Some gases are large molecules, while others are smaller. What gases do you want it to pass or stop? I have used a thin, flexible, porous Teflon membrane and vacum to remove atmospheric gases from aqueous solutions. It was used in various biological assays and worked fine. I got the idea from HPLC degassing systems. For example http://www.labhut.com/products/hplc/degassers/index.php EDIT: I just remembered that disposable contact lenses are gas permeable. I forget the exact polymer....but it is a hydrogel....you might want to google gas permeable contact lense.

I do. They win in a similar manner that a soft, low melting, brass nozzel hooked up to oxygen and acetylene wins against thick steel all the time, everyday and/or how an oxygen lance wins against thick, reinforced concrete all the time, everyday. Those chrome-moly steel struts were simply delivery vehicles for the fuel, which did the real damage, much like a brass torch is just a delivery vehicle for oxy/acetylene. One thing is for certain, no matter what it is or how thick or massive it is, get it hot enough and it WILL fail. So what part about getting materials hot enough to melt and/or fail needs a conspiracy?

It does make sense, but only if you are on crack AND a student of Sun Tzu. I happen to be both, so permit me to translate for you..... For example: 1. When you sally forth to meet the enemy, show your contempt for him by the haughtiness of your prance. 2. Confuse your enemy with mixed metaphors. Be like the wind beneath his keel. 3. All warfare is based on deception. When the enemy draws near to you, cry out, "Look out behind you." When he turns to look behind him, attack. 4. Always keep the blades of your weapons sharp. It is the way of the ginsu. 5. Always keep the hair of your men shorn close to the scalp. Nobody likes hippies. 6. All warfare is based on deception. When the enemy draws near to you, cry out, "You spilled soup all down the front of your tunic." When he looks down at the front of his tunic, attack. 7. Never lend money to your men just before a battle. 8. Demoralize your enemy by whispering and giggling and then suddenly going silent as he draws near. When he asks what you were talking about, say, "Oh, nothing." 9. Never allow your men to paint flowers or colorful swirls on the sides of their chariots. Nobody likes hippies. 10. Confound your enemy with precepts that sound profound but actually make little or no sense. Be to him as the stallion is to the necktie. Taken from "Ten Precepts From The Art of War That Never Made It Past Sun Tzu's Editor" BY JOHN KEARNEY

Personally, I don't think it does have to be either/or, but Eve, Sybil, Snoop, Neman, Sal, and whoever else is in inside there apparently do:

What do my shopping habits or George Bush have to do with anything? And why must you turn a general statement, that you admittedly at least partially agree with (I think that's what you meant), into a personal attack? Did it ever occur to you that someone might actually agree with you on some points? I'm not saying that I or anyone does but they might (there's actually a good chance believe it or not) if you give them a chance before you go on the attack. Regarding verses: remember the one about the log in the eye?

Much less drastic change, more practical and closer to the realm of being a possability than trying to leave the old mess behind to populate other worlds. So, how long is it going to take you to travel to those planets in our galaxy at half the speed of light? Expand your mind and find out how far away they are. It's an easy math problem. You can do it.
-
How about you tell me how long it takes to travel to your "distant planets" at half the speed of light? Or are you going to use warp drive? I have some stuff in storage at the local mini storage mart and it's just wasting away... some of us see progress as focusing limited resources on lessening human pain and suffering (a la medical research) not if you are sick or suffering from a disease that could be alleviated by medical research. No such thing as a perfectly safe environment and there CERTAINLY will not be one in deep space travel or on distant worlds. But I wasn't even thinking about accidents. What about genetic disease, infectious disease, disease caused by environmental factors, lifestyle, ......etc what drugs are those? You eleminated funding for the development of pharmaceuticals back in the early 21st century in liu of building the Battlestar Galactica fleet so man could mess up brave new worlds like his old one. Here's a thought. What if man cleaned up the mess he made in his own camp before he bravely tried to go where no one has pooped before so he could poop all over that planet too. Imagine what the world would be like then?

Not nearly as much time as it takes to plagarize and condense several marginally bad sci fi movies into one synopsis, post it, and try to defend it while pretending to be 4 different people. EDIT: make that 5 alter egos.

Did you try animal sacrafices while invoking the name of satan first or did you just go straight away with the surgery? From what I saw in a previous post, when both satan worship and Lasik are performed, it would appear difficult to asertain a true causative factor for any improvement in vision .

Sshhhhhhhh. They don't know they're the same person.

You're obviously much smarter than Snoop, Nemanja, and Sal. They're just describing some dumb old movie I saw years ago. But you've convinced me. To hell with curing cancer....to the stars!

1. how are you planning to get to those "distant planets" in a reasonable time frame? 2. how are you planning to get the goods back to good ol terra firma? 3. what much do you figure that a Kg of lead that was mined on some distant planet would need to be priced in order to show a profit? 4. how would an investment in a mine some distant planets scheme stack up against an investment in good old fashioned novel energy research, research in new materials, conservation and/or recycling activities? 5. what are you going to do when the space miners get sick in outer space but you've abandoned investments in health care? 6. in the future, working mining operations on distant patents will be a dirty, lonely, boring, thankless job, so space miners will do a lot of drugs to make their existences more tolerable ....so you might want to consider keeping that rehab center open. In fact, the real money will probably be in supplying drugs to the space miners, and drug rehab for space miners.

Do I have to buy Kevin Trudeau's book to find out what it is?
-
Myself thought the errors was quaint. Them reminded me of my public high school, how our tax dollars are largely wasted inadequately preparing our most precious resources for the future, and why my son is not in public skool
-
Are you suggesting that we stop wasting money on drug rehab and divert that money, and money wasted on similar programs, to space exploration?

I don't get the USAmerican system either. It's the best in the world (I've heard, but admittedly have never taken advantage of another system) if you can afford it or have a good insurance plan associated with your employer, but it stinks big time if you lose your job related benefits or don't win the lottery, but a "free" system is nothing short of amazing. How does that work?

Believe me when I say I that I did not intend for my question to be a "leading" anything. I am a chemist, so this is wayyyyy outside the scope of my expertise, and I am not in a position to critisize your theory or hypoth. I have never heard of such a thing (an outer shell regarding the universe) and was (am) naturally curious. It does seems like a normal question to ask, especially since you brought it up. So, I'll ask again.....please tell me what this "shell" is (or isn't)....are you infering that it is like a "soap bubble"? a wave? particles? like light, both ? "ether"? "infinite nothing"?
-
I do wonder which bacteria will grow or thrive in it. It certainly does seem to be limited in nutrients. Simoo, you might need to try several different types of bacteria, but in my experience, ecoli seems to grow on a lot of things...... EDIT: I mean ecoli the bacteria, not the guy
-
What is the "shell" made of?
-
Wow. Rep relativity. No wonder I'm confused. Its physics.

There's something about the combination of drive up surgical procedures and devil worship that is fascinating. I wish I had gone to see Marylin Manson when he was in town. -
I think you are saying that are you are getting the same responce with and without the EGCG. Is that correct? Do you have something else to stimulate a similar response? If so, have you tried it? If not, can you? (positive control) Did these particular cells ever behave as anticipated in your hands or in someone in your lab's hands? Where did you get the EGCG? Does YOUR prep (the very same one that you are using) work as anticipated with someone else's cells? How are you measuring the insulin? Do you have positive controls for the instrument? Finally, something like this can often be traced back to a simple decimal point type error......at least when I do the math....
