Can any one help with hints, suggestions idead?? Im lost ;-(
(a) Provide the equilibrium constant expression (Kc) for the following reactions
(i) 2 NO2(g) + 7 H2(g) -------------> 2 NH3(g) + 4 H2O(l) Kc =
(ii) 4 FeS2(s) + 10 O2(g) ------------------->2 Fe2O3(s) + 8 SO2(g) Kc =
(iii) H2O(g)+ C(s) ------------------------->H2 (g)+ CO(g) Kc =
(b) Consider the reaction of hydrogen with sulfur to produce hydrogen sulfide.
CO(g) + H2O(g) 2 CO2(g) + H2(g)
At equilibrium (at 5500°C) the concentrations of each gas are:
[H2] = 0.200 mol L 1, [CO] = 0.180 mol L 1 , [CO2] = 0.150 mol L 1 and [H2O] = 0.0.0411 mol L 1.
Calculate the equilibrium constant for this reaction. ?
c) Nitric oxide reacts with chlorine gas as follows
2 NO(g) + Cl2(g) 2 NOCl(g) Kp = 0.26 (at 700 K)
The partial pressures of the three gases are measured and found to be
P(NO) = 0.17 bar, P(Cl2) = 0.50 bar, P(NOCl) = 0.66 bar.
(i) Calculate the reaction quotient (Qp)
(ii) Is the reaction at equilibrium? __________________________
(iii) If not, in which direction (towards reactant or product side) is it progressing?__________________
