From what I have experienced, you can have this moment while sleeping mostly or while rested. This is because your subconscious mind is actually working, and trying to solve the problem; you mostly will mot be aware of this. It happened to me a few times, like in the morning 10 mins before getting up, I would imagine the solution of a problem so well, that it hits me like "Duh, why didnt I think of it before", even for some really complex problems!

I do understand what you are saying, but thats not how you define the requirments! What about power required to crush the object and the power source? Did you approximately calculate whats your upper limit, do you want to crush titanium? or just Tin cans? Whats the best you could find online on hydraulic companies and what do they offer in different sizes? Are there any universities which are researching on hydraulic joints and have any of them found a way to control small hydraulic machines? What pressure tank/punp will you be using? We cannot tell what you need unless you tell whats your financial limits are. How much you willing to spend? Answer some of these and then I'll do my best.

You know just a moment ago I took this post as a little offensive and wrote a long reply, but after reflecting on what I wrote and realizing it looked a lot like an irritated retort, I erased it. However, after erasing it I pondered the statement and realized you are right in a very very minute way. I have noticed that in mathematics and complex physics like Relativity and Quantum mechanics, there are few instances where a problem is solved by making huge approximations and assumptions, and creating new problems. Well, from my experience and as a 3rd year student you would have to look at this problem in a better way, and define it more clearly. For one, any physical system has upper and lower limits to its ability to convert energy, like here, electrical to mechanical. A DC/AC motor would not have that much power, for the size you have specified, to crush a metal can. And a hydraulic system of that size will firstly need to be really strong to handle that much pressure, secondly must have a machine which can supply that much pressure! However if you notice, there are other methods to make an exoskeleton, we here ourselves are working on Smart Memory Alloys to be used as muscles. Look it up online and restate, redefineyour ultimate goal.

Press a few buttons of yout TV remote in front ofthe lence and see. you should see some faint light. Why are scientists so practicle, cant they absorb the metaphysical? Its not imp we have proof of everything, sometimes intution makes us believe in things, and whcih some of us have experienced. Half the things the scientists concied was when they werent working or thinking about a problem, it just stuck them, try to look into this...maybe ill post some quotes later.

Oh rayam you are a GOD..and you to Luke(I do grok at the fullness), Its been years since I have been looking for some who are interested in making the starship a posibility! With common sence in mind, we know its not possible now but I got sooooooo many ideas and proper analysis of them that in a year or so it maybe possible to just visualize the dream and then take steps to do the basic requirements, like material transfer to space(cuz this thing is not possible to make on earth and take it up, i prefer to build it up there). Well, This absorbtion and reemision is just an analogy, in reality photons , which r just vibrational energy(not at all particles, like in the real sence) just hit go through a medium and get deflected, just as they enter a medium, u know refraction happens at the surface. Ok as it hits the surface, they get an effect of being thrown out of their original path. and in the medium continue in that deflected path, when they exit, they get deflected in the same way but reverse....so original path again.... But there was something which always bothered me...light will get diflected only to the plane its traveling....like a line of laser in a 2d plane, traveling at x+y will get diflected in the x-y plane not the z plane, even though in 3d world...i donno wat happens.

Has anyone read the book by Fritjof Capra, The tao of physics. A book which so beautifuly lies down the parallels b/w ancient mysticism(hinduism, taoism, conf and buthism), mainly abt relativity and QM, but very very believable. He is a Physicist. and most of the sayings and texts r from books from: werner heisenberg julius robert oppenheimer niels bohr and many more including some of eienstine too.

ok in general tearms, if a red laser (which we get in stores) is made to reflect once off a totaly reflecting surface(practically not possible, u told me this long time back thanks) then is it possible to calc the ammount of energy lost?

better if more consistant. but as a general rant, how much energy does a photon(monochrome or white)(or a group of photons) looses after it reflects from: 1. a white surface 2. surface the color of the laser. 3. opposite color of the laser.
