i do not believe, however, that iraq would turn its military forces on the united states anytime soon at least

which nitrogen oxide are you referring to?
-
come now. i "play" with fuming supersaturated aqueous HCl. lemme know! (pm me)

Unequal right for acid and alkaline
budullewraagh replied to Primarygun's topic in Inorganic Chemistry
"acid" and "alkaline" are terms referring to aqueous solutions of compounds that (respectfully) donate and accept hydronium ions -
that wasn't blind at all. bush is authoritarian (actually he imposed legislation that makes it essentially legal to be a facist (as he can arrest anybody)). in doing this, he ignored the constitution. and as for the other two adjectives, i think we can univerally agree that he is "conservative" and a "fool"

Blue? Potassium chlorate/perchlorate?
budullewraagh replied to budullewraagh's topic in Inorganic Chemistry
i just looked at the pics and that powder looked a bit sketchy. i take it the chlorate was that yellowish stuff. it should actually be a white powder. you have sulfur in it. -
Blue? Potassium chlorate/perchlorate?

open it with windows movie maker and save it as a .wmv if you do it at low or medium quality you can get a 30 second video that's only a few megs (<4 i think) try http://www.freewebs.com for 100mb of free hosting -
actually you can get 40-45% in glow sticks, which isn't so bad. it's a good thing youd never be able to keep it down; it'd oxidize you stomach HCl to hypochloric/chloric acid most likely, which would be really, really bad.
-
actually i cannot vote yet. could you justify the relevance of that statement?
-
he didn't say that his was over 70% [math]H_2O_2[/math] is a very, very strong oxidizer. if you add a decent reducing agent to conc [math]H_2O_2[/math], it will explode violently.

sorry for the rant, but i definately have answered these questions 5 times or so in the 2 pages of this thread.

Blue? Potassium chlorate/perchlorate?
budullewraagh replied to budullewraagh's topic in Inorganic Chemistry
oh man. save it as a .wmv it won't be compatible with everything but at least it will load. -
well, i haven't studied terribly much physics yet (just starting my ap class this year in fact). i'd have to look into those
-
owch, that looked painful. [math]H_2O_2[/math] tends to do that to you oxidize things. use it as a propellant, oxidizing agent, or, if you're feeling absolutely insane, add it slowly to sulfuric acid (the more conc the better). if you do the latter, be bloody careful as you will be making peroxymonosulfuric acid, the corrosive oxidizing agent from hell. i would advise you to wear a protective jacket made out of chalk, but wait, the carbonate would just be burned through, as well as your clothes, skin, etc.

they don't. photons have no mass or volume and thus they have nothing resisting their motion. they are the fastest "things" that exist. quarks have mass and volume and thus cannot exceed the speed of light.

liquid diamond probably has been prepared. it is at least feasible to do under the correct conditions. i would imagine that heating it greatly in a highly pressurized atmosphere of helium would work

the injuries kerry sustained are irrelevant. what's relevant is that kerry served his country while bush chose not to. what's even more relevant are the records of the two; kerry realized that vietnam was a horrible unjustified war and stood up for the truth while bush got stoned. now kerry is going to replace bush, the worst president in history, and (in my opinion) the worst thing that's happened to the world since stalin
-
i would vote for kerry because he's sane, unlike our authoritarian conservative constitution burning fool "president'

the sugar didn't melt; it oxidized. was the color purple/lilac? if so, that's characteristic of the oxidizing. -
Blue? Potassium chlorate/perchlorate?
budullewraagh replied to budullewraagh's topic in Inorganic Chemistry
ok. try burning some with sucrose as well. if it goes up like crazy, you have chlorate -
Has anyone heard of cyalic acid?
budullewraagh replied to Ice_Phoenix87's topic in Organic Chemistry
i have never heard of cyalic acid, and when i looked online, found nothing on it. to get pure manganese from the dioxide, just use reduction potentials and replace the manganese. -
sure thing. carbon dioxide has a triple point, you know. if you have a great amount of pressure and room temperature, you will find that carbon dioxide will become a liquid

i think that it's weak even with the attacks. one could make the claim that he is at fault for what happened considering he ignored clinton's warnings, did not meet with advisors every day (or any day) like clinton did and took more vacation off in his first 8 months than any president had prior (yes, more than franklin delano roosevelt who served for 16 years).

i'd read linus pauling's General Chemistry. you may want to check out the merck index and lange's handbook of chemistry if you want detailed reference material what specifically are you going into?

Blue? Potassium chlorate/perchlorate?
budullewraagh replied to budullewraagh's topic in Inorganic Chemistry
if you have any sulfur, remove it. if you get white powder after boiling off a bunch of water, keep it; it's the chlorate/perchlorate
