  1. fluorine is bloody insane. it will oxidize just about anything....seriously. you cannot oxidize it. it's about 10^192035109257*(value of dangerous-ness of chlorine). chlorine i dont have much of a problem with, but fluorine i will never work with in my basement lab, and would rather not work with in a proper lab.
  2. did you read what i wrote of? how narrow-minded can you possibly be? every argument you gave supporting your statement i already proved to be invalid in my above post. read it and learn of the terrible atrocities the victors of wars commit against the have-nots.
  3. whered you get that one from? limbaugh? seriously, cite your source or the above will be declared an invalid statement. actually, clinton did the right thing. you see, he used intelligence to stop terrorists. towards the end of his presidency, there was a plot on attacking LAX. clinton met with security advisors every day and foiled the plan at the canadian border. clinton continued to meet daily until the day he left office. when bush was elected, he did not meet once with security advisors before that tragic day. in fact, he spent most of his time on vacation. this is a sciences-related forum. stating the above proves you have no knowledge of chemical physics. the mods will determine your fate. with regard to uranium, it is easily obtainable. if i wished to, i could yank a few chains and obtain quite a bunch of it. then all i would need is a really good centrifuge, and a great deal of lithium...but you know, i dont make nukes. people dont make nukes. if people wanted to kill us, they would. cargo is not scanned going onto planes. all you need is a bomb with a fuse set for sometime during flight and everybody dies. crates entering harbors are not checked. again, that's all you need to smuggle in energetic materials. also, chemical storage facilities are not at all guarded and many are found in cities. if you wanted, you could walk right in one day and use, say a pistol to make a hole in a container of boron trifluoride, which could potentially kill millions and at least hundreds of thousands. http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2003/11/13/60minutes/main583528.shtml?CMP=ILC-SearchStories check the above link for more information you see, the threat is hardly there we said similar things of the afghan warlords that we left to capture bin laden when we had him cornered...then they didn't capture him. sad how that works. thats complete bs and you know it. if you have any objections to that statement cite your sources yep, that's when the us gave al-qaida $3 billion. we also sponsored terrorism, but you dont see us bombing ourselves, now do you? write a letter. see what they think it also violates the constitution. everybody should be allowed a trial, but under the patriot act, anybody can be arrested without a warrant and held indefinately without a phone call, access to a lawyer or the justice system. that is wrong on so many levels it is rediculous for you even to argue. unless you are anti-american, you cannot support the patriot act
  4. i would imagine that [math]Fe_2O_3[/math] would be your best bet
  5. potentially, you could use a strong oxidizing agent to oxidize fluorides to fluorine gas, although it would not be in your best interest to be anywhere near the evolved gas.
  6. [math]Fe_2O_3[/math] is red and [math]Fe_3O_4[/math] is black [math]N_2O[/math] isn't an oxidizer; it's a reducer that yields nitrogen oxides. as for liquid/gaseous oxidizers, try hydrogen peroxide for a liquid. bromine works as well, but it's really nasty stuff and not terribly effective. same with chlorine gas except it's a bit less nasty to work with but annoying as hell nonetheless. also, iodine sublimes but it's poor. really, you dont want to use halogens unless it's fluorine, in which case you really dont want to work with it (and astatine too for obvious reasons).
  7. whats the point? right, but everybody was all pissed at her while big time criminals like ken lay and dick cheney walk free without trials
  8. you really didnt listen to him, did you? seriously. since you obviously missed the his plain and clear views, read the transcript a few times and see if you can't just figure out his stances on the issues. if you really cant figure them out then, just go to his website and find out just what he believes. come on, you can do it (thumbs up)
  9. um, that's the aluminum dust and sugar being oxidized, not the permanganate reacting with water. useful oxidizers for pyrotechnics/rocket fuels: potassium nitrate potassium chlorate potassium perchlorate ammonium nitrate ammonium perchlorate hydrogen peroxide barium nitrate barium sulfate (at high temperatures) iron oxide [math](Fe_2O_3 and Fe_3O_4)[/math](at high temperatures) potassium permanganate (but it's not so good in fireworks) really, just about all alkali/alkaline earth halates, perhalates and nitrates work well
  10. oops, didnt see your post. my regrets. if you wish to delete the above post, feel free to do so, mods.
  11. it does when the world bank lowers your credit. the world bank is powerful, more so than you would imagine. in the late 1770s and throughout the 1780s, the united states had no economic ties, and nobody would trade with them. only france and spain would lend the us money for us to pay our debts, and at incredibly high interest rates. yes, we were screwed at that time. yes, it means something; shays' rebellion happened. yup, it went down ever so slightly about a month before clinton left office...but hey, LETS BLAME HIM!
  12. permanganates arent reactive with water... good oxidizers are things whose cation is easily reducible, so: permanganates perhalates halates nitrates osmium tetraoxide halites and hypohalites arent good oxidizers, nor are oxides, chromates, sulfates, dichromates, phosphates, sulfites, thiosulfates, phosphites, carbonates, acetates and a bunch of others
  13. they would be killed if they didnt fulfill their obligations, you know. they either die and have their families shunned/executed or they die and keep their families alive. perhaps hussein did encourage suicide bombings. at the same time, at least he stood up for the palestinians. it is terrible what israel and america are doing to palestine. most of the hatred of us in the middle east stems from the atrocities israel commits that we support. don't jump the gun; nobody's lined up yet. well, now that you brought this up... http://www.timelines.ws/countries/ISRAEL2000.HTML "The death rate on both sides has continued to climb. Since 29 September 2000, 723 Israelis have been killed in suicide attacks. The toll of Palestinians killed by Israeli military action was 2,334 by October 2003." source: http://www.un.org/depts/ocha/cap/opt.html "Israeli forces raided four Palestinian bank branches Wednesday, seizing millions of dollars during a hunt for militant groups' money. " http://www.bakutoday.net/view.php?d=8121 this was also done 4 years ago near the beginning of the second uprising. i remember reading an article about it in my local newspaper. the article was released by the associated press and mentioned anti-tank guns breaking into the bank vault, money being taken, destroyed, and computers being destroyed, thus leaving the palestinian economy in turmoil and countless penniless. israel continuously destroys palestinian homes for little to no reason at all. it's either an "oops" or a "well, their distant cousin blew himself up yesterday so i think they shouldnt have a home!" israel continues to build that wall which has far too gates and thus makes it impossible for many people to move to market places, places of worship and/or the place they are employed at. the fact of the matter is that the israeli government is guilty of terrible crimes against the palestinians just as hamas, the al-asqa martyrs' brigade and hezbollah are guilty of terrible crimes against the israelis. both sides make military their targets as well as civilians, food stockpiles, refugee camps, hospitals and many other places. we have a terrible situation, but nobody intervenes. unfortunately, israel flaunts its power over the palestinians, which ends up coming full circle as some of their own get blown up. the united states continues to give weapons to israel, but not weapons, nor food, nor money to the palestinians, and refuses to take action in preventing israel as well as hamas, hezbollah and the al-aqsa martyrs' brigade from committing atrocities. when a palestinian home is destroyed, it pisses the inhabitants off, especially if someone they knew was in the home. they have no money or a home and live for a day or so on the streets or in a refugee camp. then, broken, they are approached by a member of hamas and offered a proposition. the patriarch fights for hamas, and potentially dies, but his family is fed, given shelter, and his children an education. compared to them all dying on the street, this isn't such a bad idea. the man's children learn to hate israel, and grow up to become martyrs. if the united states were to intervene, surely this would not be a problem. unfortuantely, the united states does nothing and the cycle continues.
  14. i find it amusing that you're arguing against something you do not understand. it totally erodes your reasons for arguing against social security. the money comes from the government. pretty much what happens is you pay money until you are older, then you get more money. nothing wrong with that, or cornbread for that matter. i really dont see the problem with that. it's better than gambling and losing
  15. freedom needs to be restricted in this case. you see, people generally aren't out to bankrupt themselves. unfortuantely corporate jackasses bankrupt their companies, take more than enough money so that they live well for the rest of their lives, and end up screwing the investors who had made a "safe and sound" investment. never see that happen with social security. "I don’t see why I should pay when somebody else does screw themself over either" i never said you should. the left is not even suggesting that actually. we just support social security, the only true sound investment.
  16. i wish people would be forced to take a political aptitude test before voting, their score being the x variable in logarithmic regression where the y axis represents their vote and the range is between 0 and 1
  17. republicans dont lean towards the independence of the american people (see above post mentioning patriot act). if you speak of economic independence, i must say that i believe that social security is one of the best things that has ever happened to us. this way we all benefit and nobody ends up getting the shaft when their (potentially) mindless investments get the shaft by even bigger business. ever see a 401k go down the drain? i have. ever see social security fail? no, you never have. social security is a left socialist principle and it has probably saved you or your family from more or less screwing yourselves with poor investments.
  18. AND SCREWS THE WORLD! the propagandists that have corrupted your mind be damned. seriously, back up your statement involving enslaving the population of the us. honestly, that is incredibly absurd. "Dependant people are not free." fools should be dependant so they dont screw over themselves and the rest of us. here's a case: man is walking along by the border between north and south korea. man is told not to move towards the line. man continues to walk, steps on one of those thermonuclear land mines and everyone dies as the third world war ensues. and oh how stupid people can be. a large government actually has nothing to do with hindering your ability to work for what you want unless they encroach on your constitutional rights. hmm, patriot act anybody? yep, according to the patriot act, the government can arrest anybody without a warrant, hold them for any amount of time they wish and not give them access to a lawyer or a phone call, or the justice system. that sounds a bit "big". that sounds a bit "wrong".
  19. hussein had nothing to do it, and we continue to ignore saudi arabia, (the real place where terrorists are (in order to keep our oil contracts)) iran, north korea (the place we let obtain nukes) and the genocide in sudan. so we crucify martha stewart for a few illegal actions but we let it slide when it comes to ken lay who personally screwed over the majority of the country. and then there's dick cheney, our vice president, who, as ceo of halliburton evaded taxes by commandeering a "headquarters" on some island whose population is 0 (and nobody works at the hq by the way), illegally traded with rogue regimes and sanctioned nations, and received no-bid contracts for 5x the required price to rebuild iraq. actually there are quite a few padillas. http://www.patriotwatch.org/ still does not justify the deaths of hundreds of thousands of innocents. lacked actual civilian support. cost us our record surplus, plunged us into debt greater than ever before. it just isn't good. and really, has this happened yet? nope. will it happen? perhaps, but it will be limited. i know that the polls will be attacked. i know that people will die trying to vote. i know the election will end up being less htan legitimate.
  20. haha we should all move to siberia, the collective lot of us. all we'd need is money:\ and we'd need to stay away from those uranium mines that random campers come upon and die in 10 minutes later
  21. yes, astatine 210 is actually something like 100,000x more radioactive than radium 226. i'll be receiving an order of chemicals in a few weeks, and among the chemicals is bismuth. i will keep my it away from smoke detectors, etc. speaking of cesium, anybody seen the chloride salt for sale? i almost purchased some from the al-chymist. unfortuantely it isn't terribly feasible for me to create a helium atmosphere, melt the chloride and electrolyze it all
  22. i want a $150k grant to start a lab in, say, siberia...
  23. funny you mention the slaughter. the polls dont show slaughter like they did when kerry p0wn3d bush the other day
  24. are you bloody serious? he refuses to recognize the facts about iraq! he has yet to regard the war as a poor decision, even though every piece of support he can muster up is false. he continuously denies problems with the economy, and chooses not to address it. he refuses to address the situation in sudan as well as north korea, and cannot bring it upon himself to apologize for not capturing bin laden when we had him cornered. how can people possibly support him AND manage to tie their own shoes? [/rant]
  25. outsourcing is a double-edged sword. on one hand, you're helping smaller nations develop by sending them jobs. the company pays them less, and pay less in taxes. on the other hand, you are taking away potential american jobs. personally i believe that companies that outsource should be taxed much more than companies that do not outsource.
