporate sponsors have arranged with the school. Upon graduation you'll sign on to work for a period of time with a corporation who will take on your student loan debt as part of your compensation package. If you work out and they like you, they can throw in more incentives to stay after your obligation is done. If not, they can sell your contract to another company. I think this is why Congress is going to back away from funding loan programs, and why higher education will only go to those who can afford it or are willing to sell a bit of themselves to corporations that are tired of revolving-door personnel with incorrect skill sets. I can't figure out another reason why a country like the US places so little interest in educating it's citizens.

Well, that's what spin is all about. If you're not doing something right, say that you are. If you're doing something wrong, say that you're not, then accuse your opponent of doing it. I speak spin, so here's a translation: "We are moving to fix the problems and the people of Queensland should re-elect us to let us finish the job." Moving as in *not moving*, fix as in *doing enough to be seen as doing something*, finish the job as in *do a little more after re-election, but not enough to screw up our next chance at re-election on the same issue*. What he's really saying is, "We haven't really done anything yet because if we let it get bad enough we can campaign on fixing it and tell people we're the only ones who understand how to."

Thank you, that's what I was looking for. Psychoanalysis and doomsday conspiracies are for other forums. This gives us a good political angle to launch from.

Hey, Crap on a Stick is the name of *my* short story!
-
I think we need some clarification here. pHoToN_gUrL, do you want to discuss Iran's leader in terms of Politics? Because speculation on his mental health is not very productive. And doomsday conspiracies are better discussed in Pseudoscience or Speculations.

Who believes in evolution?
Phi for All replied to bascule's topic in Evolution, Morphology and Exobiology
I think the problem is that extremists take the parts they want to take too literally. Many Christians selectively remember, "An eye for an eye" and forget, "Turn the other cheek". I'm sure the problem extends to Islam and many other religious documents. This highlights something I've always disliked, the idea of holding something "sacred". To me, spirituality should be a living, growing thing if it's to have any meaning. It should be discussed and molded, researched and explored. When something is "sacred" it is usually protected from critical review, tucked away and never questioned. I think this is why some people take the extreme literal interpretation of their "sacred" documents. Considering the potential for exponential growth in medical knowledge and cures from stem cell research, "tumble" may be too mild a word. -
Just remember to stay on the right side of the road where you belong. I hear in the UK there's less traffic going in your direction if you remember this important rule. Also important are hand signals. Italians are horrible drivers because so many of their signals require both hands. Keep it simple and other drivers will know exactly how you feel about them and you won't have to steer with your knees so much.

Yeah, pointing it out again makes you look piggish. You got your chops the first time and we didn't meat your expectations, sow what? Don't hog the limelight, it makes you look rasher than usual.

What will the hurricane season be like this year?
Phi for All replied to bascule's topic in Ecology and the Environment
As a side note, I can tell you that post-Katrina insurance money came in a bit too late for much of the reconstruction that was supposed to happen on the US Gulf Coast. Now developers are holding out to see just how bad this season is before rebuilding to any great extent. If this season doesn't have any major property damagers, look to see one of the most ambitious building booms ever in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and the Florida panhandle. -
Who believes in evolution?
Phi for All replied to bascule's topic in Evolution, Morphology and Exobiology
I don't think this is true. Unfortunately, religious fundamentalists are better organized and much of their support isn't interested in the kind of in-depth explanation science has to offer. Rallies are quicker and more entertaining than symposiums, and the food is better. There's that whole "immortal soul" angle, which scares the crap out of many. And they just plain don't like "being evolved from monkeys". Not to drag this thread into politics, but I think there is a strong pro-Christian response to wartime propoganda such as "Islamofascist" terrorism. Unlike the Catholic church which recognizes the theory of evolution, many of the Christian groups which are skilled at grass roots statewide organization believe in a literal translation of parts of the Bible, just as many Islamic extremists take parts of the Quran literally. In the US, terrorism has been most effective at producing hysterical responses, and one of those is certainly embracing the creationism offered by some church leaders. Interesting how terrorism has evolved; they no longer have to wield the actual sword to make us lose our heads. -
IMM' date=' aren't you the lead singer of that new Vegan band, [b']NoDairy Public[/b]?

Friends don't link friends to ID sites. -
Just look at any SFN member's username. They all make good rock band names (granted, some betterr than others). "I just bought the latest Insane Alien CD and it's AWESOME!" "They're pretty good but not as good as Dr. Dalek!" (My name is more like an album, ala Ted Nugent's Free for All)

I saw the ID article gcol mentions. The citations they gave were: This may help.
