Spiderman, if you haven't seen "What the Bleep Do We Know?" I would highly ( jk) recommend watching these films. They sort-of combine religion (no comment) with current dimension and special relativity theories, with a tad of string theory mixed in. I'm not comparing any one individual person on Earth, including you Spiderman; are there any medical professionals here that can state with evidence that smoking cannabis could really induce permanent psychosis? I'd like to add that Mari-j-uana use is very common place at universities in Canada (since I can't speak for any other ones), and according to some of my criminology & justice friends, it’s actually shown to reduce violence, alcohol abuse and even suicide rates during critical points in the year. That said, I'm not by any means a medical expert, but I will tell you I know many cannabis users, and none have experienced anything more than a bad high. The realization of one’s own mortality is usually enough to ground anyone. Exercise, eating right, regular water intake and an overall outgoing mindset (e.g. positive lifestyle) seem to be the best solution before using pharmaceuticals to correct mental functionality. But, of course, these are just words, life’s scarcely that simple. Just remember to always open up to someone, anyone! A few spoken words can make all the difference in your life.

Hi all, found SFN from doing google research, it provided me with answers, so I joined. Looks like their are many great minds here, hope I can contribute now & then. About me: I'm a recent Commerce & IT undergraduate, and have been hired at "my" university to assist in patent & new technology license transfers. I'm interested in many areas of science, probably from the early days of mixing random things in the basement with mom's old blender Atomic history is one of my fav subjects, and I've collected many artifacts (video & paper records) from that period of U.S./British history. Also, my grandfather was Prof. Eric Burhop, which recently sparked my interest in researching his contributions to atomic development... also, before the a-bombs were used in Japan, he had left the Manhattan project in protest, and pursued early activism against nuclear warfare proliferation. Other interests include business and entrepreneurship development, especially where online technologies are concerned. I’m currently managing a small business, providing in-home support, building custom PC’s and facilitating online conferencing for small-medium sized businesses. Apart from my work, I suppose I have a ‘normal’ life, when I’m not thinking about business, which is basically 23 hrs of everyday. I’m currently living in Toronto with 2 roomies, and hoping to spend some time in the U.K. this coming fall (time permitting). I tend to believe that film/TV reflects everyday life, and I’ve become too critical of most common shows… currently my favourite TV series are: Weeds, Dexter, Eureka, The Riches, Dragon’s Den, Top Gear. Ok, I'm stopping here.

I was pleased to find a thread about this subject, also glad I could make this my first post on SFN. Replicators are actually a spin-off of teleportation technology, and theirs much to read on wiki about that. My personal theory regarding replicators is a future cause for global economic collapse. If I can turn fundamental matter into anything, does this not negate currency and wealth? I suppose it’s the old alchemists dream of making pure gold, but in reality that’s exactly what a replicator could do; or diamonds, platinum, why not a barrel or two of oil? Mankind would literally have nothing to trade for labour, rendering our value system, well… worthless. IMO, that’s probably THE cure for our messed up world, only second to a massive “level the playing-field” meteor scenario. I suppose the upcoming CERN experiments with LHC and mapping particle collisions will develop a multitude of techniques. However, the day when it’s as convenient as Star Trek is far away.
