I think anything that parents deny wholesale to their children is likely to become a focus of hostility. Humans don't like being denied anything. If I told you you can have anything except the privilege of watching a certain TV show, that's the show you're going to be the most curious about. And if I continue to deny it to you after repeated requests to watch it, eventually you will resent me. I also think most of TV is garbage. I grew up with TV but I am very picky about what I watch. I only watch maybe 4 hours a week so I choose carefully, tape the good stuff and fast forward during commercials. They mentioned 24 in the article and I love that show for its complexity, but only because a buddy buys the DVDs and loans them to me, so I watch them sans commercials and I don't have to wait a week between episodes.

If klanger was complete, she wouldn't be seeking knowledge here. If you were complete, you would know that reading a little Nietzsche doesn't make you a philosopher. As for forfeiting value, now that's something I sense you know about. Too bad you weren't around long enough to discuss that.

Seems pretty obvious that you and Syphill joined up as tag-team trolls with the idea that being provacative was the same as being interesting.

Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy --- OPENS FRIDAY!!!

Very smart. As J'Dona mentioned, so much of Douglas Adams wit is between the dialogue, so without a narrator repeating those words, any movie is going to fall short. No. Be comfortable. -
Hey everybody, Nevermore's in the audience! In raven language, his name means, "Man, are YOU depressing!" I'm glad he finally decided to join us at the comedy club. Nevermore has obsessive-compulsive disorder, so it's taken him seven months to decide where to sit. Good choice, right next to the gorgeous AzurePhoenix. Ooops, he accidentally touched her knee, which would normally be OK with Azure, but with his OCD he now has to do it 99 more times. Good luck explaining that, groping-boy! I've tried to tell him that his OCD helps with things like math and keeping his room tidy, but I made the mistake of telling him he has to see the glass as half full, not half empty. He spent a week filling a glass exactly half full. Uh-oh, looks like AzurePhoenix is not buying his explanation. She's going to break all the fingers on his right hand, and that'll just make him uneven. Don't hit him, sweetie, just give him a road map to fold!

I think you just squashed your best shot at getting something like an Economics sub-forum.

Yay! Jesus loves me! Who told you that? The Bible told me so! In the Bible, the Bush's are burning! Muahaha!

This is no mere single-planet snatching penguin plot, this is galactic in scope! It's obvious how a simple Earthling like you got the reputation for being harmless. Mostly harmless. -

I'm glad she doesn't get a custom user-title here. -
And while I think you handled the "turn-or-burn" trash in the right manner considering the circumstances, personal retaliation is not always the way to react. That's why God gave us monkeys. And whisks for them to wield.

We have ways of dealing with that. -
I'm reluctant to give you my address. If you can scan the pages (black & white, 100-200 dpi) I can walk you through how to attach it to one of your posts here, so everyone can see it.

It hovers above the unlearned and unrefined in much the same way a brick doesn't. Careful or we'll start reciting Vogon poetry at you. -
Inline engines leave a little more room to work in the compartment as well. I hate the fact that you can barely slip a screwdriver into most modern V-types to work on them. You practically have to yank them to change an oil filter. Here's a link that talks about GM's Votec 4200: Inline 6-cyl engine

You're OK in MY book!

Eventually, though these people are making your life hell now, you will be better off with knowledge of science. The only social skills you will need in the future is to tell your fellow schoolmates no, you don't want fries with your burger.

Did her parents opt for the closed casket or did they pony up the dough to make her pretty again?
-
I'm curious as to what her fuss was about. Eve: "Azure, no man will ever make you his wife if he thinks you're smarter than he is. It says so in Deuteronomy!" AzurePhoenix: "Ever met my monkey?"

Me, for one. You want to know what's really stupid? Joining scienceforums.net and immediately showing your belligerence. Please don't take out your bad day on fellow members. I'm asking nice, see?

Could it be that you have an ideal in mind when you first see a child and the ideal wears away as you get to know them and you realize how empty a sexual relationship would be with them? This is not unlike some forms of prejudice that disappear as soon as you actually get to know someone from the group you've been stereotyping (hint hint, everyone). What would be your reaction if a pedophile you knew expressed an interest in a relationship with your nephew?

But it's hard on the knees.

The book Julia is recommending has an example of how a handful of hyper trendy East Village clubbers wearing thrift-store Hush Puppy shoes got spotted by a Connector (one of those people who seem to know all the right people) and literally made the shoes all the rage, saving the company (Hush Puppies) from a slow financial spiral into obscurity.

Sorry, Obnoxious, I was making a joke. Was that the way you had originally intended the sentence to be? Coral and I thought it was supposed to be, "Well, the best way to prevent against rape is too inhumanly ugly." Referring to castration, of course.

http://www.dailypress.com Racism has merely switched it's targets. People who have a Middle-eastern appearance have a hard time of it. You should be able to find some interviews on the internet. You might try looking up the Fundamental Attribution Error at Wikipedia for a possible cause of racism (certainly not the only one). I can see a connection and it's an interesting phenomenon no one else in your class may pick up on.
