Is this an attempt at a perpetuum mobile? Some of your other videos seem to suggest it's a hobby of yours.

Numberphile posted a very informative video on just this. After spending at least 3 seconds looking through the thread, I don't think it's been posted yet. At least not in this thread.

Clap, clap, clap, why do we clap?
pwagen replied to CaptainPanic's topic in Psychiatry and Psychology
I wonder if it isn't as simple as applauds being so simple. It's easy to perform and very easy to measure the reaction (louder, more intensive means "more" reaction). If booing existed back in the good old days, the sound of clapping would have been easy to differentiate from the negativity of a roaring boo. Just my two, quick cents. -
If it was, religions would change and adapt with new scientific findings. It doesn't, so no.

Can you give any examples of any crop circles with these attributes? As far as I can tell, there have been no reports of iron deposits being found, nor the stems having been "blown out". I'm also not sure how measurable amounts of EM radiation would be emitted from crop. While considered as weapons by a few countries, I doubt we're at the point where we're actually able to use them as such. Also, why are they target practicing in crop fields, making complex patterns which will undoubtedly be found by civilians, rather than shooting at locations like the alleged Area 51? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maser http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Masers_in_science_fiction

The thing with evolution though, is how ridiculously massive the evidence for it is. While you're right that theories are sometimes abandoned due to new evidence etc, this won't happen with evolution. At best (worst?) our understanding of it will change minuscule details in it, but it's not going to change in any major way. Evolution happening is a fact. At the same time though, the process of evolution via natural selection is often misunderstood. Ironically, how it works is often misunderstood by its loudest proponents. But regardless of all that, you're definitely doing the right thing in looking it up and trying to get a better understanding, instead of simply dismissing what Moontanman said.

Something bad happened to me
pwagen replied to MohitM's topic in Anatomy, Physiology and Neuroscience
Well, to begin with, you don't have "EMF related issues". At least not from getting too close to a laptop monitor. Often working with the laptop in your lap has been said to decrease sperm count. But getting too close to it for a brief time? Not going to happen. So that's a relief. You do appear quite young. Have you passed puberty? It's very normal to be an emotional wreck due to hormones and whatnot. The attraction to the whatever gender usually takes your fancy might disappear for a while, then could come back. Or it might come back in a different form. That's all normal. Getting hit in the head, however, is not recommended, regardless of pubertal status. If you're worried it might have inflicted damage, and haven't seen a doctor for it, do so. It's always better to be safe than sorry, and they will definitely be able to diagnose any head injuries better than any online forum could, be it EMF or others. -

If you're worried about brain damage, especially if you "took a hit" to the head previous to this, go see a doctor. That's infinitely better than asking for medical advice on an internet forum. -
Indoors or outdoors? The simplest might be to just attach it to the floor somehow. But that might not be pretty on something like a wooden floor. You could also try and anchor it above the stairs. If it's a outdoor basement with a lawn in front of it, you could attach it to something sharp that you can just chuck down into mother Earth, so the ramp hangs from that. Edit: also, might I suggest speed bumps on the ramp? Those would help holding the scooter back when going down, to prevent it from dropping ALL by itself.

Big Bang and changing laws of physics
pwagen replied to SplitInfinity's topic in Astronomy and Cosmology
No, because matter isn't actually moving due to the expansion of the universe. They're still in the exact same place as they would be without expansion, but more space is created in between. -
No, a single atom and a cloud of atoms behave very differently. Gravity, for example, would have an effect on the cloud, but virtually none on the single atom, while the strong force would be undetectable in the cloud, but have a huge effect inside the atom.
-
Then why is gravity increased near heavy objects, if objects produce pressure? Shouldn't I be thrown off?
-
Except for the times when the hydrogen pulls together to form a cloud due to gravity.
-
I'd say it depends. Some people say they believe in this or that, but can't specify anything at all when asked about it. Then there are the people who know exactly what they believe, and actually believe in it, for real. And then there's a whole range of people in between. There's no one mindset of a believer, everyone treats their beliefs and faiths differently.

Big Bang and changing laws of physics
pwagen replied to SplitInfinity's topic in Astronomy and Cosmology
You're not talking about the inflation period, are you? -
So the only way to properly see this phenomena is by blurring your vision?
-
Well, lots of pictures with lens flares, but what is the actual theory you're proposing?

That's a shame then. Typically, the more complext (big) a program is, the less chance of it actually working in Wine. Feel free to give React OS a chance though, at least until you can find the CD!
-
I like your attitude. It's sure to get you a lot of help with this. However, this is "homework help", not "we'll do your homework for you". Show us that you've actually attempted to solve any of these and not just want the answers served on a platter.

Wine is pretty awesome at emulating a Windows environment, but it doesn't work for every program. Don't be surprised if it doesn't work. Best thing would, of course, be to find that Windows CD. If Wine doesn't work, and you can't find the CD, maybe give this a go: http://www.reactos.org/ It's a free OS, designed to mimic the Windows architecture, which means you can run Windows programs on it. I've never tried it, but apparently it should work all right.
