  1. lol, yeah, it happens to cations......
  2. you really like falling back on clinton as being the source of all our problems, dont you?
  3. eh, youd have to put something in the water to rip the electrons off the hydrogen, and the thing that the hydrogen and ______ create would have to have a really low dissociation constant
  4. come now, you dont expect politicians to be honest, now do you?
  5. yeah but who wants to waste potassium permanganate in such a way? and who can find cheap potassium bichromate anyway?
  6. Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! Rounds For All!
  7. just use HCl on NaOCl (a cleaning agent on bleach) to get chlorine gas. with regard to silicon, just look for transistors
  8. i suggest you try the high temp reduction, as it could be interesting
  9. spacin, you could not have a beaker or anything filled with hydronium cations. it is just impossible. anions would be attracted
  10. sorry man but i saw you being an extremist. it's statements like the above that make me question the validity of your statement that youre more of a centrist than anything else
  11. and by the very nature of the mathematics of it.....ph is the negative log for the concentration of hydronium cations. this can be negative, and thus the pOH can be greater than 14. same thing works in the opposite way with pH
  12. you couldnt have floating protons without some sort of negative anions in the mix. thus you cannot hav a bunch of protons just sitting around. in terms of dissociation constant (how much of the acid dissociates) a solution of HF in SbF5 is the strongest acid
  13. well, that wouldnt happen as you would need anions in the mix.....pentafluoroantimonic acid is the strongest according to dissociation constant
  14. what's so interesting is your extremism in response to his extremism. with regard to the fake democracy, that was an accurate statement in that we have a republic with regard to "fact" two, you must realize that he did not single out republicans only. he used them as an example afterwards. also, you must realize that cheney is a total jackass for saying what he said about us all dying if we elect kerry with regard to the one about ignorance, you completely missed his point. he was stating that it is a horrible shame that the media (fox news? rush limbaugh...wait he isnt a news source but so many fools pretend he is) has continuously shown hussein as bin laden's sidekick and never apologized for saying so #4: yes, bush is running on a religious platform. sadly, one side of my family supports him only because theyre all evangelists and he's more "christian" (actually he isnt even remotely for his actions) than kerry and kerry is some satanist. actually, the economy blows and i wont be able to go to MIT because of it. tuition has increased greatly over the past four years and it's making me very, very pissed off. please note that mahler isnt necessarily a democrat, nor does he represent the democrats. he probably doesnt believe in EVERYTHING that the left's collective vote supports the way to solve the high drug costs is to make a competitive market. THAT IS HOW YOU SOLVE THE PROBLEM. what the hell is wrong with these people?? this is what you call a socialist market gone wrong! i would be happy to take my "chances" with canadian drugs. actually, i wouldnt have minded another few years of fdr but unfortunately he died. the country loved the man and we let him serve 3 terms as president. he saved us man and we owe him. another 4 years of clinton and we'd actually have an economy! now isnt that better than the "justice" of not having a president serve for more than 2 terms? the no fly zones were mostly occupied buddy. if you saw vultures circling over you, would you like to be there? 11: nope 12: nope ^apparently you cant read 13: wow, you really cant read 14: actually, gore won florida and the popular vote. that is fact. 15: grats, you support oligarchism. care for another 3/5ths clause?
  15. oh come on, nobody wants to hear that foul bill o'rielly language. keep it clean man. actually, carlin hated clinton, so go figure i dont believe he was referring to drafting, actually. you know, the second world war was kinda necessary to fight. fdr was the best president we have ever had and perhaps we ever will have so long as the neo-cons exist and push the left to the right. admit it buddy, the right is the side that has been pushing the neo-con movement that has pretty much stated "let's bomb all these little countries that have marginally effective air forces!"
  16. i had to mention this it's somewhat disturbing actually. in a broad view, some of it makes sense sadly. pretty much carlin attempts to put the issues into perspective.
  17. i understand the wisdom in that statement, but that does not disprove the statement that ionic bonds are stronger than covalent bonds, as you only explained one reason for the high melting/boiling points of ionic compounds compared to covalent compounds, but did not actually explain how covalent bonds are stronger. could you clear this up? i still believe that ionic bonds are stronger than covalent bonds as of now
  18. yeah, let's all make some peroxymonosulfuric:\ i was actually going to use it for its oxidizing properties as a means to not blow things up edit: well sorta
  19. i want to fractionally freeze it to concentrate the peroxide
  20. i have a nice large bottle of 40% hydrogen peroxide. unfortunately it is white and viscous. the other ingredients (aside from water and hydrogen peroxide) are: cetaryl alcohol, cetareth-20, stearic acid, cetyl alcohol and phosphoric acid. i froze the solution and the hydrogen peroxide didn't come out. that's not cool at all. it was just a white solid. how can i extract the peroxide?
  21. an order containing potassium nitrate and other compounds came in a week ago. of course, i want to make a little nitric just for experience. does anybody have suggestions for materials to use for collecting the gas? i understand the process of tubes leading from one beaker to another but im not so sure as to how i could do this easily without destroying the tubing
  22. sounds like fun. got any ideas for keeping it from fusing to my pot?
