I'm so rusty at this but here's my attempt: i just googled this cos i couldn't do it - http://au.answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080201232639AARCrDo 3Cu + 8HNO3 ----> 3Cu(NO)2 + 4H2O + 2NO this one was easier There are 8+4 S on the right so you need that on the left hence 6S2Cl2. This means you've got to have 12 Cl too, Hence 12NH4Cl. This means you've now got 12 + 4 Nitrogen on the right, hence 16 NH3 on the left. 3*16 H = 12*4 H. 6S2Cl2+ 16NH3 --> N4S4+ 12NH4Cl +S8 i hope someone else comes up with a better answer to the first problem. probably shouldn't have put this in the organic chemistry section though although you've been a member longer than i have
