  1. the idea of this forum is its for everyone. no one in my exp has laughed at a genuine question of mine, how ever basic. something that may seem simple to you might be complicated to another person, and vice versa.
  2. im doin the same course (y10 tho). i know my and many other schools provide the module papers and the actual exam ones for us to use in class. most schools keep the past papers for testing. the modular "multiple choice" style test papers a pretty easy anyway, presuming you have common sense and an interest in science.
  3. anyone got one for me?
  4. well its a acid-base reaction followed by decomposition. CH3COOH + NaHCO3 ---> CH3COONa + H2CO3 the H2CO3 then quickly decomposes into carbon dioxide and water, the CO2 is what you see bubbling. the salt would be sodium acetate, as the acid in vinegar is acetic acid.
  5. from what ive seen on the net ill stick with temporary mounts until i get better. what stuff will i need to get started? i mean the basics like stains, slides, dissecting stuff, and general solvents, things like that.
  6. http://www.blackviper.com/Articles/OS/InstallXPHome/installxphome1.htm heres a good guide for installing xp home. you can format the harddrive within the windows xp setup, it will do it automatically.

  9. from experiance its usually the "cheaper" variety that play vcd's more than the expensiver brand name models.
  10. a few Q's: 1. Where is the best palce in the UK to buy microscopes, online preferably. 2. What are the basic things i will need to prepare and stain microscope slides, and is there any shops/ online stores (pref. Uk also) that stock these. or just things that would be handy in microscopy. Also like a 'starters kit' would be usefull if anyone knows of a sort. 3. Any good books on microscopy or websites for the begginer? thanks!
  11. youll have to format clean, and then install xp. the two file systems are incompatible. just make sure all the files you want (documents etc) are backed up.
  12. i think some video capture cards take the red, yellow and white cables, presuming thats what your vcr does.

  17. so they do sort of "evolve" like i thought? so in windows case it was from BASIC machine code to dos to gui and dos to a fully fleged os? must have been alot harder for them back in the day!
  18. ive always wondered about things like this, becuase operating systems seem to just evolve from themselves eg. linux is programmed under linux and windows is programmed under windows.
  19. might be something to do with the upgrade to the forum software.

  22. stop picking arguments! maybe i said that wrong, i think there should be more regulations on immigration and asylum.
  23. going back to their site (bnp) some of their non racist policies look alright, eg pensioners before asylum seekers, and the one about getting away from europe. isnt there some law about racist partys or do they use clever loopoles?
