or buy a host with fantastico...

i just wanted a challenge, and something to do with electrolosis.
-
connections ar alright and was a brand new duracell 9v. should it be fizzing all through the 48 hour peroid?
-
right well its bieng going for a good few hours and stop bubbleing but ill leave it like you said. 3 times lol, how many zinc carbon baterys am i gonna go through. are you saying i store it as a liquid or store it once it had crystalised?
-
so ive electrolised salt water and what have i made? what your saying is mix what i have made with lo-salt and let it crystalise? then i will have potassium chlorate? sorry for getting mixed up . also what are the correct way to strore potassium chlorte?
-
a. cremation q. cryogenically freezed or donated to medical science.
-
a. put the banana in liquid nitrogen. q. do you like the x files?
-
right ive put salt water on electrolosis with 2 carbon electrodes (off a D battery) and theres a heavy smell of chlorine. im doing what YT briefly mentioned in this thread http://www.scienceforums.net/forums/showthread.php?t=3023&highlight=potassium+chlorate , have i done this right and to get my potassium chlorate what will i have to do, crystalise it?
-
sorry im getting mixed up with chems. i wanted to make potassium chloride to extract potassium chlorate out of bleach. basically i want to have a go at making some matches. is there a easier way of getting potassium chlorate?
-
i want to make some potassium chloride (lo-salt) purley to see if i can do it. would electrolosis with salt (sodium chloride) water and some carbon electrodes work? and with what power battery? ive only done electrolysis a couple of time before.
-
i only like doing it if it DIED and was not killed, and it crosses the line with cats but thats banned in england i think.
-
thanks guys. ill either get my teacher to see if theres any local labs or theyll get me in at the hospitle, and if it comes to worst ill ask if i can be a lab tech at school. its just a fact that some places just make you make coffee for everyone which i dont want.
-
ive watched the forensic files a few times on discovery. indeed you are that person and i would like to thank you for clearing up what seems so be fiction . will that key grove place ship to a residency or is it just for companys? sent for a catalog anyway thanks. aslo wolfson what job would you do after your degree?
-
yes we all scanned each other with the gieger counter and quite amusing it was. i managed to get upto 0.5 somewere around my liver.
-
at the risk of sounding imature i will keep that cool remark i was going to use to myself . but seriously uramium and plutonium has fascinated me for years, the years after i realised it isnt glowing neon green like on the simposns but a beatiful silver element that tarnishes gold like in oxygen.i heard you can find uramium in mines in cornwall? but what is the possesion laws? and how would it be safe lol, how many lead roof tiles would i need... i remember going to wales a few month back near were the nuclear power station was and i took a pH sample of the water in the lake and it was extremely low. i think my parents get a bit too woried these days, carrying lab/test equiptment on holiday.
-
must be getting it mixed up with a different one then. hmm do you know any gamma elements that a school would use to refresh my memory? i can remember the gamma one being in a lead box inside another lead box. and is it true that when uranium made U-235 it is actually lead? this isotope thing it a bit unclear still. i would try your homemade reactor in another post but ill need to get my hands on an second hand geiger meter first.
-
i might just ask the chem teacher to demonstrate it in a fume cupboard one day, shes always open to suggestions. on thursday we got the geiger-muller counter out and ABG radioactive elements, the only one i can remember is americium and thats gamma right? well i think thats the best. to be honest i thought schools wernet allowed to carry anything radioactive, and you have to be atleast 16 to be exposed?
-
ill leave that one alone then. its just sometimes i have to check cos the teachers tell me lies so i dont do anything.
-
I want to make a volcano, but not one like vinegar and baking soda. So my chem teacher recomended using Ammonium Dichromate and she said it will be hard to get hold of and may give you cancer? So how would i make ammonium dichromate and is it really risky?
-
well mostly chemistry (in a lab), but other areas like forensics, nuclear/radiation, medicine, i can see it is still very vague but im at the age where i have to start thinking. isnt anthropology like bones? also do normal hospitles have labs that would let me do work exp? or is there labs all over england that specialise in different areas?
-
yes biology seems like a really interesting subject, but normally im interested in chem/physics, and so far in school weve only done things like dissection of pigs hart and lungs (hated the lungs - they smelled like they were decomposing).
-
Can some people tell me what you work as (science) and what qualificaions you have? Im seriously interested in a career in science and would like to know what the industry is really like. And do any labs let you do work experiance there?
-
strangely enought im just starting gcse biology , and im the only one that seems to be excited.

well in plants glucose is stores as starch right? and in humans when the glucose hasnt been burnt off it turns into fat cells right?
-
says i need a passoword for them notes but nevermind. so is there any uk stores that carry forensic supplies or luminol or is the price not worth it? well ive heard you can get them sticks called heme sticks (ive only seen dia sticks before) and i think you can buy them in the chemist. and can you explain .
