  1. actually, i personally dont think buckminsterfullerene can be too violent when mixed with anythingthing (at stp) h2o2 is a good fuel but, as yt said, the energy required to produce it is greater than the energy one can obtain from it.
  2. you can get 3% H2O2 in pharmacies and 40-45% in glowsticks and (supposedly) salons. of course, the H2O2 in glowsticks is mixed with a bunch of other chemicals so it won't be pure but hey it is 40-45%. to concentrate it, freeze it. the H2O freezes at 0 celcius while the H2O2 freezes at -11 celcius. be careful, though, because a mixture above 70% explodes on contact with anything organic or metallic. that means dust will make it explode.
  3. apparently you didn't read my post. you repeated a great deal of your last post in this post. try again.
  4. another somewhat good fuel is hydrogen peroxide. upon decomposition it yields water vapor and oxygen gas so it's great for the enviornment.
  5. come now, you certainly understand what i was saying. no, i took a thought and replied to it. ah, but not effectively. i'll take this quote from the article: "Meanwhile, on the Iraqi government’s own Web site, the number of under-5 deaths from all causes for the month of September was listed as 2,932." nearing 3000 children under age 5. you just tell me that there weren't 1500 children above or equal to age 5 killed. also, let us remember that you stated that you highly doubted casualties were in the thousands. hmm, there's 2,932 kids younger than 5 who were killed by sanctions in one month alone. apparently we have different views of this system. you see, when i have things to say to specific people, i use private messaging. sure will. you see, the casualties in vietnam put the casualties in iraq into perspective. you said that you doubted thousands of innocent iraqis were killed. i proved that millions were killed but also wanted to post other figures that made my figures seem more accurate. you see, if one performs an experiment and obtains results, those results are not considered as accurate as the average from a series of experiments. the same thing works here; if it is true that millions of innocents were killed in vietnam, it is easier to realize that millions of innocents were killed in iraq.
  6. hmm, sounds like another country we all know and love... sad thing is that the united states supported iraq with chemical weapons during that time. hmm, sounds like anotehr country we all know and love... yeah but that doens't negate the atrocities that were committed. sources: http://www.reason.com/0203/fe.mw.the.shtml http://www.moreorless.au.com/killers/hussein.htm http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/fr/555734/posts http://www.fair.org/extra/0111/iraq.html http://www.counterpunch.org/mckinney1008.html your post was to everybody. i am somebody. it's not off-topic but apparently you don't realize the connections i made.
  7. under saddam hussein, 5,000 kurds were killed in 1995. that is the only mass killing he has ever committed. sure, he killed more people, but no more than 30,000 people i would estimate. as for the afghan government, i cannot think of a mass killing they have participated in. they probably killed a few people, but not many. meanwhile, the united states and britain are responsible for the 500,000 children alone (millions if you count adults) who were killed by economic sanctions and coalition bombings between the two gulf wars (source: the united nations). also, in the second gulf war, after the initial bombings of baghdad, 35,000 people were found dead. this count was done only a few days after and so countless buried under the rubble were not counted. also, let us not forget that 4 million vietnamese were killed during vietnam. the united states lost 58,000 soldiers to satisfy mccarthy's blood lust. the tradeoff is 69 vietnamese per american killed. the united states wasn't that poorly outnumbered. i would say that the united states killed millions of innocents in vietnam and millions in iraq. you know what? i say millions. you cannot justify murder by calling yourself less of a murderer than others.
  8. there is force that could change them; they are fixed because a certain number of protons are holding them in. of course, i suppose that alpha and beta particles could change the radii of atoms for a very short amount of time but that's just about it.
  9. personally i prefer not thinking of ionic radii. the hybrid orbital created by the two atoms tends to minimize that accuracy of measuring an ionic radius.
  10. the other day blike and i noticed that we were the only people on the chat. he suggested that we set up a chat time every so often. i agreed. what do the lot of you think?
  11. :\ age of revolutions? civil rights movements?
  12. i have some other good methods of sodium production: Na2CO3 can be reduced with charcoal or coke, finely powdered iron, sulfur, aluminum or magnesium. Al, Mg, Ca, CaH2, CaSi or CaC reduce NaCl to Na at high temperatures. Finely powdered iron, ferrosilicon, calcium carbide or coke yield sodium from the fused hydroxide. the silicate, sulfide, sulfate and cyanide can also be reduced to sodium at high temperatures. Na2CO3+2C -> 2CO+Na2O CO2+C -> 2CO Na2O+C -> 2Na+CO delta h=-231kcal/mole refer to: http://www.sciencemadness.org/library/sodium-production.pdf
  13. it wouldn't work; molten sodium would fly out of the mixture. also, the solvent would boil
  14. i would say that humans are becoming more fragile people. it is known that exposure to bacteria and virii make people much more resistent too illness.
  15. well, i think i cleared that up
  16. ay, if you look throughout history conservatism has never prevailed over progressive movements.
  17. the delta [math]HF_2_5[/math] a C in a CH3 and the C in a CH2 is 88. we have 2 of those bonds in propane. for CH-H it is 106. for CH2-H it is 113 + or - 1. propane is C3H8. 88*2+(2*106)+(6*113)=1066 of course, it takes energy to form the bonds in our new H2O and CO2. [math]HF_2_5[/math] of OC=O is 127.2 + or - 0.1 for HO-H it is 119.2 + or - 0.2 (6*127.2)+(8*119.2)=1716.8 looks endothermic, no? it isn't. the [math]HF_2_5[/math] for O2 is 119.11 10*119.11=1191.1 (1191.1+1066)-1716.8=540.3 these energy values can be found in Lange's Handbook of Chemistry. for some odd reason it did not indicate a unit of measurement for these values. perhaps it's calories/mole. at room temperature, the specific heat ratio for air is 1.401. if so, the delta heat in celcius is 385.6531049. of course that doesn't sound like enough. if the measurement were in kilocalories, it would be far too great. so, if anybody could lend me a hand on the conversion factor of that measurement and/or what unit it is in i would be most grateful.
  18. right, but i'm not looking forward to making an incredibly small amount of NH3 and H2O at STP.
  19. there is a pressure requirement because at STP, the decomposition reaction is favored; you don't see too much NH3 or H2O gas when you release H2 gas.
  20. both are inhumane. both are not just.
  21. justify your position. have you read das kapital? if not, you should before you make such a statement. sure, humans can be this way. have you read more's utopia? if not, read it and then discuss this with me.
  22. i understand the principles explained above. i understand that the synth reactions for H2O and NH3 would be favored because there are less moles of gas. that is basic equilibrium. i was referring to specific calculations.
  23. actually, i'd like to congratulate you for your english; it's quite good. the gland you were referring to is the thyroid, i believe.
  24. i'm not sure i could. example; i dont think that [math]NO_3- SO_4-2[/math]etc have electronegativities with similar correlation to their atomic substituents. also, i'd like to broaden this topic to include monoatomic ions.
  25. of course they can. however, many pets start to act differently when their owner's car is many miles away and there are many cars between them. i'm not so sure it is "very limited". open your mind, neo
