  1. I think he may be talking about the double slit test from posterity. In which to very narrow slits are placed in a row at a distance in a box. When light is let in the first slit, only a straight beam passes through the second slit. when viewing the light pattern on the back of the device, the light beam is slightly wider than the slit, indicating light acts as a wave. Before this test, light was only proven to act as a particle and with this historic test light was proven to behave as both. Sadly this test changed the way science thought about light, where as now we can see many problems with this test and various reasons for the outcome.
  2. Looking back, Mmmmm higgs, not so much.
  3. Sometimes, you need to work on the impossible. I think what you are really trying to do is create a mag motor and no you can't create an imbalance by using the magnets attraction and sliding them sideways at a lower resistance and net a gain. I am not saying it is impossible to make a mag motor, but science for the last few hundred years does. Try, it is a fun and great mental work out, but not much more.
  4. I would imagine the shapes you show to be stronger and lighter. Also very costly to build, thou this is not to say not practical. Beside cost, complex shapes also have the disadvantage of complexity itself, more to fail. This is untested, but an idea you are welcome to. If you fill the cavity with shapes, like say balls, light wieght balls of super thin plastic like the type in a ball pit for kids and then fill with epoxy or super high density urethane too form a bubble honeycomb similar to the structure of bird bones.
  5. Ethanol based fuels are foolish. It is one thing to use ethanol to achieve an oct. rating to allow the fuel to run correctly in an engine. To use ethanol as a fuel when peto is avail. is crazy and I will tell you why. It is est. that 2 gallons of diesel fuel are burned to farm, harvest and manu 1 gallon of ethanol. Like most green tech it causes more damage than the old way. I am a fan of green, but most of it is worse than the old way and the gov. should make green market prove the effectiveness of it products.
  6. How about just a smooth inner and outer skin with instead of a truss shape inside, an injection of high density polyurathane foam?
  7. The word entropy and the understanding of it in thermodynamics is in question by many scientists. It is basic understanding that adding energy adds entropy, but many don't find this to be true. Howard bloom for one raises the question that the big band lead more to order than entropy, and even it a super nova seen as entropy, in reality most of our heavy elements are formed, elements with higher and more complex forms.
  8. What are asking?
  9. Hey, its your rocket. I can tell you that solid mag. is not as much of a problem as powder and flames are not as much of a problem as sparks. I can tell you building costs go way up and people have to be trained and cert in working with mag. I doubt you will find any welders cert. and you will need clean air welding mask I am sure by osha. You might require semiannual blood tests as well. I have a block of mag with a flint on it in my first aid kit. You shave some with a knife and use the flint and it goes up quit nice. Another issue you may have is any hardware you use or any other material that contacts the mag. may react, esp. in rain or high humidity.
  10. Physical and chemical properties Elemental magnesium is a fairly strong, silvery-white, light-weight metal (two thirds the density of aluminium). It tarnishes slightly when exposed to air, although unlike the alkali metals, storage in an oxygen-free environment is unnecessary because magnesium is protected by a thin layer of oxide that is fairly impermeable and difficult to remove. Like its lower periodic table group neighbor calcium, magnesium reacts with water at room temperature, though it reacts much more slowly than calcium. When submerged in water, hydrogen bubbles will almost unnoticeably begin to form on the surface of the metal, though if powdered it will react much more rapidly. The reaction will occur faster with higher temperatures (see precautions). Magnesium's ability to react with water can be harnessed to produce energy and run a magnesium-based engine. Magnesium also reacts exothermically with most acids, such as hydrochloric acid (HCl). As with aluminium, zinc and many other metals, the reaction with hydrochloric acid produces the chloride of the metal and releases hydrogen gas. Magnesium is a highly flammable metal, but while it is easy to ignite when powdered or shaved into thin strips, it is difficult to ignite in mass or bulk. Once ignited, it is difficult to extinguish, being able to burn in nitrogen (forming magnesium nitride), carbon dioxide (forming magnesium oxide and carbon) and water (forming magnesium oxide and hydrogen). This property was used in incendiary weapons used in the firebombing of cities in World War II, the only practical civil defense being to smother a burning flare under dry sand to exclude the atmosphere. On burning in air, magnesium produces a brilliant white light which includes strong ultraviolet. Thus magnesium powder (flash powder) was used as a source of illumination in the early days of photography. Later, magnesium ribbon was used in electrically ignited flash bulbs. Magnesium powder is used in the manufacture of fireworks and marine flares where a brilliant white light is required. Flame temperatures of magnesium and magnesium alloys can reach 3,100 °C (3,370 K; 5,610 °F),[7] although flame height above the burning metal is usually less than 300 mm (12 in).[8] Magnesium may be used as an ignition source for thermite, an otherwise difficult to ignite mixture of aluminium and iron oxide powder. Magnesium compounds are typically white crystals. Most are soluble in water, providing the sour-tasting magnesium ion Mg2+. Small amounts of dissolved magnesium ion contribute to the tartness and taste of natural waters. Magnesium ion in large amounts is an ionic laxative, and magnesium sulfate (common name: Epsom salt) is sometimes used for this purpose. So-called "milk of magnesia" is a water suspension of one of the few insoluble magnesium compounds, magnesium hydroxide. The undissolved particles give rise to its appearance and name. Milk of magnesia is a mild base commonly used as an antacid, which has some alloy is much more safe
  11. I read both and pretty much was what I knew. The article that I read the discovery was only a sigma-4 but they gave a different percentage for the particle they found being something other than a Higgs. Sorry can’t find it. The first link you gave said they stopped using 3-sigma events because many turned out to be proven wrong. Then it said last year their was a 6-sigma event proven wrong. It seems they need a different system. Hey, maybe higgs will hold on, but I don’t believe it will.
  12. I agree with all of this and believe we already have fine gun laws. What is next make gas or diesel illegal. Bad things happen, they don't always require change.
  13. You give no useful info or debate. Keep ur opinions to yourself.
  14. Math and science were used together, but people once respected that math was learn from nature. In no way does math control nature. Math is like a computer, it only does what it is programmed to do, unless you are god you have no definite proof your variables truely stand for what you say they do, nor can you say their are no other circumstances that would change the out come. 1 is the only true number, all other number is mans attempt at making it easer to understand groups of 1. Nature either exists=1 or doesn’t.
  15. No My post ask what people thought and I told them what I thought and then I gave them so reasons I believed this. You on the hand just make digs at my post and empty jabs with no good reason. If you have nothing to add or debate then kindly don't post anything.
