  1. Might be in focus if you shrink it down to about 1/10th of its size ... But, with my eyesight, it looks fine to me.
  2. I had never heard of triangular co-ordinates. They are not defined by an axis, nor angle, and would seem to be relational to other objects rather than to a frame. Would like to hear @studiot's take on this ...
  3. I'm not trying to decide anything for anyone, so I don't see where your question come from.( and syop yelling; loud does not win arguments or make right ) If you would take the time to read, instead of jumping in with your chip on your shoulder, you would note that all my posts have been about Joigus stating that XX and XY chromosones define male and female , and INow correcting him with the fact that there are various other chromosonal combinations possible, such as XXX, XXY, XYY, etc. I then, always ready to stir the pot, asked why we try to cure/prevent genetic aberrations like dwarfism, giantism, autism, etc., but we don't try to cure/prevent the XX and XY chromosonal aberrations that INow mentioned to Joigus ? And an explanation that I'm still waiting for. So what exactly, does your loud question have to do with the discussion so far ???? This is now the third time I've recounted the trajectory of this thread and re-explained my query. I know you don't have reading comprehension issues, so I'm led to believe that you simply choose to ignore the points being made, and the questions asked, and simply default to your continuing agenda of trying to paint me as a fascist trying to decide for others what they should be.
  4. If I get to decide what ? I will recap the previous discussion; maybe you missed it. My 'question' was for clarification of something INow replied to Joigus. Essentially that there are genetic conditions other than the typical XX and XY chromosonal pairings, and therefore no clear definition of male or female. I posted that for other genetic conditions like dwarfism ( or autism, as per the other thread ), even though there is no ill effect on the individual or those around him/her, there is active research going on to 'cure' such conditions. I wondered why there is no research going on for the treatment of XX/XY chromosonal aberrations, and all I got in response was an appeal to sympathy for those so afflicted. But I don't know, maybe there is research to find a cure, for those who aren't strictly genetic males or females, or maybe discussion of the subject is frowned upon. I still await a proper explanation. Oh, and your line, which I quoted above, makes me sound like the 'fascist' INow accused me of being ( in jest, of course ), when all I'm asking for is clarification.
  5. That was the first thing that came to my mind also. He's most likely a self-centered ass; nothing to do with slight autism.
  6. Oh, goody. A contest to see who can get the last word in ... ( and I would like to insist that this is NOT trolling )

    Today I Learned

Some say you can notice this effect upon pouring liquid nitrogen into your cupped hand. I've never been brave enough to try it. Would that be strictly German pricy SUVs ?
  8. You're not J Lennon, either.
  9. And dwarfs used to get tossed ... for sport. Not disagreeing with your assessment; simply pointing out that we treat other groups differently.
  10. My post was referring to INow's post about aberrations to the XX and XY chromosonal pairings. I pointed out that there are many other genetic conditions for which we seek cures. For example, there are genetic conditions that result in deformities, or altered growth rates or limits, and these conditions can often make life unbearable for these individuals, even though there is no physical 'harm' to them, or those around them. So we seek a cure, or treatment, for such conditions. Does that sound similar to any other groups, String Junky ? Is 'dwarfism' a sickness ? Almost all 'short' people can lead healthy, normal, lives, yet society tends to look down on them ( really, no pun intended ). Are you going to tell me there is no active research into curing that genetic condition. My 'identities are apparent to the outside world. My Birth Certificate says I was Born in Italy. My Passport and citizenship papers say I'm Canadian. And anyone can note the absence of a ring on my finger which indicates I'm not an engineer. ( Engineers use those fancy equations for flows, stresses, etc. that we Physicists derive from first principles 😁 ) Sometimes, to the outside world, I appear to be an asshole; and sometimes I definitely am. But I'm still looking for an explanation.
  11. This will probably get me in trouble ( with the usual suspects ), but I would add to Joigus' point ... And there are plenty more genetic conditions and 'abnormalities', which we apparently spend millions of dollars researching ways to cure. Why do some 'abnormalities' require concentrated efforts to find cures or treatments, but, just mentioning 'cure/treatment' for others gets you labelled a '****phobe', or worse ? Please explain.
  12. What I make is classified as a WMD by the American Government. Phosphine, liquified at 700 psi, tends to blow-up quite nicely on escape to atmosphere ) I seem to recall the FBI coming up to tour/investigate our facility.
  13. I don't do 'tweets' nor do I care what others 'tweet' about in social media. ( forums is as far as I go ) And my opinion of Joe Rogan is that he should have stuck to announcing MMA fights.
  14. I just noticed a mistake in my post which might confuse some, in Phi's quote. Where it says should say my apologies.
  15. Virtual particles are properties of a quantum field, below the threshold of action that would render them real. The only way to claim virtual particles are a property of space, or space-time, is if you consider space-time a quantum field. GR considers the geometry of space-time a field, but one that is purely classical in nature. There is, currently, no description of space-time, and its associated vacuum energy, as a quantum field. LQG might strive to do that; I'm not sure SString theory does.
  16. What oother view would you expect me to take ? We are discussing humans., are we not ? I've been called worse. 🙂 INow recently called me a fascist.

    Shoah

While I agree with his first post on the matter, once he shifted his focus to Israel, I have to again disagree I don't know why the focus of the thread shifted to Israeli actions ( most of this thread was posted shortly after my eye operation ), but the above seems an irresponsible statement. Russia occupied the Ukraine for over 50 years, under the guise of the USSR, took all of their produce to sell and finance their 5 year modernization plans, and in the process, starved 8 million Ukrainians to death. ( yes, 8 million; more than the Jews that died in the Holocaust ) Three years ago, Russia again invaded the Ukraine, branding them Nazis, and currently has 300000 troops in Ukrainian land which they have seized by force and untold missile attacks. ( and I won't even mention China and its oppression of some of their people, and people of lands they've occupied, like Tibet ) Yet, Mistermack, who has openly defended Russia's actions in the Ukraine on this forum in the past, chooses to call out Israel as the worst offender ? Methinks there is a bit of anti-Semitism at play here. ( it's a good thing I don't give demerits )
  18. I could very well be a descendant of B Mussolini. 😁
  19. I will try to explain to the best of my abilities ( and without giving demerit points ), even though I sometimes find the situation ridiculous myself. Words are defined by context. In reproductive Biology there are only two sexes, because an idealized male of the species is needed to reproduce with the idealized female of the species. However, in modern Fashion, it is difficult to define male clothing and female clothing, as there is a huge amount of overlap These are extreme examples, so before Phi calls them 'flippant, and non-serious', I should explain further. I'm of Southern European discent, and in the summer my skin is darker than a couple of black individuals that I know. Yet, if I 'perm' my hair into tight curls, and 'identify' as black, I cannot use the 'N' word, as that usage is now based on a shared cultural experience. If their group uses the term,it brings them together, if others use it, it offends. And I understand that, and am fine with it. When it comes to the term 'woman', however, that term is still in general usage, and some people feel free to include themselves in the group denoted by that term. And I can sort of understand that also. Some feminists, however, and people like J K Rawling, are wondering why women don't deserve to 'own' their shared cultural experience as they have a much longer history of oppression all over the world. And I can understand that too. The confusing part, for me, is that we choose to avoid offending people who want to identify as 'women' by not letting the group own their shared cultural history, and 'owning' the term, and continuing to be oppressed. Doesn't seem very enlightened to me, and very possibly needs more discussion, not less. But what do I know, I usually get neg reps also when discussing similar subjects, as if discussion is not needed ( or wanted ).
  20. But we need armed militias to prevent the Government from 'fixing' the outcome of the Super Bowl ... It's a Constitutional right.
  21. I didn't notice a question in the OP ... And who the f**k builds looms ? ( are you now in Pennsylvania, Dim 😄 )
  22. That is commendable, and it is the law, here in Canada/ Unfortunately, some areas of the US are still the 'wild west' when it comes to carrying and storing firearms. Here in Canada, most of the legal guns on the street come from break-ins and theft from legal gun collectors and hobbyists. Actually, a lot are stolen in the US, and smuggled into Canada. Most are handguns. No gang member will steal a hunting shotgun; it cannot be concealed. ( and you can't hold them sideways, like you can handguns, for that extra 'wow' facto )
  23. Single place or single time makes no difference to Heisenberg. Singular place means infinitely indeterminate momentum, and singular time means infinitely indeterminate energy. Either way, that electron cannot be confined. Hawking radiation is generated just outside the event horizon, and Heisenberg Uncertainty applies everywhere, as it is a fundamental aspect of nature.
  24. I am not understanding these 'ruptures' of space-time you speak of. And how they arise from conditions more extreme ( ? ) than those that lead to a Black Hole. You cannot curve space-time any more than a Black Hole does. And Black Holes certainly don't cause 'ruptures' in space-time or negative time dilation. ( too much Star Trek or Marvel multiverse madness ? ) I have a simple argument against the existence of central singularities in Black Holes. Consider an electron swallowed by a BH. It crosses the EV and reaches the 'singularity'. At this point its position is exact; it is a point. That means that, according to Heisenberg, its momentum ( and speed ) could be any value up to infinite. That means the electron could escape the BH. Since this same argument can be applied to every other particle swallowed by the BH, every particle could then escape, and there would be no BH And since we have photographic evidence that BHs exist, the above inconsistency means that singular points, in a BH, cannot be possible.
  25. OMG ! It's worse than Vietnam ... I'm starting to have flashbacks of 'typing' Hollerith punch cards, to solve the energy levels of the Helium atom, circa 1978-79.
