  1. And that analogy fails because you can never collapse the coin's superposition. There is no such thing as a single sided coin ( Mobius coin ?? ).
  2. Exactly. A cat, composed of a billion, billion, billion particles cannot remain in superposition unless there are no interactions of any of those particles. Any macroscopic object, or animal, has to have a collapsed wave function. Anything else is 'absurd'.

The more advanced missiles, such as the MBDA Meteor, a beyond visual range air to air missile with a range of 100km, and used by the customer nations of the Eurofighter Typhoon, Dassault Rafale, SAAB Gripen and F-35 of the Italian Air Force/Navy ( demonstrably more advanced than the Raytheon AMRAAM ), uses a solid propellant inside of a ramjet duct. When the solid propellant used for acceleration is used up, the ramjet kicks in for sustaining and terminal maneuvering. Older designs lacked this ability and could be defeated by hard maneuvering during the terminal approach to the target.
  4. Women with guns... What a turn on. ( am I being shallow again ? )

  6. I'm sure iNow treats his sister differently than he does his brother. ( does he have any, I don't know, but I do ) I'm also sure he loves them both equally. But that's not really what's being discussed here. He doesn't want EITHER to be drafted. Can we get back on topic before you guys post something you'll regret ?
  7. Only scalar fields are single valued at any point. Vector fields have a magnitude AND direction at any given point ( two valued ) Tensor fields can have as many values as needed at any given point.
  8. And you are sending the message that the use of chemical warfare is acceptable. Assad will use them again at the next available opportunity, if not against his own people, against neighbors. But you might be right, targeting the military installations that launched the gas is probably ineffective. When did M Gaddafi quiet down ? When R Reagan targeted HIM with bombing strikes. Just saying.
  9. Adding to Mordred's excellent description ( welcome back )... It is because of the way we define a particle, that quantization of a field, by necessity, gives rise to said particles. A field which cannot be quantized ( gravity ??? ) may not give rise to an 'excitation', and may have no mediator boson. ( although everyone thinks it is just a stubborn field, that eventually will be quantized )
  10. Any interaction is an 'observation', and causes wave function collapse. And while this makes sense for a particle, or even a small group of particles like a molecule, it becomes absurd for a macroscopic object like a cat. Don't take the interpretation too seriously
  11. He has informed the Russians that chemical weapon usage by Assad's forces, is indefensible, and there will be retaliation. And, just like last time, giving the Russians an opportunity to leave the military installations that fired the Sarin gas. Admittedly he has done it as a teenager would; using social media. But what would you expect, this is D Trump, after all. Would you rather have him fire cruise missiles, hit some Russian assets and people, and escalate the situation with Russia beyond control ? Edit: Assad didn't win the civil war. The Russians won it for him.
  12. The fact that women don't start wars ( Helen of Troy excluded ) is no reason for them to not be drafted ( if it ever came back ). Most young men ( Gavrilo Princep excluded ) don't start wars either. Draft only 50-60 yr old men. Oh, wait, that's me !
  13. Criticizing is easy. What would you say ? And would you back it up ? Just asking.
  14. Low concentration organics are usually mild irritants. See an eye doctor. He may prescribe lubricating eye drops if the irritation is still present. This could have been a concentrated acid or a base. Make a habit of wearing goggles that seal around your eyes, and if not working in a fume hood, wear a face-shield also
  15. Again, not once did I mention 'race'. My response was to Koti who mentioned that there are no major physiological differences between humans. I believe he said they are due to social factors not biological ones. I wanted to point out that there are biological differences. Although not necessarily aligned with the classical definition of "race'.. And that it may be beneficial to understand these differences.
  16. I'm just suggesting that we shouldn't be afraid to discuss our physiological differences as well as our similarities. And if I'm identified as part of a group that is prone to certain conditions, I would want to be informed, and certainly wouldn't be offended.
  17. I agree CharonY, The classification is not as simple as skin coloring. In the example I used, it is actually very dark irises, which I have, but I'm not dark skinned. And while I don't doubt that there are blue eyed, black folks, most have very dark irises, and it would be detrimental not to inform them that they are at higher risk of Glaucoma, and should have their pressures checked because of the group they fall in. Political correctness is no reason to lose your eyesight. And it is refreshing to be able to have this type of conversation without the usual accusations of bigotry and intolerance. ( notice I did not say 'racism' ; if there is only one race, that term doesn't make sense )
  18. And we do divide groups according to age. And doctors don't recommend having kids after a certain age because of the risks you mention. Age is not a social construct. Pigmentation is a difference of certain groups, at least in their eye color. And the predominance of very dark irises, with excessive pigmentation, such as I have, makes my group more prone to PDS Glaucoma. Notice I've always said groups, not races. Refusing to discuss such differences because historically ( and presently ) some jackasses use these differences to justify racism and atrocities like genocides, or pretending these differences don't exist, is shortsighted and substitutes one problem for another.
  19. There are certainly physiological differences between various groups of people. One I am very familiar with is the incidence of Glaucoma among black people is 3 times higher than for other groups. this is mainly due to Pigment Dispersion Syndrome where the excess pigment from a dark iris plugs up the drainage through the trabecular meshwork, and pressures in the frontal eye rise. This is also the problem I have. Ignoring these differences does no-one any good. So maybe there are valid reasons for sub-classifications, to better understand the problems of certain groups. And the differences should certainly be open for discussion. But the classifications were never the problem anyway. What certain unscrupulous people and ignorant people did or assumed about these classifications was/is the problem. They are in no way a justification for superiority or inferiority of any group.
  20. I'm gonna have to disagree, Studiot. Special Relativity involves NO curvature. It is widely accepted that Poincare was at most 5 yrs away from putting it all together and publishing his own Special Relativity. He already had all the 'pieces' when Einstein beat him to it. General Relativity, on the other hand, was a leap which might not have happened for a hundred yrs. The 'pieces' were already there for almost a hundred years, since the time of Gauss , Boliay and Riemann, but the common belief was that Euclidian geometry governed the universe. Einstein's leap in GR was the realization that a curved space-time geometry is a good description of gravity. And as you said, the math was no easy task; even with Grossman's help, it took him years to get it right
  21. Better get your orders from Amazon now. He has a spat going with them also which could lead to higher shipping prices. Is there anyone he gets along with ?
  22. I've been called God a few times... " Oh God, please don't stop" by women, while having sex.
  23. There are no advantages, nor any disadvantages. The only thing that matters to a long-lasting relationship is that you get along. ( I guess I'm really hard to get along with; longest relationship was three yrs )

Interesting Koti. We have an electrical room in one of our buildings with a Halon fire suppression system. We ( JHSC ) had it taken off-line because of asphyxiation risks.
