Um no. We didn't violate his rights. We turned him over to the Americans as per existing extradition treaties. If the Americans violated his rights, they should give him 10 Mill and apologize. I can just imagine how much we'll have to pay Meng Wanzhou of Huawei, for trying to extradite her to the US as treaty demands.

Apparently we have Canadian ( and American ) ISIS war brides wanting to be repatriated. I say let them come back, have a trial, and jail them for any crimes. Unless our Prime Minister decides to apologize to them, and give them millions of dollars, like he did with O Khadr.

Yeah, you wouldn't believe how forgetful I'm becoming. Damn this old age.

By its very definition, polarization implies two poles. And those 'poles' of American politics are getting further and further apart. The center, midway point, between the two poles, has been wondering further to the right pole in the last 20odd yrs, with the rise of groups like the Tea Party movement. And it took a big leap to the right with the election of D Trump !

I found it funny. ( even after 23 yrs ) I thought we had a policy that we don't get rid of posts. Even if the poster asks for the removal. Does it not give a 'bad' appearance ? ( like something is being hidden ) Why not just close it ? ( just my opinion, for what its worth )

And the reason being ?

When I logged on last night, there was a thread, by RenaissanceChemist I believe, in which he posted a cartoon, attributed to Swansont circa 1985, which seemed to advocate violence. I replied to the OP, as did a couple of other members. This morning, that thread is nowhere to be found, and individual posts in our profile pertaining to that thread are also gone. Is there an explanation other than early onset senility ( on my part ), or the fact that it was late and I was possibly asleep and dreaming, for this disappearing act ?

Its almost time to have a refreshing beer and celebrate... It's Mueller time !

Were American people aware of the horrors that Nazi Germany would inflict on Europe during the next 4 yrs ? At the time they probably saw the Nazis as a counter to the spread of Communism from Russia into Europe. ( hindsight is always 20/20 )

You have no idea what would happen yet you make conjectures ? You realize that theory says elementary particles are surrounded by a 'halo' of virtual particles ? So why would a quantum fluctuation giving rise to virtual particles have any 'other-than-normal' effect ?

As Strange mentioned the density of radiation has decreased as the universe has expanded. Yet expansion is accelerating... Your 'cause' doesn't seem to fit the effect.

Does this phenomenon happen in other countries with a polarized political system ? ( although I can't think of any as polarized as the US currently is ) Is it the proclivity of ( some ) Americans to resort to violence to solve their issues ? Is it the fact that America has a free press which is free to choose political sides and ratchet up the polarization ? Don't get me wrong, even us 'nice' Canadians have had threats against political leaders, but the US is getting downright ridiculous.

Sorry, I thought I had in the first part of my original response.

It very well may have been a poor choice of words. But again, you have simply asserted it and not given your reasons for thinking so. Please explain how and why the two are different. ( If I'm ignorant, should you not educate me ? ) ( and Napoleon is long dead, I don't think he'd be offended by my ignorance )

You can't just state it. I'm here for discussion, so please elaborate.

Most nutritious natural food is what?
MigL replied to RenaissanceChemist's topic in Anatomy, Physiology and Neuroscience
Can't think of a single one that wouldn't lead to health issues. But I would think it depends on your definition of 'living'. You could be in a coma indefinitely on just IV, but I don't think that counts. -
You are absolutely right; you cannot debunk the genetics. And I don't think you'll get any arguments against the existence of those genetics. What about when the difference is psychological ? Say a woman who is trapped in a man's body ? They have the genetic make-up of a male, but mentally, they see themselves as female. And if you tell your doctor they give you a sex change ( not that readily ); what are you then, if not transgendered ? But, if you tell your doctor you think you're Napoleon, they put you in a padded cell. Now, I'm a firm believer that whatever makes you happy and doesn't affect me, is your business and perfectly fine. But why are the two mental delusions treated differently ? ( nothing would make me happier than having a Napoleonic Empire in Europe and marching on Russia )

The 'strong' nuclear force that binds neutrons and protons inside the nucleus is actually a 'spill-over' effect of the color force that binds quarks into neutrons/protons. Similarly, interatomic and intermolecular forces are a 'spill-over' effect of the EM force that binds electrons to the nucleus' protons. We have differing names for these forces, but they are still Elecromagnetic. It is simply an effect of how the charges are distributed.

There is no 'explosion' or 'blast' involved. ( unless there is a third, non-BH member, involved in the merger, to cause EMR ) Just a seamless transition from mass-energy to momentum and gravitational radiation.

Also Bohr is much easier to handle mathematically. You do need a good base in Calculus to handle QM.

You can put a donkey in a box ( stall ), thereby fixing its position and momentum. If you try that with an electron, sometimes you find it outside the box. If the box is too small, fixing its position too tightly, the electron can have enough momentum ( and energy ) to overcome the potential 'wall' of the box. This is experimentally verified, and commonly known as tunneling. The HUP can be derived mathematically; i.e. it is completely unrelated to the methods used for measurements.

A theory of everything. The truth about creation.
MigL replied to graybear13's topic in Speculations
I have seen threads with much more plausible conjectures get dismissed and closed down in just a few posts. Yet this nonsense about atmospheric phenomena being related to anti-gravity and elementary particles is ongoing, and in its second page. Must be no gravity or elementary particles in the vacuum of space, then. This isn't PEE, it's CRAP ! -
I know what you mean, Swansont. When I'm at work, I spend most of the day looking at the clock too. ( just kidding; in case anyone from Solvay head office is reading this )

'Man of the Year' is simply a reflection of who was the most 'influential' person of that year, DrP. Not who was the nicest, or most popular person. Interesting read about Italian politics/government, CharonY. Then again what should one expect from a country whose voters are so gullible, they have elected and defeated almost one government per year since 1946. You thought D Trump was good ( in a bad way ), but when it comes to subverting the will of the people and taking advantage of them, nobody does it better than Italians, and they've proved it several times. The first was the Roman Catholic Church, then came the Mafia, and, during the last 50odd years, Italian Government.

You can certainly study it. Don't know what kind of accreditation you'll receive.
