Uhm, theobromine is the stuff that is toxic to dogs in chocolate. it is the main methylxanthine in chocolate. Theophylline and theobromine are both dimethylxanthines, but they have different positions for the methyl groups on their xanthine rings. Caffine is trimethylxanthine. Yes, methamphetamine is a BIG stimulant and a BIG shitter on peoples' lives; the lives of both the user and their loved ones. It is not anywhere near the same league as the methylxanthines....which are for the most part relatively harmless. Like heroine, meth is one of those drugs that, for some people at least, one try = addicition = destruction.

I agree with you mostly and on most points. But not completely. For example, I think it is crazy to use mercury in your mouth if you do not have to. And we do not have to. I believe that the jury is still out on the level of exposure and that it can vary and change due to body chem, what we put into our mouth (diet), how much we grind our teeth, and damage to the fillings over time. I also believe that whoever came up with the idea of putting any kind of mercury in someone's mouth (like the idea to use it to treat leather hat band material for example) was "mad as a hatter":D Regarding your comments about the LD50 of fluoride. All I can say is WOW. I try to stay at least WAY x E12 below the lethal dose expected to kill 50% of the sample population in my dosing of ANYTHING. Fluoride is known to cause or contribute to a variety of really bad symptoms LONG before it kills you (as evidenced by the MSDS). I do not want it in my or my child's drinking water or water we cook with. I think it is crazy. It being in my toothtaste is debatable. The conspiracy theorists claim that fluoride in the drinking water was a result of lobbying efforts by the Aluminum industry because it is a major, toxic by product of aluminum processing which they were having issues with disposal of. I don't know how much of that is true, but I do know that it is VERY toxic and should not be in drinking water. In the war of dental caries vs death and major disease, I'll take dental caries any day.

Glider, Isn't the dorsal root gang the one that comes out of the L4-L5 space (or near that area)? Also refered to the sciatic nerve? The one which runs all the way down to the foot..... Compression of the sciatic nerve causes sciatica (which is pain in the leg, behind the knee cap and even the big toe). If the sciatic nerve is compressed due to degenerative disc disease, for example, it hurts like hell. Believe me, I know.....

I think our meanings of billion and trillion dollars seem to be the same. 1 billion USD = 1 E9 USD = 1,000,000,000 USD 1 trillion USD = 1 E12 USD = 1,000,000,000,000 USD. That many zeros regarding dollars is almost beyond my comprehension and at 9 trillion in debt now, of course we are about to add another zero. At approx. 1/4 the personal tax amount, pumping up corp taxes should have less of an impact: From the data above: "$1.1 trillion - Individual income tax" "$260.6 billion - Corporate income tax " Besides, there is always the (probably quite valid) argument that raising corp taxes will chase even more businesses off shore which would actually drive the numbers down and result in a drop in jobs, personal tax revenue, contribute to trade defict, etc. Regarding the debt not growing any larger, your statement might be correct if there was a cap on spending. Unfortunately, we don't see that happening anytime in the near future. EDIT: DAK, I just came back and did the math for the 0.22% increase you proposed in personal taxes. It would only add about $2.2 billion USD (using the amount for current personal tax revenues of approx $1 trillion USD) to the governments coffers. So, it would be a drop in the proverbial bucket. It would take a 22% increase to increase personal income tax revenues by $220 billion ($0.220 trillion) USD.

Interesting, but which chlorinated hydrocarbons are you refering to? 2 most commonly used ones, methylene chloride (aka dichloromethane) and chloroform, are denser than water so they do not "float".....they sink.

Yes, many green teas are high in polyphenols (flavonoids), which have antioxidant activities. These flavonoids are destroyed to a large degee when "regular" tea becomes oxidized in storage or during processing. Many teas are not as high in caffine levels as coffee. Values vary greatly, but tea usually has about 1/2 to 1/4 the amount of caffine that coffee contains. However, tea (but not some herbal teas of course) contains caffine's methylxanthine brother, theophyline, which has less activity in the brain, but a MUCH longer half life and packs one heck of a punch on the kidneys, heart and resiratory system in particular. Theophylline is a medical and home treatment for asthma, bronchitis, and emphesyma and can even be obtained via prescription. I always laugh when I see people buy or use "decaffinated tea" because they don't want to stay up at night or get stimulated.....most of the theophyline is still in there and it carries a big, much longer acting systemic punch. Theobromine is another methylxanthine brother, that is found in high levels in coca products like chocolate, but it lacks the punch. If I recall correctly theobromine has about 1/10 the stimulating effect of caffine. Many teas also contain a tiny amount of theobromine.

I do not doubt that WD40 can help alleviate some symptoms associated with arthritis because many petroleum distilates are readily absorbed through the skin (which may not be such a good thing). Perhaps the mechanism of action is similar to DMSO....which is also somewhat of a mystery and not well accepted by the mainstream medical community. It is more likely, however, that just putting petroleum distilates on the site of discomfort alleviates the pain by some nonspecific mechanism. In fact, one initial measure of the strength of anesthetics is by their water/hexane partition coeffectient (aka log p), which is a measure of lipophilicitiy. The better a drug partitions into hexane, generally the stronger the nonspecific anesthetic. The same is true for many other drugs. The idea is that drugs that go into hexane will also be able to partition into the lipophilic cell membrane. The main problem with WD40 as a treatment for arthritis may be that the cure could very well be much worse than the original symptoms.

As far as amalgams go, just google mercury silver amalgam and see what comes up......you might want to make sure you have a few hours. Regarding fluoride. I've got it....we could make all 30 million (or pick any number) "illegal immigrants" legal so they will have to pay taxes (and contribute to social security)...that should add about 10% more people to the roles...... So 30 million people (of which I guesstimate half would have taxable earned income) = 15 million people X 15% of their income paid to federal income tax and I guesstimate an average yearly income of $15,000 (assuming about $7/hour)..... = $33.75 billion per year to the federal income tax system. Of course we will apply all of that to the national debt interest payment of $243.7 billion/yr (NOT, but assuming we did)........ = ONLY $209.95 billion in interest per year more to go! Woo hoo! After we figure out how to make that up, then we can start paying down the $9 trillion of principle Here is some more data fer ya....... Quote: "New data released by the IRS today offers interesting insights into the distributional spread of the federal income tax burden, new analysis by the Tax Foundation shows. The new data shows that the top-earning 25% of taxpayers (AGI over $62,068) earned 67.5% of the nation's income, but they paid more than four out of every five dollars collected by the federal income tax (86%). The top 1% of taxpayers (AGI over $364,657) earned approximately 21.2% of the nation's income (as defined by AGI), yet paid 39.4% of all federal income taxes. That means the top 1% of tax returns paid about the same amount of federal individual income taxes as the bottom 95% of tax returns."End Quote. http://taxprof.typepad.com/taxprof_blog/2007/10/top-1-pay-more-.html

Just make sure they are water soluble (C, B, etc...). You can easily get a toxic dose of fat soluble vitamins, for example, vit E.
-
I agree with you. Just look at what they put in cosmetics and skin lotions and there is very little testing. For example ethanolamines and ethylamines are VERY common. They are also easily absorbed and quite nasty. Two of my favorites are mercury fillings and fluoride in the water. You don't have to be a conspiracy theorist or a rocket scientist to know you don't want mercury in your mouth (even if it is supposed to be bound up in the silver or gold) and you should not be forced to have fluoride in your water. If I want fluoride in my or my kids' teeth, all I have to do is buy a fluoride rinse or drops a drop in dental carries just is not worth it. Fluoride is REALLY horrible stuff.

All this stuff about chemicals and toxicity is a bunch of bunk. I'm an organic chemist by training, so I've been exposed to more exotic chemicals than most people are in 50 lifetimes. Except for the hives, skin sores that won't heal, kidney failure, liver scarring, skin cancer, lung cancer, testicular cancer, loss of muscle tone, hair loss, bleeding ulcers, depression, and blindness, I'm in great shape.

LOL. You sure did! But only by this >< much. And I would have beat YOU if I wasn't so busy freaking out.

Ok then. He should be fine as long as he doesn't blow his head off, doesn't spray the canned air in his eyes, inhale a ton of it, eat it, or spray it on his testicles (because it can cause frost bite)...... Quote: ""SECTION VI - HEALTH HAZARD INFORMATION Potential Health Effects: Inhalation of high concentrations of vapor is harmful and may cause heart irregularities, unconsciousness, or death. Intentional misuse or deliberate inhalation may cause death without warning. Vapor reduces oxygen available for breathing and is heavier than air. Liquid contact can cause frostbite. Human Health Effects: Contact with the liquid may cause frostbite. Overexposure by inhalation may include nonspecific discomfort, such as nausea, headache, or weakness; or temporary nervous system depression with anesthetic effects such as dizziness, headache, confusion, incoordination and loss of consciousness. Higher exposures (>20%) may cause temporary lung irritation effects with cough, discomfort, difficulty breathing, or shortness of breath-, or temporary alteration of the heart's electrical activity with irregular pulse, palpitations, or inadequate circulation, abnormal kidney function as detected by laboratory tests. Gross overexposure may be fatal. Individual with preexisting diseases of the central nervous or cardiovascular system may have increased susceptibility to the toxicity of excessive exposures. FIRST AID: Eyes: Immediately flush eyes with large amounts of water for at least 15 minutes while holding the eyelids open. Get prompt medical attention. Skin: Immediately remove contaminated clothing; wash skin with large amounts of water for at least 15 minutes. Treat for frostbite with gentle warming affected area if necessary. Get prompt medical attention. Inhalation: Move victim to fresh air and restore breathing if necessary. Stay with victim until arrival of emergency medical personnel. Ingestion: Contact local Poison Control Center or physician immediately! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- SECTION VII - TOXICOLOGICAL INFORMATION The compound is untested for skin or eye irritation, and for animal sensitization. Effects in animals from single, high exposure by inhalation include labored breathing, lung irritation, lethargy, incoordination, and loss of consciousness. Cardiac sensitization occurred in dogs exposed to a concentration of 150,000 ppm in air and given an intravenous epinephrine challenge. Effects of repeated exposure include increased urinary fluorides, reduced kidney weight, and reversible kidney changes. The effects of a single, high oral dose include weight loss and lethargy. Tests in animals demonstrate no carcinogenic activity or developmental effects. Tests in animals for reproductive effects have not been performed. This compound does not produce genetic damage in bacterial cell cultures but has not been tested in animals. "" End quote. http://www.sisweb.com/referenc/articles/dustoff.htm Happy now?

He just wants to blow the excess WD-40 off his shotgun with the same canned air that is sold and used to dust off keyboards and such. As long as the gun is not loaded and he doesn't stick it in his mouth, everything will be fine.

I'm assuming then that they will have lids on them but not sealed? I thought you said that there were 2 alcohols. Wait a minute. You said there are no published Henry's law info....and you have bps......you probably know their names, but you haven't said what they are? What are they?

Since the only way it will go down is to increase revenues and/or substantially decrease expenditures, what programs do you propose to cut and/or what sources of gov revenue do you propose to increase? Name someone who has the political cojones to cut any gov program, except perhaps defense? It is absolute political suicide, but I'll vote for them (as long as the cut doesn't effect me personally). Note that (according to the table below) we spend about 10 times more on debt interest than we do on either science and technology or energy programs. I'm not sure why medicare is separate from medicade and other health related.... So what are you gonna cut or increase??? Note also that this is from wiki, so take it for what it is worth. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_federal_budget,_2007 Quote: "Total receipts Estimated receipts for fiscal year 2007 were $2.4 trillion. $1.1 trillion - Individual income tax $884.1 billion - Social Security and other payroll taxes $260.6 billion - Corporate income tax $74.6 billion - Excise taxes $28.1 billion - Customs duties $23.7 billion - Estate and gift taxes $48.4 billion - Other The IRS estimated that there were about $345 billion in uncollected taxes.[1] [edit] Total spending The President's budget for 2007 totals $2.8 trillion. Yes but 0.5 cm is way too big for bacteria or protista spores. from wikip: Quote. "Spores form part of the life cycles of many plants, algae, fungi and some protozoans." ........................ "The term spore may also refer to the dormant stage of some bacteria or archaea; however these are more correctly known as endospores and are not truly spores in the sense discussed in this article. The term can also be loosely applied to some animal resting stages. Fungi that produce spores are known as sporogenous, and those that do not are asporogenous." End Quote. So that leaves fungi (including molds I think) and plants. Since it was in the dark, perhaps you can eleminate plants. It think it could be a fungus or a mold. But molds usually do not have the pattern. Looks to me like Snail could be right. I vote fungus also.

On a positive note, I hear that the Klan is looking for new membership. EDIT: Well, I think he is sorry.... Quote: "I am mortified about what has happened," Watson said. "More importantly, I cannot understand how I could have said what I am quoted as having said. "I can certainly understand why people, reading those words, have reacted in the ways they have. To all those who have drawn the inference from my words that Africa, as a continent, is somehow genetically inferior, I can only apologize unreservedly. That is not what I meant. More importantly from my point of view, there is no scientific basis for such a belief." Watson's publicist, Kate Farquhar-Thomson, would not address whether Watson was suggesting he was misquoted. "You have the statement. That's it, I'm afraid," she said."" End Quote. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20071018/ap_on_sc/controversial_scientist

?? Are you going to use them in a closed or an open system? Are you mixing them with water? Do they azeotroph with water?
