How Can George Bush Represent the People if.......
Phi for All replied to atinymonkey's topic in Politics
Because it's not THEIR problem, jordan. It's YOUR problem with the way they've chosen to live their lives, based on what their hearts have told them about who they love. It's not like someone who has chosen to go around setting fires as a lifestyle choice. A gay person obeying the rest of society's rules is doing you no harm, just like the lady who decides she likes cats better than people and has 20 of them that she lovingly cares for, or the 45-year old man who is shy around women and still lives with his mother, or the woman who gets together with her friends and passes out leaflets about conspiracy theories at the mall and wants to talk to you about it if you'll only stop for a few moments, or the fundamentalist Islamic who pulls out a small rug at certain times of the day even in public and kneels on it to pray. These may all be people who make you uncomfortable and whose lifestyles you would not wish for yourself, but they are all examples of people who abide by the laws and don't hurt anyone with the choices they've made, and when you allow the lawmakers to restrict these people, ask yourself what it is that YOU do that makes someone else uncomfortable. -
Saves wear and tear on your keyboard. Atomic Mutant X-man!

Time works funny in Mexico!

Oh, mea culpa! Don't know what made me believe the curl or the girl.

Everybody give a funny wave to admiral ju_00, ladies man, Camaro man, Piltdown Man! Just kidding, he follows Charles Darwin, NOT Charles Dawson! When he's not blowing the doors off all the wasabi-burners in Loo-a-vull, he can be found brushing crumbs off the remains of some prehistoric pachycephalosaurus part in his Ole Kentucky Home. It's tough to think of something funnier than being a paleontologist. Throw me a bone, will ya? This Louisville Slugger always manages to navigate his way home safely, even after slugging down a fifth of that smooth Kentucky bourbon. No one knows how a guy in his 20's got to be an admiral, but we suspect his IROC Z might have ended up in the Ohio River one night after too much "studying" at Ray's Blues Bar. Good luck with the dinosaurs, admiral, you're going to need to dig up plenty of cash to pay off those student loans!

New rule, Admiral. When I beat you on the draw like that, you have to post a joke in the Official Jokes Section, otherwise I might have to have Gir do a stand-up routine on you!

Check your User Control Panel, you can do that here at SFN too. Edit Options, Default Thread Subscription Mode, Instant Notification.

There once was a guy J'Dona by name and fame with hair in his eye. Aced when A-leveled his chemistry mastery (hair not disheveled).

Actually, Sir Humphry Davy, the Brit who discovered it, originally named it alumium, then aluminum and changed it later, according to this.

Definitely my least favorite aspect of the show. Although most of the "frat-boy" types who live in filth probably deserve it, I dislike it when any show uses the put-down technique to make viewers feel superior to the subject of the show. I pay no attention to that and watch QE for the fashion, cuisine, grooming and design advice, areas where I know I am deficient. Back on thread, there are many things that I'm anti about, but I know the difference between being anti-something for me personally and trying to make-believe I know best for everyone else, too. When we start trying to foist our personal likes and dislikes onto others we commit an injustice. When we try to change our country's Constitution to force others into our beliefs, we commit a national crime of the highest order.

Haikus are like jokes: If I have to explain them they are not funny. Take philosophy. Then all the names will make sense. Puns will become clear.

Descartes before horse? Kant Spinoza Locke your brain? Eat Plato Bacon! You must be careful when you play philosopher. Is this problem or making model planes? The glue is so dangerous! Open a window!
-
Brain/mind are same thing, consciousness is different. You ARE what you think.

Please pass it along to newbie. I'm not sure why budullewraagh wanted YOU to have it. If he hasn't figured out by now where you stand on forum trolling, he needs to reread a LOT. Reading newbie's posts is like watching The O'Reilly Factor. What he can't understand he ignores, what he disagrees with he doesn't listen to, and what he believes in he believes in sacredly, sheltering those beliefs from any further evaluation, inspection or criticism. This is the greatest mistake scientific reasoning can make. Nothing is ever exactly the way you want it to be, no matter how well-informed you believe yourself to be. Supporting troops who are in the middle of horrific conflict while not supporting the governmental and corporate decisions that put them there are a big part of Michael Moore's message, IMO. I deplore the kind of debate tactics that allow trollers to impugn our patriotism by saying we don't support the soldiers if we don't support the war they are fighting. John Kerry is facing a similar attack right now on his Vietnam stance. In too many people's minds the two seem inseperable, but we need to remember that government is a dangerous servant and a horrible master when it declares war on fellow humans. Iraq is not our enemy, Afghanistan is not our enemy. Terrorism is, and we make it stronger with unthinking paranoia.

You ROCK, Jesse! A in Chem, now we know what your middle initial stands for! Enjoy yourself responsibly. Barring that, don't call us from jail, or gaol, or whatever it is the bobbies put you Chemisty-acing Brits into when you celebrate over the line.

Two rednecks were sitting in a bar when one asked his friend if he had heard of the new sex position called 'Rodeo'. His friend said, "No, what is it?" "Well, you mount your wife from the back, reach around her and cup her breasts with both hands and say, 'Boy, these are almost as nice as your sister's'. Then you try to hang on for eight seconds."

Emily Sue passed away and Joe Bob, her redneck husband called 911. The 911 operator told Bubba that she would send someone out right away. "Where do you live?" asked the operator. Joe Bob replied, "At the end of Eucalyptus Drive." The operator asked, "Can you spell that for me?" There was a long pause and finally Joe Bob said, "How 'bout if I drag her over to Oak Street and you pick her up there?"

So "Hour has one, duh" would be a huge mistake then. Pot calls kettle black.

Our, hour or Oww-er, It does make a difference. Diff-rence? Dif-fer-ence?

Hooray! The Official SFN Jokes Section now has more people viewing it than the Guns thread in Politics. Over 5000 of you think it's better to laugh than to kill. Good choice! You know what's funny? Not guns! I'm so glad you take the time to enjoy a chuckle while you reload. Just remember this: You don't need to kill a person with a gun. If you tell them a great joke they'll be doubled over, helpless with laughter, and you can just run away or club them to death with your shoe or something. We've beat the Guns thread in Views, but we're still behind in Posts. If you hear a great joke, write it down, or if you can't write, force someone else at gunpoint to write it down so you can post it here. We're counting on you to keep this thread alive and laughing. Jokes don't kill people. Except for that guy who choked on a soda at a George Carlin concert. And the woman who lost her spleen in a pun-induced explosion. Jokes don't kill very many people.

I am a straight guy who cares very little for things like dress sense. Since I'm buying clothes anyway, why not take the advice of those who are considered knowledgeable? I love QE because they point out things I do I've never really thought about that I could do better. Women often won't tell you these things. They just shake their heads, pass judgement and move on. I for one appreciate the point of view QE gives me. It doesn't scare me and a lot of their advice is really insightful.

And the Medal of Freedom goes to... Thales! Bravo! You've summed up my feelings very nicely. Since we can't get objective media here in the US, we must rely on those of you who aren't as affected to give us the broader, cleaner view.

The former is illegal and the latter is legal anyway if the partners are marriageable under current laws. But you were talking about the significance of the institution being diminished by allowing non-traditional arrangements. Do you believe that marriage as an institution is diminshed by the divorce rate and how easy it is to dissolve a marriage? I may not like how easy it has become to break solemn vows, but it does NOT diminish MY marriage one iota. My feelings, my vow and my relationship to my wife are not dependent on others for their validity.
