  1. no, what i am saying is it is never NH4OH. ever. it has recently been determined that any van der waals' forces that would form something like NH4OH are not significant. 1 is true to an extent to get NH3(g) from NH3(aq), just bouil water
  2. chlorine dioxide is incredibly unstable though...it explodes in light your other gaseous products probably include sulfur dioxide and a little Cl2O

  4. hardly. the accepted formula is NH3(aq), not NH4OH. until recently it was NH4OH.
  5. ive never had a problem with chlorine gas tho. quite frankly i dont think much of your chlorine reduced from +5 to 0, but rather i think you got a bunch of it reduced to +1 and a little reduced to +3
  6. i am completely sure that the most toxic compound is botulinum toxin a. hands down.
  7. did it smell like rotten eggs by any chance? depending on the concentrations, you could have had a bunch of dangerous gases, among them Cl2O, ClO, ClO2, SO2, H2S, SOCl2, and Cl2 to name just a few. can you tell me any specifics on the gas?
  8. you just went in after school and played around with chems??????????????/ are you mad??? chlorine dioxide is not only extremely toxic but it explodes when exposed to light. dont ever make it. ever. you end up with a bunch of products from that reaction depending on concentrations. give me a little more info

  11. recently i've been trying to figure out a good way to produce manganates. one way is the tried and true method of using fused potassium hydroxide with manganese dioxide and an oxidizing agent, such as potassium chlorate. this of course works to oxidize the manganese. i was thinking though, what about trying this in reverse? by reverse i mean reducing a permanganate, which is easier said than done when we're talking about reducing it to +6, as permanganates tend to reduce to manganese dioxide. after awhile, i figured that if one were to add a fused alkali cation, the alkali would attack the permgananate at one of the doubly bonded oxygen atoms, causing the permanganate to reduce to manganate. what do you think of the following reducing agents? LiAlH4, NaBH4, KOH, K2CO3

  15. sorry man but this is a truly terrible thread. there are loads of things i dont want to be exposed to. i have been exposed to H2S, Br2, Cl2, SO2, HCl(g), (CH3CH2)2O, Cl2O and NH3(g) among others and i will say that they are really unpleasant, some more so than others. these are by no means even close to as lethal (concentration-wise) as many other chems, namely v and g agents, such as tabun, sarin and vx as well as the novichok agents. plutonium also is incredibly dangerous in multiple ways. i believe that speaking in terms of fatal doses by number of molecules, botulinum toxin a is the most "dangerous"

  23. well it's like 5% iodine and 5% potassium iodide. and for that low percent it is very expensive
