How seed is growing in the soil without sunlight?
Fuzzwood replied to Ganesh Ujwal's topic in Biology
A seed usually contains plenty of sugars which it uses up first. A plant has mitochontria-like structures in its nuclei, which can use sugars to generate ATP. -
How was the formula for kinetic energy found, and who found it?
Fuzzwood replied to Ganesh Ujwal's topic in Physics
Well why are people interested in studying anything at all? Because we want to know. At least the ones with more than 2 brain cells, that is. -
It's definitely possible: http://www.ijser.org/researchpaper/electrical_power_generation_using_piezoelectric_crystal.pdfregards extracting electricity from a walking motion. However, the power gained is very low.

Well, imo there is another effect. The levitated magnet is just a fraction more distanced from the gravity well than the magnet below it. Since gravity scales as 1 over r², the levitated magnet will experience less gravitational force. On the other hand, there is a lump of metal with a certain mass directly in its path, which will add a bit to the attractive force.

There is no answer to 'why', it just happened. Mankind isn't all that special, you know. It just likes to pretend it is. There are millions of less favourable situations for us. That doesn't mean that other conditions aren't suitable for other life forms. Take black smokers for instance.

There is no 'believing'. The fact that you can read this message means that the theory is sound.

We don't need to. One of the wonderful things of science is that whomever makes a claim is also burdened to deliver the proof of whatever claim they made. With your reasoning I could claim that unicorns exist. Can you deny their existence?

You would be surprised how little energy a spring can actually hold compared to its mass.
-
X = Y = Z. Attraction or repulsion doesn't change the mass of the system and weight is defined as Fz = m*g

They don't melt. What does normally happen when you introduce a salt to a volume of water?

Which is hosted on a science forum having lots of members with a scientific background. You don't see us (i sincerily hope) spamming religious fora with the evolution theory either, do we?

Explosive unplanned disassembly.

Tentative conclusion: people quickly get mad or laugh (stress induced in chimpanzees causes a similar response) when they don't understand you, instead of asking for clarification. The latter would cause them to lose face in front of the group, and therefor lowering their social position. You gotta love the zoölogists.

How to counter strong winds when driving a car...

That round thing called a steering wheel is not an option? -
Will 3D printing provide us with real organs for transplant ?
Fuzzwood replied to petrushka.googol's topic in Engineering
Real organs will depend on: being able to print undifferentiated (stem-) cells and/or the cells of the corresponding organ, having some sort of scaffolding as organs tend to be hollow in some places, a way to remove this scaffolding, and a way to make sure the cells stick together after the scaffold is removed. -
Why is the Earth electrically neutral?

That's because you don't start out from the half equations. If you can figure out those, it's usually just balancing electrons after that. The rest falls into place.

Comet/Meteor Impact with Earth - split from Rosetta
Fuzzwood replied to kristalris's topic in Astronomy and Cosmology
Except that the chosen orbital body is not an asteroid. Comets generally burn up in the atmosphere. -
We put a satellite on a comet 500.000.000 km away. If that isn't a miracle then I don't know anymore

Man-made evolution?
Fuzzwood replied to TransformerRobot's topic in Evolution, Morphology and Exobiology
They already evolved to become the microbes they were. What's there to stop the surviving ones to continue that trend? -
Gravitational field of the earth. Look at the higher gravitational constant around Indonesia. 'nuff said. Suppose you HAVE built this wheel around the moon with part of it in the mascon. It moves a bit in any direction. Some mass moves into the mascon, the same amount of mass moves out of the mascon. Has anything changed force-wise? No! Therefore the wheel won't rotate or it will rotate indefinitely at the same speed as you gave it. There will be no further acceleration or deceleration coming from the mascon. The amount of energy supplied in getting the wheel to turn at a certain velocity is independent of there being a mascon underneath it.

Debating Intelligent Design
Fuzzwood replied to Asterisk Propernoun's topic in Evolution, Morphology and Exobiology
The main driver for evolution is that you with all your capabilities and traits has a chance of getting laid and have survivable offspring. If you did not get laid, then there is a high chance that your traits and capabilities were less favorable than those of the creature that did get laid. -
Please explain process of how water becomes steam?
Fuzzwood replied to vitality00's topic in Modern and Theoretical Physics
Because I guess this is homework and they aren't allowed to use wikipedia as a reference.
