Correct, gravity only attracts, never repels, so I don't see a way you could possibly "cancel" the effects of gravity (unless, of course, antigravity is possible, but such a phenomenon has never been observed).

Yup. But that doesn't stop them from trying to make a connection. After all, the date 2012 can be pulled right from the bible codes as well... I guess so. Not that it matters, as soon as 2012 comes and goes, they will pick yet another new date. And another one, and another one. The end of the world theorists are just like the energizer rabbit on commercials, they just keep on going and going.

I'm having a hell of a time trying to convince and warn everyone over here right now, including the rest of my family (e.g. get rid of that SUV NOW!). Unfortunately, they have mastered their ability to deny reality over the years.... And its not like they can't do it either. I don't know what it is, but it seems to me that folks here in America would rather pay more to hold on to their habits then to actually take real steps to fix all of our problems. Most Americans here truly don't understand the enormity of the problem that we will be facing here, and I have a feeling that by the time they do, it will be too late...

I understood that, but I'm also sure that in the UK you don't have big cars, large pickup trucks, or SUV's. And I'm also sure that your cars have more miles to the U.S. gallon. That's why I have a reason to complain about it. I would like to buy the very small "smart cars", as they are called in the U.S., that are common in Europe, but over here they don't even sell them. And there isn't any effort to improve the mileage here. I've heard of people over here having to pay over $100 at the pump to fill those gas guzzlers of theirs.

What extremist rhetoric?

Some topics on vector calculus, and an intro into tensors and suffix notation. Nothing too complicated in those topics though, I only know the basics so far (writing some will also help me retain understanding of math topics, don't want to leave my brain to rot over the summer ). I can also give an intro into multivariable calculus if you wish.

Can anyone post a math tutorial about a given subject? Or are admins and mods only allowed to do that? What kind of math topics can I post about. I would like to write one up...

I don't think we will know how likely life is on other worlds until we actually find it elsewhere. Until then, all of this is pure conjecture.... Even if life exists on more than 50% of all star systems, it would still take quite a bit of time to actually find it because of the huge size of the Universe. Also note that the vast majority of all the solar systems found so far are not likely to have planets that support life; the super-Jupiter's tend to get in the way.

True, but Bush being an idiot does play a big part in this, and he isn't getting any closer to improving relations, more like making them worse... Well, that was Al-Qaeda, from Saudi Arabia, not the Iranians. Keep in mind that the Sunni and Shite regimes are also enemies to each other; though they both hate the west that doesn't mean that they are allies. Iran, which is predominately Shia, is very unlikely to help Al Qaeda, and Hizbollah and Syria (Iran's allies) are much more focused on Israel then on the U.S. or Europe.
