  1. Yeah; like "manipulation of the spine"
  2. OK. I see. I meant that their right to free speech ends when it interferes with someone elses rights. It certainly infringes on the loved ones' rights to privacy and their rights to grieve for their loved ones. It may also infringe on their religous rights.

In the murder of a pregnant woman, the murderer should be charged with how many counts of murder; one or two? PS; I am not trying to trap you in a hypothetical situation. This has come up before the courts on numerous occasions.
  4. What part don't you get?
  5. As mentioned above, a major problem is the slippery slope. Once you start, where do you draw the lines? When is it justified and when is it not? Until these are sufficiently answered, and I doubt they ever will be, I remain against it. And, unfortunately, a mistake here can not be corrected.
  6. I believe that this falls outside the scope of freedom of speech (and right to assembly) in much the same manner as screaming "fire" in a crowded theater.
  7. What about the one and a half car garage? Major suicide weapon.
  8. Having had extensive experience with chiropractors, orthopedic surgeons, physical therapists, etc I can state with confidence that chiropractors are massage therapists with some greater comprehension of skeletal anatomy, fancier offices and bigger bank accounts. The level of education that a chiropractor recieves qualifies her/him to perform massage. PERIOD. It should be against the law to call them "Dr". In most cases, you would definitely be much better off seeing a physical therapist than a chiropractor. That said, massage is great, but it is just massage.

Following that train of logic, should society should grant immunity to parents who starve their infant children to death?
  10. Hhmmm....Not so good. "You got 10 of the 21 people correct, and you did better recognizing the virginity of girls. Overall, you guessed better than 20% of all test takers." But the pictures are fake. I'm pretty sure that I spotted the "most popular" girl from my high school......and she ain't no virgin........
  11. This is what happens when you skip class to stay home and watch old Battlestar Galactica, Lost in Space and Star Trek rerums.
  12. I don't know about your school, but my degrees just have the school names and "Bachelor of Arts" and "Doctor of Philosophy". They state nothing about what the degrees are actually in or even the departments.
  13. Regarding the cancer cells leaving the tissue and migrating in and out of the blood vessels (or lymphatic system), you are describing metastasis. This usually happens in later stages of cancer, but it can happen anytime and it is not necessary for a malignant cell to metastasize to other parts of the body for it to be considered cancerous. It is however, much more dangerous after it begins to metastasize.
  14. I agree with most of the other replies. GPA, GRE scores, the rank of school where you got your degree(s), letters of rec., research and/or clinical experience. are all important. In that approximate order of preference listed.

And also by that logic.....a condom, a diaphram, or the pill would be wrong also since the sperm is wasted much the same as it is in masturbation. Lucky for us though, sperm and eggs are haploid, not diploid; therefore, they are not potential human beings. In other words, one piece of a puzzle does not a puzzle make.
  16. Quote. ""Gout is one of the most painful rheumatic diseases. It results from deposits of needle-like crystals of uric acid in connective tissue, in the joint space between two bones, or in both. These deposits lead to inflammatory arthritis, which causes swelling, redness, heat, pain, and stiffness in the joints. The term arthritis refers to more than 100 different rheumatic diseases that affect the joints, muscles, and bones, as well as other tissues and structures. Gout accounts for approximately 5 percent of all cases of arthritis. .................... ............ Drinking too much alcohol can lead to hyperuricemia because it interferes with the removal of uric acid from the body. "" End Quote. http://www.medic8.com/healthguide/articles/gout.html
  17. There are a lot more than 17 pirates these days. We, I mean they, chase down and rob cruise liners and cargo ships using radar, GPS, and speed boats. Arrrr matey!!!
  18. I think it could be uric acid build up or more likely, a lack of movement or an odd position while you sleep in your drunken state. I have read that people generally do not switch positions as much in their sleep when they are intoxicated. I have also heard of cases where people have suffered nerve damage from sleeping on their arm, for example, while they were drunk. I suspect something similar could be going on here. There may be some correlation with empty Taco Bell and White Castle wrappers also .
  19. Don't expect everyone to bend to your particular needs/wants/desires. No matter how smart you think you are, you must learn the discipline of learning. It is as, or more important than anything else. Without it, genius or not and ADD or not, you'll just end up jumping around from one whim to the next......and eventually turn out to be another Mensa member pondering the origins of the universe while collecting quarters at the toll booth .
  20. For those of you who think that this is bible based or creationist. It is definitely not....... It is new age total crap.
  21. Anhydrous simply means that it is dry.....contains no water. The trihydrate is not dry. It contains three water molecules for every acetate molecule. One mole of sodium acetate will weigh less than one mole of sodium acetate trihydrate because the trihydrate has the three water molecules. That could be the difference in the price. Anhydrous chemicals are usually more expensive by the mole.
  22. George Carlin has made millions of dollars being a jerk and insulting people. You can expect that to change only when/if the money stops coming in.
  23. I don't get your point. I prefer Vanilla.
  24. That movie gets played on the classic channels, like AMC and TCM every now and then. It was way ahead of it's time. In fact Gene Roddenberry has been quoted as stating that it was a major influence for the Star Trek series. The robot is Robbie The Robot. He was very famous. The first robot star. Besides that movie, he was the model for a robot toy that many kids played with in the 50s and 60s. He made appearances on several other movies and TV shows. I remmeber him from an episode of Gilligan's Island, The Twilight Zone, and an episode of Lost in Space, in which he was an evil robot.
  25. What? Where did the sugars and nucleic acids come from?
